- This Off-Season I take a look at the best players' form. Not to teach you "the right way to throw" but to inspire you to learn from the great. There are a million ways to make the disc fly far and accurately, and they are all dependent on the individual. That is why I want to show you the many ways that can work perfectly so that you can develop your own, unique style.

Having hall of fame pitcher Goose Gossage in your family tree probably doesn't hurt in the genetics department, Plus, I'll bet he was exposed to a lot of good baseball throwing technique growing up. By the way, your forehand looks really good. Good video. Good tips. Especially the foot placement. I'm gonna give that some work.
btw your Gossage impression of his form was spot on.. you looked really good to me!!
Yeah man, I wanna throw like Aaron! Thanks for the analysis and reminding me that I never will.....lol.
You and me both!
Great video more side arm please
Oooooh, my body hurts already.
That’s definitely a genetic gift and one he’s honed in. Tread lightly, people. My shoulder can’t handle that elbow first torque. I have to throw almost a straight arm side arm from torso rotation. Any whip from my arm and my shoulder hurts for daaaaaaays. No bueno.
PS- total side note, I can’t believe Gossage throws a two finger power grip for his BH throws. 🤯
No way! I've tried three finger power grips to try and eliminate my pinky getting hung up. It kinda feels right and wrong at the same time but two fingers? That's some crazy grip strength.
@@se7enine Right!? And I’ve heard his throws have one of the loudest audible snaps at release. So you KNOW he’s gripping hard. But it’s clean with pop. Respect.
What about Saukkoriipi? Same thing? (but a little more extreme)
the gentlemen's sidearm.. too funny!
Watch the video. Jaani explains what he means by it.
He’s driving his weight forward with his back side before everything else. It’s where all the power comes from. Ryan Sheldon explains this really well.
Is there any other way?
A 400’ forehand is still impressive! Nice form too. If you can throw it accurately that’s better than half the guys on tour. What disc did you use there?
It's okay, if I just dared to throw it more. This was a Gstar Destroyer.
My 12 year old loves sidearm but he’s stuck around 200. Any tips to help him get the hips going first? Thanks in advance!
off arm is crucial to keep shoulders closed while the hips fire, depending what sports you like but watch javelin tutorials or bowling for how to use the front arm
Let the kid have fun. They will learn.
Gossage in a video titled Level Up by Discraft scroll in like 9min and he gives a breakdown on what hes thinking when he sidearms! he said his left thigh he actively flexes it when he throws..
Yes, the brace has to be strong.
Isn't someone in his family a pro pitcher as well? That's basically pro pitcher form modified for disc golf. Awesome to see.
I think his grandad is Goose Gossage's cousin. Goose played for the White Sox, Pirates, and Yankees. Pretty solid relief pitcher.
What @discsmd said. Rich "Goose" Gossage is a Hall of Famer, having been a top reliever for quite a few years. He was a heavy-innings reliever for a time (before the current short-specialist era) and even had a great season as a starter early on.
PS - Thanks for the analysis, @dgspindoctor
His final step looks a lot like a fencing lunge. At least until the front foot plants and the motion continues forward.
Like in all throws, creating momentum and then stopping it, is the key.
