    I kept thinking "it's finished" but then you added more and it really made it pop! Always inspiring to watch you paint.

    Glad you and your daughter like! My first oil painting was at age 11. My father (also an artist) walked me through it, I remember it like it was yesterday. These faces are not representation of peoples appearance as much as their emotions, feelings, attitudes and the interaction between them. This style started as a moment of frustration, as I was ready to discard the idea my son told me how much he liked it so I continued with it.

    Glad you like! Yes I use some opaque color and some transparent ones. There are many different mediums to try.With acrylics I use Liquitex gloss and matte mediums the most for transparency. I dont use water, it seems to break down the paint instead of thin it.enjoy!

  • @MichaelLangArt
    @MichaelLangArt  12 лет назад

    yes, drying is important with these washes, sometimes I apply a second while the first is wet and mix them right on the canvas for some surprising colors and other times the first needs to be completely dry to achieve the colors I want. The in between is bad because you will end up with blotches. Great question, thanks!

  • @MichaelLangArt
    @MichaelLangArt  12 лет назад

    I use many different reds, 3 different shades of cadmium.crimson,crimson hue, red violet,permanent rose,vermilion, etc. Its not the colors I'm using but the colors that are being created by overlapping transparent washes and as each is shaded the variety of different colors is endless. Try it, its so much fun.

    Glad you like. Yes I let the paint dry in between layers. I use a liquitex matte medium which turns clear after it dries if you use it sparingly, enjoy!

    Lieber Herr Lang, Ihre Bilder und Ihre intuitive Art mit Farben umzugehen ist einfach nur beeindruckend. Herzlichen Dank für die hier eingestellten Videos, mit denen wir Ihnen über die Schulter blicken dürfen. Das ist eine große Inspiration und ebenso eine große Hilfe, um z. B. Licht- und Schattengebung zu verstehen.. Danke! :-) Maria

    Hi Michael Lang, Like your style very much. I Started to draw & Paint at the age of 12, though it was a copied of something all ready made, but still i love to do that, I did my studies in Art & Animation, & with busy schedules of work, somewhere I lost my things. I am trying to start again but don't know where do I start, may be just scared if it didn't turn out well. Your work style inspires me & if you can guide to start with. Hope to hear from you soon

    Hello. What kind/brand of acrylic glaze do you recommend? Does your 'blending brush' have the glaze on it or do you premix on your palette? Do you wait for layers or colors to dry between colors applications? Do you treat the canvas with anything before you start? If so, what do you recommend I use? Absolutely love your style and educational videos. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience!
