I was on the edge of my seat the whole time! 20 years ago, I might've been able to do that repair, but at my age, add to being legally blind, shaky hands, these days, there's no way I'd get that watch repair done, at all. Congratulations. I'm amazed Apple didn't code the watch to reject the battery. My phone rejected a battery repair I had a shop do. Had to send it to Apple to have the right battery installed. Yup. Nearly 300 for that job. (twice). My ipad is starting to do the swelling battery thin, now. Screen is bowed out. Surprised the glass hasn't cracked yet. Thanks for sharing.
i was thinking not to glue down the new battery. that way removing it the next time wont be so difficult. Its not like the battery is gonna go anywhere anyway with the tight fit in there
well done young Sir, great Job, I am going to replace my Grandsons and just watched your video for pointers, thank you for doing a grand job and making it look doable by a lay person
Great video! I was at the Apple store today and heard the same story. The lady tech told me that my watch was out of warranty, of course, and they could not replace the battery and offered me a replacement for 200 bucks ! I bought a new battery for 15 bucks and will replace it by myself! Apple service is rotten !
I do not have the patience to do such a tedious job. If I knew I was going to keep the watch for the next 2-3 years I would pay the $200 and not risk damaging my watch. Or, I’d have someone else do it. There are signs up around town that say “we fix iPhones”, I’m guessing they fix watches to. Your video was much better than the last one I watched though.
Thanks Marcos. The kit I bought from Amazon came with no instructions. Thanks to your video I was able to change the swollen battery and get it back together again.
Hi Marcos, I thank you for the tutorial. I had the same problem with my Apple watch, the battery swelled up. By following your instructions I was able to fix my watch. Thank you very much again I order different kit from amazon pay $16.00.
Great job, and probably just as good as the Apple geek would have done. There will be iffy and scarry go-it-alone moments with repairs like this. Thanks lil brother.
Hey great video. Was wondering can I reglue the touch force gasket down, it came up. Here’s what happened... My battery swoll up but I didn’t know, my watch was still working, and then my cat swatted my watch onto the floor which broke the seal opened it. I checked it out and I could tell that the battery was likely the problem, I had a phone where the battery swoll up and lift the screen. So I watched some videos, ordered a battery and 3m seal, I replaced the battery and just before I was about to seal my Apple Watch screen I realized it wouldn’t work because the force touch was lifted most of the way around, it’s all working and I want to carefully remove the TF gasket, clean the glue off it and use a 3M seal to glue the TF gasket back down and then use my other 3M seal to glue down the screen like you did. Or do you think I have to order a new TF gasket and if so can I use a 3M seal or do I need the T7000 to glue the TF gasket ? Or will the TF gasket already have an adhesive on it? Hope that makes sense. And thanks in advance for your help. David.
Marco, the kit that I bought from iFixit had a gasket that had a force sensor tab on it. What is that? I can’t see where it fits it just doesn’t make sense and you didn’t even mention it in your video thank you
Yep! I still have my Series one and I went to Apple and he said “ even if they do decide to change the battery, it would be $229” I just bought the kit off Amazon and they it came today I so wish me luck when I get home
"this, like, lego connector..." haha! At first, I thought you were talking about the blue spudger thing cuz, they do look kinda similar-ish. Well done, great video, thank you! I went through the same exact thing: Went to the Apple Store, they said 200 DOLLARS! Seriously?! (I'm still a little annoyed by that whole ordeal, if you can't tell.) Come to find out, the battery's ~20 bucks (paying a little more for quality, plus the adhesive and tools and everything is the way to go though). Apple! Are you guys paying attention because 200 bucks is seriously a freaking joke; it's an insult to our intelligence. Especially for a service repair that's roughly half an hour to complete. Dicks... I saw another video that suggested cutting the screen adhesive to avoid having to take the screen out. I'm not sure about that though, what do you think?
Thanks for watching! I’m glad you found it helpful. For your question, I’m not sure what you mean by cutting the screen adhesive to avoid having to remove the screen. In order to replace the battery, the adhesive needs to be heated up so the screen can be removed from the casing. In my case, the battery was swollen and the screen separated from the case itself.
Oh, I was talking about the screen adhesive, not the battery adhesive. A swollen battery popped the screen off so I didn't have to remove the screen to replace the battery. To avoid disconnecting the screen, just for the adhesive, they recommended cutting that screen adhesive to get it around the screen cables. Not sure though...
It sounds like the battery is either not connected properly, defective, or the problem lies elsewhere. If you disconnected the screen, the display could also be what's wrong now, instead of the battery. That sucks, let's think...have you tried reconnecting the old battery to see if it'll power up? Maybe start there, see if the new battery is faulty, and don't seal it all the way up until you know for sure it's fixed! Good luck

great Job MArcos!! You did it!!
i was thinking not to glue down the new battery. that way removing it the next time wont be so difficult. Its not like the battery is gonna go anywhere anyway with the tight fit in there

Awesome repair man. Very specific and you make the video fun. 😁😁

Awesome, I’m glad to hear that. It’s a shame Apple makes you pay to fix this battery issue in Apple watches.
Nice tutorial. Thank you.
Good video I fixed my watch Thanks Marcos!

Thank You for making this video, wish me luck 🤞🏼
Nice work. Appreciate the tutorial
Why not just slip the adhesive loop over the face of the watch? I’m going to try that when my adhesive arrives. Have already replaced the battery
Yes! I saw in another video that the guy did just exactly what you are saying.

I've replaced the battery and force touch sensor and still does not light up. Does that mean I'm screwed? Is there anything that I can replace?
Thank you so much your steps were easy to follow. I’m happy to be wearing my Apple Watch again. Also, you had me laughing along with you.
Yes they were. I watched other ones, are they were really bad.
You did well. I will try to fix mine too.

Perfectly done!
Awesome and detailed video man! How long did the battery last?
you can still swim with watch?
That was a brutal repair. You are very lucky you didn’t tear any flex cables. I would advise anyone to watch another video
This is the best video so far of how to watch the battery. I have watched like 10 and they were a big NO, NO. Good job Marcos!
@@albarohlf3007 LMAO anyone with any sort of know how with apple watches knows this is not how it’s done, he also needs to cut his nails.
Great work Marcos!!!
Do you need to have that sticky on the watch?
It’s a shame they wanna charge you $200 for a defect they aware of these watches cost too much money for this battery to swell mines has done it twice
yep apple is getting worse and worse with their bs....
You people need to stop sucking up to him he doesn’t know what he was doing for one thing he was talking way to much
Where do I get a GOOD battery from and tools?
Kevin W. Ray I bought the replacement battery and tools in this video from ifixit.com
WHY DIDNT YOU TAKE THE SCREEN OUT FIRST IF YOU WERE TAKING IT OUT ANYWAY 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
I just ruined my connectors watching you removing it at 8:19. Totally pryed off the nubs.THANKS
Did everything still doesn’t work I’m not sure why.
nice video, but I think I would have taken the screen off first
That battery finna blow up and act like he dont know nobody
My Apple Watch is dead from last 3. Months and now I can’t even open it ....
It may have helped me if it was swollen 😩
"this, like, lego connector..." haha! At first, I thought you were talking about the blue spudger thing cuz, they do look kinda similar-ish. Well done, great video, thank you!

My watch still has green snake of death even after battery replCement
Ugh... the one part i needed and its the part you speed up, fail!
I’m pretty sure that adhesive is flex tape
i followed everything in this video and now the watch will not charge or turn on

Well done! Shame on Apple
you should get a cheap mic that you can clip to your shirt or smth
I can’t do this so hard 😳😳😳😒😒😒
The battery is a bubble
I’ve broken my screen
I agree it was brutal. I would just buy another watch. Apple loves schmucks like me!
They just want ur money
This is why I dumped APPLE for samsung. They are crooks,....
