You said Métis? I originate from the Eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan. In the Eastern UP’s area, there’s a strong Métis population. You will hear surnames like Perrault, Belonga, Bazinau, Cadotte, Thanisau, and more. I’m part French myself, but no trace of Indian. By the way, the Eastern UP is flat with scattered small swamps. It seems that the French settle near swamps. You know that Louisiana is the epitome of swamps. I go there to perform myself.
@@kinkajou777 My Grandfather was from Scotland which I understand Metis is a mixture of French,Scottish and Native .I know very little about that side of the family! Maybe thats why I love this sort of music!
mairabella Their shows are always the highlights of every Jazzfest that I've seen them. They are an amazing live band that gives Cajun music a real edgy feel. Great energy in this video!
I totally agree with you and what makes Louis so special also is he is so humble and sweet and never loses his down home nature no matter how talented he is. Love this band and the new Soul Creole that Louis makes great also!
mairabella I will have to check out Soul Creole, I saw some things on youtube, but have to get around to catching them. I'm putting together a live LBR playlist to get me going in the morning ;o) - better than coffee! Louis and Andre are amazing musicians, do you know who the bass player is? At 2014 Jazzfest, Louis had the band sign the set poster and gave it to me and we talked for a good while after the show. Saw them later in the summer at dba and they were just as personable. I'm a fan for life.
The first song is used as background for their version of "New Iberia Haircut" that I just heard on Boudin Man's show on July 25. It's posted in the WWOZ archives, under the Kitchen Sink show it's about an hour into it, right after they play an interview with Andre Michot about what the band is up to. Give it a listen.
Does anyone know the name of the 2nd song? I just love it, so haunting! Would love the lyrics, only can read a little french, so don't understand all the words, pretty basic french! Would love to check back for name of song two. Starts on 6:35, 2nd song in this video. Vicki from Eugene, Oregon.
@@victoriamegowan4103 Le temps apres fini. It is the third piece @ 6.35 this video. Means Hurry, there is no more time left. Something like that. Not classic French, it is Cajun.
it is like...the beautiful contrary to all of the ingranied irish and scottish beats in me but it is no different ...just way more complicated. I will be here forever if anyone ever needs me.
