This was absolutely amazing to watch. those connections were so fluid, I think her gold on beam at worlds last year really made her more confident on this apparatus!
She is so amazing! I love her new beam work and I definitely am very happy her Arabian is so consistent! she didn't wobble once in this entire competition on that skill which was her most inconsistent skill. VERY happy for her
It looks like the routine is built to connect the switch split half, onodi, free cartwheel, sissone, free walkover, free walkover, flic... which is ridiculous.
Keith Tae Liu Yuchen Giovanni Garcia Kyla Ross has also had a back injury she's dealt with. Plus, she's been upgrading with the whip + double Arabian + stag combo and the 1.5 + front full pass. She even had a ton of piked stalders in her bars routine at Worlds, but had to switch to toe-on to help ease her back.
***** +1 That makes sense. Injury sometimes is not an excuse of maintaining at a low-level routine. Although her performance is strong and well executed, a boring routine couldn't push the sport to the next level.
I was almost questioning whether this was really Aliya, she is so much more confident now! I am so happy she brought back the Arabian, and now it's connected to a jump. Can't wait until World's and hopefully 2016!
011cra Iordache has the skills, but lacks consistency. She fell twice at Romanian Nationals. It really sucks, because I also want Iordache to win a medal on beam at worlds.
Moka Akashiya True, she is great but inconsistent but you can't count her out. What if she hits? then all bets are off for the rest of the world or she could go with the downgraded version of her routines ad still contend :)
011cra anything can happen in gymnastics. Last year, no one would have even thought of Aliya winning a medal on beam, let alone gold. Then, turns out she's champion. Larisa could definitely get a gold on beam this year, we just have to pray that the odds are in her favor.
Moka Akashiya Hopefully! I want Iordache to get a medal on beam. I want her to get gold on floor more than anything because on floor she is PERFECT. She has Huge acrobatics and huge difficulty on her dance elements combined with incredible music and loads of artistry.
I know that mat on the beam was meant for her Arabian, but I've never seen that before. Is that allowed? And is that allowed in bigger events like Worlds or the Olympics?

Then she got a bronze medal during the worlds in 2014!
The best routine she has ever done. God how I would've loved to see her do this at the Olympics and just shock everyone. Keep going strong Aliya!
Probably one of her best-- if not her best--routines she has yet competed!

Kyla Ross should takes note, just because your elegant doesn't mean you have to do the boring routine over and over again. Take risk, like Aliya
+1 Kyla always cheats for high E score with her boring and easy routine again and again

she just connected 4 skills. how many gymnasts nowadays can do that!
She has the potential to connect all six of them, which would be incredible!

One of the best double tucks 8:
My queen 👸🏼
her connections make me starry eyed
Mustafina and Kharenkova gold and silver on beam finals at the world championship gymnastics 2014 o/
Don't forget about Iordache! She has killer skills on Beam. They are HUGE! Watch her at the Romanian nationals 1-2days ago
