    I might have to try this fabric! My husband and I are full time caregivers to my father who lives with us. Having something that could be wiped clean that isn’t cheap looking would be awesome and maybe save some of my table cloths!

    I purchased several 1 yarn cuts of Splash Fabric and have made car trash bags and cosmetics bags using the fabric to line the bags also. I absolutely love it. The fabrics are so beautiful and the line has corrordinating fabric. ❤

    Well, this was a nice surprise! Great test of the Splash Fabric! Bonus that it’s that wide. I had heard of it but thought it was likely 42” or 45”. I I’ve heard Washi tape can be adhered to the bottom of the presser foot to help it glide over vinyl.
    I have some of the iron-on vinyl that I’m e had for a few years. I was planning on eventually using it on the inside of a shower tote for camping, but I’ve been hesitant to do so. I’ll save that vinyl for small projects and put Splash Fabric on my wish list.
    Stay well!

    Would this fabric make a good, working, hooded, rain cape, poncho, or coat? A light color could protect someone from being hit by an auto. Would it leak ran around the seams?

    • @sewbecca
      @sewbecca  9 месяцев назад +3

      No real benefit other than I don’t have to measure where I stop and pivot. I mix it up - solely based on my preference at the time!

  • @marinaabad4995

    The iron test-- dry or steam? Can you patchwork piece the fabric? Or does it make too many holes so liquids can soak through the needle holes?

    • @sewbecca
      @sewbecca  9 месяцев назад +3

      Iron test: I did dry, no steam! As for patchworking the piece of fabric, I think you might be able to...but, I'd be worried about adding too many holes in the lamination part. If you want it water tight - I wouldn't patchwork with it.

    Thanks, Becca! Excellent project for testing. I’d not yet heard of Splash Fabric yet so will be checking them out as soon as I have funds.
    Do you think using rubbing alcohol on the needle to clear any laminate that decides to go for a ride vs staying on the fabric would work? I bought a crapton of needles from Wawak one time on sale and am not keen to buy nonstick needles unless I must.
    Do you have any of Sew Be It Quilts True Lock squaring tools? I’m definitely intrigued. I don’t have the Block Locs or Clearly Perfect Slotted Trimmers so now I don’t know what to get. I have been using a 5x15 ruler or a 12-1/2” square ruler but they are both bulky for the smaller HSTs.

    Hi Becca. Great tutorial on this laminated fabric. Wouldn't you normally add batting to the inside of your placemats ?

    • @sewbecca
      @sewbecca  9 месяцев назад +1

      Normally, yes - but in this case - they work just fine without the batting! There's enough substance with the lamination taht I didn't feel like it was needed. Also, had I put the batting in - I would ahve felt like I should quilt it...and I wasn't sure I wanted to put that many extra holes in the fabric. :)

    • @sewbecca
      @sewbecca  8 месяцев назад +2

      @@sewbecca It’s been years since using it. I believe it can handle a wipe. It waterproofs the fabric, water resistant. If it loses its magic just give it another spray. Seems cheaper and more available than specialty fabric.
