I've always envisioned a horror game like this where you don't expect to see any kind of cosmic horror or anything that is secretly living and breathing.
Well that was interesting. I do like the VHS aesthetic. Also with earphones on it was creepy sounding. The Oppenheimer speech was a nice touch, added to the atmosphere.
What makes this a "VHS aesthetic", though? It's lo-fi, PSX-styled graphics if that's what you mean (you'll find this sort of stuff way easier that way if you're the type to browse itch or Gamejolt). But, it's not told from the perspective of a VHS camcorder nor is it in the style of analogue horror.
@@seymourdemonica9264 VHS tapes have a grainy, glitchy effect around them, which gives off similar vibes. They're similar enough to be considered the same thing. Not that deep
Oppenheimer! Thank you! I knew the speech - he quotes the Bhagavad Gita; 'I am become death' - but I'd forgotten his name. It wasn't a big enough deal to actually look up, but it was niggling me, so thanks.
Interesting premise. Kinda has a similar idea to an indie-horror game called "Anatomy." It too explored the idea of a house being a living entity, although that game is a lot simpler in presentation and gameplay. Still, good subject for a horror experience.
The Ps2 "Horror" gsme monster house does a similar thing, think it was near the end of the game. Theres a chase sequence down an alley where the house is chasing you Haven't played it in years so cant remember all of it.
For some reason the house reminded me of the one from 'Murder House' by Puppet Combo. I thought the twist will be that Scott's great(?) grandfather was the killer from MH and all that, but the dates didn't made sense that way. Still, really interesting
...so it's Monster House but instead of a vengeful ghost the house comes alive due to mad science going unchecked. Or someone asking "what's the worst that can happen?" during the process.
I liked the game but, It doesn't explain how something this big don't leave any clue. It walked, it "ate" the vehicle...How can police miss the fact that the terrain has been moved? In addition, the parents said that it was demolished. Wouldn't the son be confused when they told this? he has saw the house, he knows it hasn't been demolished. Also, the "living house" can't create furniture (they said the furniture is new, how is that possible? ).
I'm glad the siren whoop alerted me to the explanation of the ending when I was about to go refill my mug...I thought it was much crueller and Amanda had just hitched a lift with a perfectly ordinary late '70s serial killer.
14:53 lol "How dare Sheriff Campbell accuse me of a crime I totally committed, and even found proof of in the basement! It must be because he always hated me!"
Spoilers! Well holy shit was not expecting another inddie horror game with a domewhat similar premise to Anatomy. Or for a more obvious comparison freakin Monster House! I also liked how instrad of some weird vengeful ghost the possibility for this monstrosity existing is some weird mad science. Crazy how you were at first led to believe some serial killer still lives there with a lot of red herrings. I also love how the serial killer outfit Scott wore was left behind by the house as its own red herring, very smart.
When I saw the house I immediately knew what was going to happen. This may be the closest thing we'll ever get to a monster house 2, and I pray the game gets a sequel.
this game remember me the japanese movie House 1977. its easy find to watch for free with sub on internet. if you liked this game maybe would like the movie.
16:21 "This only happens in movies, maybe in Los Angeles" *throws my hat angrily to the ground and jump-stomps it* there go my weekend plans to travel all the way from Poland to stay in a ramshackle murder hut in Los Angeles. Can't have shi t in Danzig.
Final scene needs more work on on monster modelling, it looks to silly with that spider legs. Game it self was was good and scary most of the time it needs a more careful ending.
I think the fact that the slowly walking house caught up to the speeding van was silly as well. Not to mention the fact that a gigantic damn house placed fake evidence, a small mask and a knife at the "crime scene". Other than that, it's a really good game.
For being set in the late 70's, the only thing that seemed to match the time period was the van and the dude saying a slur. Characters and their outfits screamed "early 90's slasher horror" to me. (Every time you spun the character around I expected to see a whale tail tbh)
I was wondering if this was another Puppet Combo game, but no, not this time. Though I'm sure you can give them the credit for this spate of low budget, VHS-styled horror games.
Why people keep saying vhs vhs is video home movies tapes 80s 90s not games lol this is about 1997 first 3d style they had first 3d home consoles they would actually call it what the used was poligons so its poligon style
It's because there's supposed to be VHS artifacting and grains on the screen to simulate VHS. Some games did do this and the term VHS style caught on, only now it's applied to every horror game that looks retro
@TheHogfatherInvades it's stupid though isn't it VHS is the camcorder tapes they used for films after 8mm nothing to do with the unpowered graphic of the home console age also and home video was betamax that didn't set of same tapes like VHS for movies not games 🥴people such dumb sheep mind you they did have tapes for sinclear and amstrad that were tapes but they were cassettes still not vhs if anything it's called block polygons and first time the added circle polygons tombraider to get rounder graphics the result was this style😮 had to say all that for some reason
Weird. I published a short story titled "Home is where your heart is" about a living, carnivorous house on spider legs chasing people (but instead of a plumber an electrician was supposed to fix it), and with a character dying in the basement. It was in the "Biały Kruk" internet magazine in the "Fantastical animals and where to find them" special issue of the magazine, published on the 18th of September 2021.
When Scott jumped out from around the basement stairs, scared the s$%t out of me. Haha.
Lolll same lolll now I gotta watch this with the lights on lol good jump scare💀🤙🏼🍺
I read this comment before watching and it still got me lol
Me too dude, was watching in my bed almost falling asleep and Boom!
At what minute guys
I was expecting it and it still got me. 😂
I've always envisioned a horror game like this where you don't expect to see any kind of cosmic horror or anything that is secretly living and breathing.
A lot of great games come from that. Like, small concepts you half-envision, and eventually work into an entire...thing, ya knoww?
You are hilarious without saying a word lol the little dance party made me giggle
"Ya like my new dance step??"
**vigorously shakes camera : 'N o'**🤣
Ikr!!! That's why I like abg sm
No words spoken but manages to be expressive

I'd say it's closer to the idea of the film "Monster House", but you know, actually scary.
"Control, Anatomy, and the legacy of the 'haunted house'" by Jacob Geller.
Watched it many times.
@@ImCurrentlyNaked I don't think Monster House was meant to be scary, tbf. More like a horror parody
This has to be the best Puppet Combo style fangame I've seen so far. Everything fit masterfully, simply incredible.
When Tommy Wiseau writes a horror game right after The Room...he calls it The House! Oh hi Scott!
Don t touch me mathafackrr
Then finishes the trilogy with a sci-fi thriller called The Street
Love that the player took the time to dance with the other characters :D
23:34 - I've been playing horror games for almost two decades now, and gotta say:
Never seen anything quite like THAT before.
Haha, yeah, I thought the same thing! :)
The Ps2 "Horror" gsme monster house does a similar thing, think it was near the end of the game. Theres a chase sequence down an alley where the house is chasing you Haven't played it in years so cant remember all of it.
Mans never seen monster house

PuppetCombo definitely paved the way into the indie scene with these types of games
The most anticipated hour in the night!
Gratitude for the great daily videos buddy!🤟
0:42 it would be ironic if someone set the story in Colorado, but made the game in monochrome.
Spoilers!

I love their faces 😂
How to Do Video Game Faces 101 👍 (lol)
The comment I came here for lol!
Wasn’t expecting Oppenheimer of all people to make an appearance.
When I saw the house I immediately knew what was going to happen.
This may be the closest thing we'll ever get to a monster house 2, and I pray the game gets a sequel.
Anatomy by KittyHorrorShow fits the description!
this game remember me the japanese movie House 1977. its easy find to watch for free with sub on internet. if you liked this game maybe would like the movie.
The faces already scared me...
That girl is doing some serious power walking in this.
I wonder if the game dev took inspiration of the 1977 movie House because it gave me some same vibes
Love your channel & these VHS STYLE horror games!!!!!! 📼💀🎮
Most horrifying thing in this game is their faces 🤣
Thanks for playing. This game really had unexpected twists.
12:20 Bro is totally partying as well! 😆👍 gotta appreciate a commitment like that. Proper immersion.
Good game!
So, it said that this game was set in 1979, I didn't know crop tops existed in America in the 70s, like the one Amanda has on anyway.
The radio music also doesnt match the game date, game dev was relly off with the game setting
"Ashley how did you get ahead of me so fast!?" 4:15 😊👍🏻 We were both just upstairs in the bedroom.
Didn't see that ending coming!!
12:25 ABG DANCING LMFAOOOOO
Damn, those polygons got me down bad
Great gameplay. Always adore these kind of VHS aesthetic games.
A perfect piece of schlocky VHS horror and that ending was amazing!
16:21 "This only happens in movies, maybe in Los Angeles"

yeah especially when you have krauts panzer division doing car meet in your backyard
Love your channel
The more games that take notes from Anatomy, the better!
17:15 oh now I know where I know Scott's face from! It's Martin Freeman aka Bilbo Baggins!
It's amazing how you can tell what whoever is playing is feeling just by the way they play the game.
This game looks very interesting. As someone pointed out, it was kind of like a horror movie version of Monster House.
i like your intro i always think a survival horror game is nothing without some type of pump action shotgun
Agreed!
The fact that Amanda doesn’t run and just stand there makes me sooooo mad
Final scene needs more work on on monster modelling, it looks to silly with that spider legs. Game it self was was good and scary most of the time it needs a more careful ending.

Seems like a new Monster House, way better done than the movie.
15:20 got me legit crying
Man, Scott is soooo dreamy
That’s actually pretty interesting.

People still say retard in 2022
Really enjoy this channel, keep it up
Scott was right about the music being funky
I was wondering if this was another Puppet Combo game, but no, not this time. Though I'm sure you can give them the credit for this spate of low budget, VHS-styled horror games.
I just love it when large set peices crawl towards me
There was smoke coming from the chimney.
*Where the fuck was a lit fireplace in there.*
cool aesthetic, looks pretty good overall, very puppet combo-esque, but the dialogue is really bad.
well that was genuinely scary
yoooo this channel has an intro now? -last time i checked this channel was in 2019 but still-
Hope this, along with Stowaway come out on steam someday, I tried downloading this and it wouldn't work on my computer.
What i expected: Just a generic slasher horror game
What i got: Monster House by HP Lovecraft
"Now I'm become Death, the Destroyer of Worlds"... What a moment.
Scott is right, that music is cool
Ngl, that party music slaps.
Wow, so Amanda destroyed the house's left eye.
15:19 GREAT SCOTT!!!
Reminded me of This House Has People In It.
12:21 Here comes the music of the seventies.. LOL..
Neat, it certainly looks like a PS1 game from 1997.
Totally. Brings back those PS1 memories.
The House always wins...
This game is soooo good looking, and a nice story, I love it.
The dialoge was kinda funny but overall the concept was pretty freaky.
The water 💧 out of the top is very… HARD TO DRINK!!!🎶
Basically just a mad scientist version of Monster House
Scott's face is too scary I can't watch 😫
12:20 - 13:10:
*PATRICK PATRIKIOS - COVER*
Sick intro dude. 😮
Looks like they taped a picture of John Cena to Scott’s mannequin face
Thanks god they reduced the wobbling to a normal PS1 level.
I dont know... Why everything inside a house look flat and unfinish? Why there is no shadows? It look like some sort of graphic bug.
Your dance moves are on fleek
Pretty authentic. But those faces xD
this house had people in it
Uuuh, I got that reference!
i love the track at the beginning, reminds me of Killer by S4LEM
vhs/ps1 styed horror games always the best
The basement looks a lot like the one from Grow my Grandpa by Yames

Amanda has an incredible body
Is that from Puppet Combo..?!
sooner or later a point blank 12 gauge is not going to cut it you need to upgrade
Interesting game, but it's just weird that this game has the same title as Sinthai's one.
This was pretty good. Super creepy.
wow, unlimited flashlight. this is new

Is there a ost for this?
I'm still trying to figure out who Honestand Feithful is.
From the look of it the girl got out alive as the plumber just saved her life by saving her and having his life taken
ok
THIS SCARED ME
