Big agree. Although I will say some games do it better than others. This game doesn't QUITE have them perfect. It looks alot more like a unity game that's trying to look ps1, but it's still very cool.
It's weird how some styles of games never really changed... just evolved. It's 2022 and we have the technology but still some games just make sense this way.
The way you can go from a fixed camera to third person style when using the photo camera is just an awesome gameplay feature I didn't know I needed! The game itself is also super polished and we can see the creators loved what they were doing, also they took inspiration in everything that we love about RE and SH games !
@@loriarth3196 Less than 0.1% of the population owned a GameCube bro... HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW?? lol But not gonna lie, that's an awesome feature I wished more games would implement it..
Don't forget Fatal Frame inspired too, with the camera as a weapon against 'ghosts' The camera angles with over the shoulder aiming also reminds me of Cold Fear.
Also a bit of tutorial mode from the one free multiplayer-able popular game i used to play on Steam about some weird town full of batshit crazy monsters as well, can't remember the name but it's definitely full of jumpscares
16:19 - I HAVEN'T SEEN FUNCTIONAL MIRRORS IN VIDEO GAMES SINCE THE PS2 ERA... and here comes this little indie game and busts out a perfectly functional mirror like, "Whatever NBD"
The way games used to create mirrors was to literally create a space with a mirrored copy of the game. Not a mirror image but the actual player model mirrored and a second copy of everything else.
When is game First came out I remember it was really surreal with the VHS tapes it remind me of certain aspects of silent hill in resident evil or even clock tower with no combat but I have to say I’m impressed by this update for the game.
Very interesting game but what i feel is lack of soundtrack or something to keep in suspense and set the proper mood. Also, developer can include some more monologues or visions as it is surreal, oeniric game. The scenery, enemies and film-like shots are very cool, sound effects, reading texts and moments of surprise.
7:29 ABG: wow, those stairs are tall, steep and look old, rotten-through and wobbly! It's a ss dark and there's an endless chasm below me. Better run all the way down at breakneck speed without holding the guardrail at all!
The heroine looks like that black-haired girl from Daria with Kim Possible's fashion choices (plus Shego's colour scheme) and Lara Croft's obsession of cutting off pantlegs of her pants. Her portrait looks like the girl played by Winona Ryder in Beetlejuice.
The horror games have a nice little twist of the Formula by a real-life notebook that is a challenge, I might want to see more of this, to find out where the story goes from here, I like some of the games you play on this channel united, and butcher valley come to mind for an Example uninvited has really good puzzle elements and I like anything that has a challenge.
15:12 girl: *sees huge spider behind the fence, clealy waiting to eat her inside out, frantically tries to open it to get through* LET ME IN! I WANNA FUKK THE SPIDER!
Less than 5 minutes in and I already know I really want to play this game. But let's talk about the sound of footsteps. In this case, I find them a little too high in volume and lacking in variety. In 1998 it would have made sense, in 2022, there can be more variation even when walking on the same surface. Just listen to your own footsteps. You step on the same material and your one step sounds a little bit different than the next, and not only between left and right feet, but even one the same foot makes slightly different sounds. In many of this type of games, your footsteps are loud but enemies don't seem to be aware of them, which makes the immersion to break. The opening doors animation seem a little too excessive, specially between 7:06 and 7:14, where the length of the animation adds to the unlocking door time. I'd remove the doors animation, but keep the sound. Or would remove both sound and animation entirely if possible (if loading times are not a problem; actually, most doors don't have either and transitions are instant, helping with the pace of the adventure, I guess.)
27:31 girl: *sees flooded floor with water pouring in and 4 lamps plus a TV clearly showing the water can be electrified* ayy, this floor is totes safe to walk on!
Living off nostalgia should be a genre at this point. Well if there's one complement I can give is that it's very atmospheric, it doesn't unsettle me and it's not frightening but it's immersive asf especially with earphone on.
I have to wonder, would this game look better if you played it on a CRT television rather than a flat screen monitor? The original PS1 games look better on CRT, but what about a game that mimics that style?
The enemies seem to add nothing but tedium. Looks like a pretty standard "PS1 horror game inspired by Silent Hill & Resident Evil" which is so overdone it may as well be its own genre. The non-supernatural parts were honestly the most engaging.
PS1 graphics still hold a special place in my heart
I totally agree.

@@arsonne I think that's better and good to see on the eyes actually
To be fair, PS1 never had dynamic lighting like that! That is beautiful.
Me too.

1:12 A room that can take you to the other side to see the ones you've lost... but no one ever comes back.
Isn't that just a murder room?
I was like, "I can do the same with a knife".
Wow, is this the same game you played 2 years ago? I remembered it then - just shows how much of an impact it left. This game looks great!
Hi! Yeah! The dev's just released this new build. Really loved that original demo too. :)
I thought i’m the only who recognised this 😂
A horror game having you use a irl notebook? That’s pretty intense and somewhat challenging
Brings me back to my Zelda days
@@nidhogg8446 Holy shit, a live homestuck.
Painscreek killings 👌
Kinda lazy of them not to provide an in-game notebook to use.
Nah. If your game's puzzles are that complex, you've gone too far. It's a game for fun, not homework.
So Silent Hill, Resident Evil and Fatal Frame-inspired. Cool.
Don't know if you're excited or not.
@@RinLockhart It's a pretty cool game to me :)
I can’t believe you ate your own computer.
That fact was hard to swallow.
Blew my mind to bits.
I swallowed it in one byte. :)

Pretty sad when, modern games have dropped this simple feature. But even Super Mario 64, and Heartworm, could do it.
I literally thought the same as well. I often seen mirror are black-out or somehow blurred in video games but this one just instantly shocks me
OK my type of game, I just sampled a couple spots of your video but I already got to go download the demo for myself, thanks!
This is an interesting game - that being chasing her is reminiscent of Deadly Premonition's Raincoat Killer.

The old Win95 / Win98 running on that PC immediately elevated my heart-rate. Can I even watch the scary parts? 🙂
She's rocking PORTRA? A 24-shot roll, sure, but it's still Portra. Sam's gotta be loaded!
11:07 "photograph me like one of your french girls"
So it's Silent Hill meets Fatal Frame. Silent Frame? Fatal Hill? Whatever it is, I like it!
Get a bit of little nightmares 2 vibes in this with the tvs and thin men like enemies. This game is top quality!

even tho it's almost 2023 but that kinda of style still scares the shit out of us
Huh, never knew Lara Croft went through a Goth phase.
9:32 Aw crap, looks like the Jawas got into the growth hormones again!
That was pretty awesome. I hope that the game is completed soon.
The real horror is the heroine using Windows 95 with the default corpse green wallpaper. I don't trust people who would keep it on.
The presentation is good, i like the atmosphere
Great retro artstyle
Just started the video but wow this is way above average voice acting especially for an indie game 👌
I just remembered, you played the demo 4 years ago.
that chase music is sooo Clock Tower I love it
1 minute in and I'm sold
ABG: A Dead Ringer.
Monster: YOU THOUGHT, N-
Those games look so awesome 😍. I need to trysome of them if I can get them.

this game looks awesome better than some aaa titles!!!
This looks amazing
cool game. wish they creatures looked different tho.
Its still a demo!?! AAAHH COME ON!!
that was a funny one at the end there
@Enrique nah, you misunderstand, that was so good, I couldn't tell it wasn't a demo till it stopped.
6:36 holy shiet, you found Lady Dimitrescu's tam pon storage. Run, girl!
🤣🤣🤣
Any PSS1 styled horror game is an automatic watch from me
Silent hill + Re1-2 ps1 graphics= Silent Evil/Heartworm
The door puzzle at the end was impossible for me to understand. Even after reading the solution it's still far beyond my understanding.

There's already an entire community of fans who make games in the style of PS1 games.

It's a very nice ripoff of Silent Hill and Resident evil but it just doesn't seem scary from watching this video.
Omg Im tired of indie main characters that try to be edgy by being goth or punk.
Where can I buy or download the game??
