I'm not even gonna lie, After I learned just how close you are I find myself looking for that yellow van when I'm in your area lol. Big fan, Thanks for sharing with us.
Howdy Neighbor, you're getting me stoked to go out short floating for chum up here in BC. I wish more people were packing out more than they bring in. It sickens me when I see giant birdsnests of line and trash along the shore.
Right there with you... Cleaned up an entire bag full of fishing line nests, bottles, and food wrappers at a local river a couple days ago. Just don't understand what goes on in people's heads 🤔Glad you're excited for Chum! Saw one landed right next to me where I cleaned up the trash. First time I've ever put my eyes on one, so I'm super stoked to catch one this year!!! 🎣 Tight lines and good luck up there in BC!
Thank you so much for note telling any one the spot you're fishing keep it just for you and enjoy it . You're a German can't be more than that all European are like you thank you so much and GOD bless you
You care about the rain when you start working at Boeing! At least that's how it was for me growing up in Renton. I live in PA now and you really got me tempted to start fishing again!
You went to me and my boyfriend’s favorite fishing hole and we only discovered your channel months ago, it’s crazy to think our favorite fishing youtuber went to our local rivers 😂😭
spinners- you want to make sure you fish as close to the bottom and as slow as possible. sometimes this requires a 45 degree upstream cast. weighted spinners will help you get down. if the water is colored you want something with real gold/silver plate as chrome turns black a few feet under the water. bring a few different colors and finishes before you give up on them.
Thank you Spencer! I'm committed to catching one on a spinner this year still. Your intel is definitely going to help 👍🎣 Very interesting about the chrome finish... Had no idea!
@@NWFishingSecrets there is a really good book written about it. Spinner Fishing For Salmon, Steelhead and Trout by Jed Davis. You can get the weighted spinners he talks about from RandB lures or Pentac. or make them yourself (cheaply) from lurepartsonline.com you do get what you pay for though. Bluefox spinners are pretty good but they dont get down very deep. The main thing is that they are good for "searching" so cover water. The fish should bite after the first few casts if you are presenting properly- move to the next hole or change colors if you dont get bit. bait is good for casting at a pile of fish in a hole and staying on your rock all day spoons and spinners require different tactics to be successful. also a good change up after fishing bait for a long time and the bite dies. hope this helps
@@Spencer_Plant_Projects Dude, thank you - this really does help. I'm actually gonna copy and paste this into a word doc for reference. Good advice! And yeah, it is definitely nice to switch it up from time to time. And I've always loved fishing spinners/spoons for all kinds of other species. Salmon fishing is so fun because it's all about tempting them to bite, despite them no longer really feeding. Such a fun challenge 🎣
@@NWFishingSecrets I was going to say the same stuff! A buddy of mine has a youtube channel Fishing with Rod. He just went over coho fishing with spinners definitely check it out very informative channel!
NW Fishing Secrets hey man try bass underspin swimbaits too! Used to catch lake run steelhead on pink zoom flukes on an underspin when i lived in Indiana
Haha, thank you Alberto!! Can't believe the growth myself... What a journey, I'm so glad you're part of it! And sorry for the ads, they pay for the gas to get to the fishing spots!! 🤣 Bobber down!!!!🎣
God damn, you could walk through there two weeks ago. I was throwing spinners, along with two other guys. Two guys were bobber fishing with eggs like you. Two other guys were in the middle of the fork casting flys. WE ALL GOT SKUNKED! Glad to see you’re having better luck with the recent rains! Keep up the great work, you have great videos.
Thank you, this was a fun video to make for you. Will definitely be back to do some more fishing. Gotta catch that B-run monster.... And you're 100% right. The day before, there wasn't a single fish caught between all the guys. Then it started pooring, the river rose about a foot, and that evening is when things went wild there. Only a couple other fish caught though - they were using spinners and twitching jigs. Hope you make it out again and get some action 🎣
Hell yeah man! Glad to see you got a video of hidey hole! I mean I know the rules are tell them the spots called Notellum Creek but nobody knows how good the fishing is in the ONP! Maybe I'll see ya up there this weekend. Headed to a secret hole you would slay man
So jealous! I'm working on another video for you guys this weekend, but hoping to make it back out there again in a week or two! And yep, everyone who still asks is being sent to Notellum Creek. I hear the fishing is crazy there.... 🎣
Just hit the spot again yesterday and hooked into 12 +25 pounders. The bite for the King of the Salmonoids is ON! Pulled a Native hen out so fresh from the sea that sea lice were still hopping off her 😂🎣 Most are already a little dark but I'm gonna upload a video of the smallest king I caught and I'll link it here for ya guys
Good on you for pickup up the trash. Happy to go over hootchie spinner and jig twitching with you on the OP rivers. Many of my videos are the result of just that.
I cought my limit where those guys are standing using a #4 bluefox spinner. And they were adult coho to ! Just wait for the river to drop and that spot is prime. And the bank is pretty nice to when its not flooded. I learned that the spot you are fishing at is usually good for Jack's right there with eggs, spinners and jigs at the end. I love out west.
THANK YOU!! I'll definitely be back... So beautiful out there, and the spot has lots of potential... So spinners a bit further downstream on the north bank? Will give it a try. There were definitely big fish in the river. Saw plenty of carcasses after the tribes did some netting. Jacks just love those darn eggs 🤣
I started salmon fishing this year because of your videos, only ever fished large mouth and pan fish before. No success yet, but one of these days I'm gunna hook up a salmon and it'll be thanks to you.
I like freshwater fishing but I truly loved fishing in the ocean I wish someday I could catch a Rainbow trout catch and cook like you doing your videos. I really love all your videos and seen them all already thank you for taking us on your adventures.

lol, I'm right there with you. As a kid I did a lot of bobber fishing. Then I kinda "grew out of it". Recently, after fishing for salmon with bobber and eggs, and finally succeeding, I feel like catching everything with a bobber again. So intense - watching it, then seeing it dip. Makes you almost sh*t your pants 🤣

Love you’re videos. Always a pleasure to watch. I live in south hill so I mainly go to the puyallup river and Spanaway lake while my daughter is in school.
Thanks for the kind words! I love making the videos for you guys 🎣 🤙 Has the Puyallup still been producing? Heard a bunch of people say it was dead. Probably just cause the Pinks stopped running 😂 Fish onnn!
For spinner fishing, I've always hooked more with a moderate to fast reel speed vs slow like many suggest. Idk, I feel if fish smash a plug cuz of it's speed and rhythmic action, the same concept can be applied to spinner and jig twitching. Same for jig twitching, I'll use a faster motion vs slower and I'll hook up a lot more. As for where, I can hook you up on where to get in on some hot twitching action. It's about to heat up even more from what Ive heard.
Wow, I really appreciate all your advice. That's what's so cool about this, is that I get to learn from so many people. Thank you. And if you want to share spots, just make sure to do so via email or PM on instagram, so it's not posted on here for people to see. Of course, I'll keep it secret. Thank you man... 🎣🤙
NW Fishing Secrets Lol nope it happens, these days I will usually switch over to a soft bead when I find myself in that position, you still get the action but you don’t run outta those precious eggs and you will catch mature fish on the bead as well! Good luck out there!
Always have fun watching your videos, I can't really get out for salmon again this year but I can live vicariously through your videos. Keep posting them.
Also I’m pretty new to salmon fishing in general but all the salmon I’ve caught apart from one have been caught spinning/spoon fishing only tip I’d say is to allow the spinner to sink a bit longer until it’s near the bottom other than that technique seems good!
Been fishing this spot since I was a kid. Lol Nice choice! Ever want to get more in depth on these rivers let me know! I’ve got property riverfront close by!

Beautiful area. Really is baffling that people will leave stuff - you’re 100% right. Downright offensive actually 😂 thanks for enjoying the video and valuing nature!
YESSS I'm converting another to bobber and eggs!! 🤣 Watch my Bobber & Egg 101 video and stay patient. Once you get your first bobber salmon you'll be addicted. Glad you're enjoying the videos man. More coming your way 🎣

Thank you for subscribing! I love the baitcaster for bobber and eggs! 🤣 Glad you loved the van! You'll see if from time to time in the videos! 😂 Tight lines! 🎣
With spinners, cast up river a little more that way you'll keep it in the water longer for a longer drift. Then a slow retrieval using the current to your advantage.
Same here. Literally must have been PACKED with a giant school of jacks. Almost concerning...? Hopefully it's different next time I'm there. Jacks do like eggs though, I've noticed that.... Thanks for enjoying the video!
I've got a couple trips scheduled down there this year, 1 in that spot specifically another guided in that same area ish! Maybe we'll see ya on the banks someday. Good luck...Fish On!!
Take my advice with a giant serving of danish sea salt, but I have been told that it is more effective set the hook with salmon by first reeling down and then lifting your rod tip
Hey man I freaking love your videos I have watched so many of them the past few days lol but one thing I have done in the past that has really worked is I put my eggs on the end if my spinner and that usually works!!!!!
I go to the nisqually river right off of nisqually road and there are a lot of 15+ lb kings, I've been hooking up a lot this year but I haven't landed one yet, would love to see you fish that spot. It's right under a bridge, with nisqually road SW GOING OVER YOU
Thank you! Glad you're part of the adventure. We needed it in WA too. And there's an easy solution to the problem - I'll come up there and do some fishing!! 🎣 🤣
Once when I was crabbing off of a pier, I dropped a fishing line with a little spinner on if for anything that would bite and I kept catching little Chinook smolts. I let them all go.
Robert, my experience with fishing eggs for salmon or steelhead showed me I could slackline for a count of three to five before setting hook and got hooked up more often than setting hook immediately like you would when fishing with spinner. Might try it!
Enjoying your videos bro and binge watching. I noticed your Washington rain does the same thing as our Oregon rain to a camera lens. I just made a video on how to make a cheap lens cover if that interests you. Keep up the good work 👍
Great vid as always. Spinner or jig, you gotta present near the bottom, so maybe make sure you're always working it near the bottom. You use that torch for the same reason I use it? :)
Man I’d love it if somehow you could give a description of where you’re fishing my dad and I are planning a fishing trip in the Olympic Peninsula, not asking for direct spots but just the river name 🤣😭
Re-read the rules, and yeah, I totally could have kept the wild jacks. Not worried though. Ended up going home with 3 of them, which was plenty of food. Still have so much fish in the Freezer, that I really don't need any more! 🎣 You been out there fishin?
I fish usually 3 days a week or so! No set schedule... I won't be back in the Olympics till probably the Steelhead runs, but would be happy to link up! I'm announcing a fishing meetup in my next video! You should try and make it!
Great video. I like that you showed us part of your adventure, the camping in the van, the making coffee, the rain and the drive in to the spot. It was like I was there with you. Great stuff. Loved the bobber down shots! Hoook set! What camera do you use to zoom in like that live on the spot?
Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoy the adventure part of the videos as well, since that's the best part about fishing. I just use my GoPro Hero 7 and film in 4k. That way I can use software while editing to get the zoom ins!
@@NWFishingSecretsThanks for the info. Thanks for taking the time to film, edit and putting up these videos for us to watch and enjoy. Love it, I subbed. All the best, have a great season. Can't wait to see a steelhead video!
just a question, do you get alot of hate for recording fishing locations and what not? im from michigan and theres alot of negativity about exposing spots and recording.
Good question! When my channel was still tiny, and getting no views, I did mention some names of rivers. Then I did one video that blew up and it had the river name in it. Two days later, I went to that spot and it was packed with people who had seen the video. After that I pretty much adopted a no names rule. I’ll gladly show amazing places, and will explain exactly how to catch fish, but I can no longer share where I’m at. Of course people still ask in the comments, but I hope they understand they won’t get an answer. Also had subscribers share spots with me like in this video, and I would never break that promise to keep their spots safe. So to answer the question, no - people haven’t been negative about it, because for the most part I just don’t say where I am! Hope that answers your question 🤙🏻 there are definitely a lot of youtubers out there though that say exactly where they are. Sure, it helps people find spots, but they just become overcrowded and that sucks.
@@NWFishingSecrets Thank you for keeping it quiet, there were 45 people stacked along the park/state line portion on Friday. I'm dragging my drift boat up there on Wednesday in hopes that the flows decrease substantially.

Aw man! Great timing. I fished that spot the last two years, couldn’t make it out there this year. Great video!
Hoping I can make it there one more time! Such a cool place... Thanks for enjoying! 🎣
Your voice is so beautiful. I am a great fan of yours. Enjoying the vedios a lot...
Haha you can barely see the poulsbo truck in the background. And that's crazy all those Jack's. Jack slayfest. I wish I knew that was you. Been watching since your Bobber and egg videos on the green.
I thought that was you behind me! What are the odds of that 🤣 Dang, next time you see me, come say hi and we can catch some together 🤙🏻 🎣
@@NWFishingSecrets sounds good brotha!
Keep on fighting and show more of beautiful fishing.
Nice video, thanks for the fishing tips and for picking up trash...I have a cabin out near where you fished and can’t understand why people would leave trash in such a pristine place
Beautiful area. Really is baffling that people will leave stuff - you’re 100% right. Downright offensive actually 😂 thanks for enjoying the video and valuing nature!
Love the new Vids you make me wanna try fishing with bobber and eggs I've never done it before. Keep the amazing content coming. Much love my dude.
YESSS I'm converting another to bobber and eggs!! 🤣 Watch my Bobber & Egg 101 video and stay patient. Once you get your first bobber salmon you'll be addicted. Glad you're enjoying the videos man. More coming your way 🎣
Nice trip bud great videos I need to head coastal I guess lol
Beautiful out there, Jason. Worth the trip. Definitely still need to learn the ropes though, the rivers there are different than around Seattle 🎣 hope to see you out there!
Bobber downs on a baitcaster...not my first choice but it got the job done i see! New sub too! Tight lines man!
Oh and love the yellow van!
Thank you for subscribing! I love the baitcaster for bobber and eggs! 🤣 Glad you loved the van! You'll see if from time to time in the videos! 😂 Tight lines! 🎣
Baitcast is best for bobber + eggs. I'll use spin for lighter, but if I'm going with big globs, definitely better to use a baitcast
With spinners, cast up river a little more that way you'll keep it in the water longer for a longer drift. Then a slow retrieval using the current to your advantage.
Thank you, it seems like more upstream and slow/no retrieve is key. I will do this next time 🤙 🎣
Hello there I'm from Iraq but I live in Norway. My favourite hobbies fishing and I like your videos. ،👍
Beautify fishing, I love it a lot
Never seen that many jacks caught in one day. So odd.
Same here. Literally must have been PACKED with a giant school of jacks. Almost concerning...? Hopefully it's different next time I'm there. Jacks do like eggs though, I've noticed that.... Thanks for enjoying the video!
my english is getting good, coz i see your comments. great! i love fish.
wow. ur english is good and awesome. love ur channel.
It always seems like Jack's bite more often.
For the spinners you need to cast up stream. I also use a heavier spinner for me the spinners just don’t get down to the bottom quick enough.
I'm new to your channel... been enjoying watching your vids... Thank you brother 🤙🤙🤙
I've never wanted coffee so bad
Lol coffee porn..? Could be the new thing 🤣
I never wanted a van so bad.
I fish that spot every year, fly up from Atlanta. Always awesome even when I don’t catch anything. New subscriber greetings!
Love that spot!! Got my biggest Chinook ever there! Fun vid!!
Amazing spot indeed... Can't wait to go back and hopefully get into a school of adult fish 🔥 🎣
I've got a couple trips scheduled down there this year, 1 in that spot specifically another guided in that same area ish! Maybe we'll see ya on the banks someday. Good luck...Fish On!!
what spot is that?
Take my advice with a giant serving of danish sea salt, but I have been told that it is more effective set the hook with salmon by first reeling down and then lifting your rod tip
Hey man I freaking love your videos I have watched so many of them the past few days lol but one thing I have done in the past that has really worked is I put my eggs on the end if my spinner and that usually works!!!!!
Bank fishing Puget sound hard right now. King's are here. Could help you out on the spinners and lures gig. I'm always chasing monsters.
its the rain fish like oxygen
Keep it going brother!
Thanks! 👊🏻 🎣 will do man!
As a new subscriber I really enjoyed this one. Walmart camping... kind if better than the Walmart People videos. Lol. Keep up the great work and fun.
I go to the nisqually river right off of nisqually road and there are a lot of 15+ lb kings, I've been hooking up a lot this year but I haven't landed one yet, would love to see you fish that spot. It's right under a bridge, with nisqually road SW GOING OVER YOU
Love your videos man.
Thank you 👊🏻 🎣 glad you’re enjoying man
just found this channel recently and love it !!! wish i could find a channel with similar content for Vancouver island
Thank you! Glad you're part of the adventure. We needed it in WA too. And there's an easy solution to the problem - I'll come up there and do some fishing!! 🎣 🤣
jim powell its not BC, but theres a guy called Fish Fray who gets a few bobber downs up in michigan! Highly recommend
Different style to Leif but I love Freeman Ws videos
Wtf i just saw ur video like 1 hr ago and it was 29K subs now its 30.1K subs. That means u r doin good keep it up and we will support u.
haha thanks man 🤙 Things are growing fast, and your support means the world to me
Y’all can’t lie man this is ever man’s dream
Keep up the good work
Thank you! Will do. Next video will be fun 🎣
That is good
As soon as I see him catch a fish you already know he’s keeping it lmao even if it’s 8 inches
what rod and reel setup are you using?
Wait you can fish with bobber even with a baitcasting reel? I thought it was for fishing for pike, perch, bass and fish that bite on lures
Once when I was crabbing off of a pier, I dropped a fishing line with a little spinner on if for anything that would bite and I kept catching little Chinook smolts. I let them all go.
Yeah, they are really common here in the Puget Sound. Like little black mouthed trout everywhere!
NW Fishing Secrets HA!
Robert, my experience with fishing eggs for salmon or steelhead showed me I could slackline for a count of three to five before setting hook and got hooked up more often than setting hook immediately like you would when fishing with spinner. Might try it!
Was thinking the same thing, let them swallow that egg a bit before you pull it out of their mouth.
Washington is a beautiful place to be in I would like to visit or live out there some day
It really is.... Where you at now?
Fresno cal
Hey man you totally deserve to come to Alaska and catch bigger fish!
Starting fires in the pit?? Or am I about to learn something 🤣 Thanks for enjoying the video!!🎣
Great content brotha!
Thanks man 👊🏻 🎣 glad you’re enjoying!
I recommend "black toby".it worked really good.
I'll have to get one! Thanks! 🎣 🤙
I would like to visit someday and fish with ya bud seem pretty cool 😎
Thanks man, would be a blast to fish with subscribers. Once this COVID craziness ends, I'll throw a big fishing party 🎣 🔥
Man I’d love it if somehow you could give a description of where you’re fishing my dad and I are planning a fishing trip in the Olympic Peninsula, not asking for direct spots but just the river name 🤣😭
Yes I like you videos it's the best of bes
You can keep 4 jacks wild or not along with 2 adults. All of the jacks I have encountered have been hatchery though.....
Re-read the rules, and yeah, I totally could have kept the wild jacks. Not worried though. Ended up going home with 3 of them, which was plenty of food. Still have so much fish in the Freezer, that I really don't need any more! 🎣 You been out there fishin?
What do you use to cure your eggs and how long? Those eggs look amazing
Hey man, what days you usually fish? I have weekdays off and am looking for someone to go to the OP with. I'm just north of bellevue
I fish usually 3 days a week or so! No set schedule... I won't be back in the Olympics till probably the Steelhead runs, but would be happy to link up! I'm announcing a fishing meetup in my next video! You should try and make it!
Love your content bro!
Thanks man!! Glad you're enjoying and are part of the adventure!! 👊 🎣
What reel are you using there? Size? I want to graduate into a caster this year. I've seen the same reel on multiple channels
About effing time! :-)
was gonna upload last night, but felt like pi**ing you off instead! 🤣 🎣
Try to go fishing at Quinault Olympic national park there is 40 pound steelhead run in the winter and salmon
Rich wine bar is a killer place for salmon I didn’t realize you fish in my backyard we need to get together and catch some salmon and steelhead
Wow, you were putting everyone be to shame😂😂😂
Love The Videos!
Great videos ! Can you do a video on how to use a bait caster ? Thanks !
DUDE!!! Your vids keeps blowing up man for real! Its probs cause of your great content lol what river is this? Im in pnw would love some help. Keep it up.. Tight lines!
Thank you Jacob!! I don't know what it is! I just make goofy weird fishing videos, now with a yellow banana van! You tell ME why people like it 🤣 Wish I could share the river, but a subscriber shared it with me and I always promise to keep them secret 👍 Try any of the coastal rivers though, they are all beautiful and should be chalk full of salmon this time of year. Heck, even the Seattle area rivers are full 🤣 Tight lines!! 🎣
The fish are already wet, fish on... LOL
Haha truth! Fish onn!!
Another great video man!!! Still waiting for them steelhead videos! And also what casting rod do you use?
Thank you! I can't wait to do some steelheading myself.... Using an Okuma Celilo! Love that rod 🎣
That boulder has a cupholder lol.
I'm the opposite of you... I catch all my salmon on spinners and can NEVER catch a fish with a bobber! LOL
🤣 together we’d kill it out there!
