4:38 Now that's just wrong lol. Heather and Michelle kept working with him after the 1 year was up, and Rock, Christina Machamer, and Scott have been making public appearances with him for years

And if anyone was mistreated outside the bounds of their contract or reasonable expectations, it's not relevant if they chose to do the show or not.
The last part of this video reminded me of a story about a chef named Bernard Loiseau. He was a renowned 3-star Michelin chef in France who committed suicide. He was suffering from clinical depression which was being amplified with speculations of losing a Michelin star which lead to his suicide. Bernard's story should be a cautionary tale to those in the restaurant business who let the business consume them.
What did these contestants think that he’s gonna mentor each of them going forward?? Obviously it’s reality tv and that’s all their role will be in his eyes. If they want to make a name for themselves they have to work just as hard as everyone else in the world
Biggest example would be Jason Santos, former competitor of HK. After the show, he would later work other restaurants and even run several restaurants of his own. He would even work on Bar Rescue a couple of seasons and even come back to HK as a sous chef.
"Its a roll he can't step away from." Uuhhh yes he can, and has. He's even spoken about it. All these "chefs" sound like a bunch of toddlers in their first real kitchen.
I don’t ‘think’ he’s acting. When he gets around the kids, he’s softer - of course. But as soon as the kids are ‘serving’ food for guests’ consumption, when they screw up, he gets on the kids as well.
Not in the same way he does with adults though, he gets on them enough for them to realize there is an error that needs to be addressed. With adults, he goes in on them like "why are you making these error you wannabe or so-called executive/professional chef". Big difference in attitude between the 2.
It’s not an act. Even Anthony Boyrdain says the kitchen is beast. It makes you have to be one. Ramsey says, he gets it from the person he trained under. His family says he’s both. If you can’t stand the heat… don’t stand in the kitchen.
I don’t feel bad for Ariel from season 15 because the show had already been on for 11 years when her season aired. She could’ve googled the show and seen the stories about HK winners and contestants. Dave from season 6 even said when he won the job at the Araxi restaurant, they basically made him a host at the front of the restaurant and he rarely ever got to run the pass. The Holli Ugalde situation as well. All of these things were well known about the outcomes.
Did these chefs not watch Boiling Point? 😂 Gordon was a menace long before HK. The only valid criticism in this whole video is Ariel being mad about not being made executive chef, the rest are trying to tie Gordon’s attitude to suicides and predatory practices, which is crazy

If you notice this whole expose reveal casts from much earlier seasons of Hell's Kitchen like Tek, Van (season 6 appearance), Elsie, Joseph where GR and the insanity was off the charts yet your wait for 10+ years till Vice sees an opening for you to say this stuff warranted or not. Hopefully it changes in real life kitchen but in terms of tv show, only few are gonna give a fu** since it happened so long ago and it's well known since long ago which is probably part of the reason why GR has become softer or tamer in more recent seasons, and more recent season contestants actually have very positive things to say about the experience and about GR. I cannot speak to Ariel Malone's experience as i do not know the circumstances and quite frankly don't care, she needs to address it with whoever gave her the offer or failed to deliver on it. That being said, i do believe Hell's Kitchen tv show is nearing the end but only because GR is getting older in age and he is becoming more prone to personal accidents like the bicycle, and also wants to take on other projects while spending time with his family. This one is just pure speculation from me.
Regarding Ariel, by the time her season came up it was relatively well known that the most winners didn't get the prize that was advertised on the show. Ariel was on S15, and as far back as S2 the winner was saying she was more of a human attraction than a chef. Also, most of the prize restaurants are already fully functioning before they even start filming, so I dunno if Ariel was expecting to just go in and put the executive chef out of a job
@@Commenter839 I appreciate the clarity however if that was the case, why is it being portrayed by Ariel as new revelation? Season 15 and season 2 are 13 seasons not necessarily years apart. Also ive heard that the winners who do not accept the job or fail to get it like season 11 winner Janel (sorry for wrong spelling) for failing a drug test and season 7 winner Holli who actually blamed GR for not securing the position at The Savoy (not sure how or the details of that) get the prize money in lieu of the job. (I think in the newer seasons they changed it so you get half upfront, and the other half as a salary from working a year at the prize job, but in S15 this wasn't the case). Honestly what I think happened here is that a few of these guys saw an opportunity for an easy paycheck, and maybe some of them were upset about how things went for them and wanted to tell as many people as possible, but none of the info was exactly new, and in some cases, the information in the documentary is just not true. (For example Christina isn't the only winner to stay with Gordon after the show, and even some non-winners have gotten jobs with him. The S1 winner also blamed his post-HK addiction struggles on the show because the producers allowed him to take his prescibed medications on set) As for what happened to Holli, her prize restaurant was supposed to be in London, but after the show nobody ever reached out to her to get the process started. She had to do all the legwork on her own and was eventually told that the UK doesn't offer work visas to people for TV prizes, so she was essentially SOL because production didn't look this up before the show. It was a terrible situation and she went on interviews saying how angry she was about everything. Would've been pretty interesting to get her on the documentary to talk about her experience
