I bought this for my boyfriend who previously didn’t have a coffeemaker. He lives very far from a Walmart and in general most suburban retail. He needed something and this was a good deal, free shipping. He loves it, as he’s not a coffee snob. Before this maker he was having to walk to the corner store for a cup of coffee in the snow, so I had to do something :) It also saves him money from buying multiple cups of coffee somewhere. I’m happy if it lasts him a year.
Haha thats very nice of you to do. That's love right there.
Look, while this isn't an aficionado tier machine it gets the job done. It's price is equivalent to like 1 trip through a Starbucks drivethru. Roll with it for now and then one day grab him a v60 and a bag from Rise Up Coffee :)
Oof broke boy vibes lol
@@shyryTsr2k lol he broke up with me not long after this comment. I was able to get a refund :)
@@tehee- aw I'm sorry to hear that... honestly he didn't deserve you you're too good for him and his ugly self. How you feeling?
@@shyryTsr2k you're so kind. I'm fine thank you! I'm just fine these days being a single pringle haha. He was not all there mentally I discovered and he tended to let his bad experiences haunt him to where we couldn't enjoy being a couple. Seems like he forgot about me as soon as we stopped talking. People really are something :/ long distance relationships aren't worth it!
I would never buy walmart coffee beans but I really like their coffee makers. Just use some decent coffee.
Did you guys run clean cycles on the maker? You're supposed to brew with vinegar and wash it.
They're not that bad. We had one before and we just bought one to replace a Keurig that died after a year. 13 bucks beats 80 any day of the week.
That's not the cheapest Walmart coffee; that would be the classic roast in a can. We drink it; it tastes just fine.
I love cheap coffee makers ❤️!!! We all can't afford Keurig coffee makers. You guys are incredibly sarcastic. You're probably proud of yourselves. Pity.
Amen
I mean I get this. But there are way better ways to brew coffee just as cheap.
Coming from someone with every coffee gadget, grinder, and device, imaginable these make better coffee than a k cup anyways. You are in control of the amount of coffee (dose) the grind size and water. K cup all of this is predetermined and the coffee is sub par. Sometimes cheap is the way to go! I used this machine for years in high schools and it served me faithfully until it broke and I got a French press.
its not that deep theyre having fun man lol
That's not actually the cheapest one they have they have one for 9$
You probably mean the 4 cup one
Great Value coffee is what I always use. It tastes just as good as Folgers or Maxwell House. It really wouldn't surprise me if GV coffee isn't one of the name brands that is packaged and labeled to order for Walmart.
Because of this review, I bought this coffee maker AND a great big can of GV coffee for my upstairs loft office. I love how cheaply I can produce a good cup o’ Joe 😃
Had you run a pot or two of water through the pot before brewing coffee (as other makers recommend ) you might have tasted the plastic less. If it lasts a year it will be as reliable as the more expensive brands have proven to be.
Yes we ran water through it several times and brewed a couple of test pots before tasting. We noticed the plastic essence immediately and unfortunately it did not subside with subsequent brews.
You're supposed to run through 2 cycles of h2o to get rid of plastic smell and taste
i suggest trying the Great Value Columbian or the French Silk over the Donut Shop, Breakfast Blend, and other flavors..
Ok we will try those... reluctantly...
Yuban is very strong in the caffeine department and Maxwell House and Folgers coffee and Hills Bros coffee ☕ Walmart Great Value coffee is okay, i my coffee grounds from family Dollar and Dollar General sometimes , i regularly my coffee from Amazon Prime and Walmart, i have looking for a cheap Brand Coffee maker Mainstay 12 cup Coffee maker probably hold until black Friday.
Wait... did you let it do at least one cycle without the grounds and thoroughly wash the pitcher just to wash out the manufacturing residue? Brave, if you didn't. That is where the chemical taste might come from: it's actual chemicals like plastic mold release and whatever oils they use in manufacturing the metal components. And if present: conservants so the materials of the maker itself don't degrade when sitting in non-climate controlled warehouse storage for maybe years.
Price can be a LOT more important then flavour. Especially if the purpose of the drink is to give you that dark bitter kick to force-shove that cucumber sandwitch down the gullet before heading off to work. For the longest time I was all on that freeze-dried goodness because it's fast, compact and relatively affordable. Not so much anymore but I always travel with a jar of it. I have been trying to convince myself to go to whole bean but machines for those have some GLARING disadvantages that I have yet to see anyone really fix.
They are a bit slow but the mortal sin is that they are loud. Too loud. If you live in an apartment that doesn't have the best soundproofing, firing one of those puppies up in the morning makes it sound like a construction site just popped up. No bueno. Does not mater how well the java tastes if the neighbors raise a fuss or your own sense of regret lessens the enjoyment.
Did you really expect these guys to recommend the cheapest coffee maker made? They wouldn't be coffee snobs if they did.
We aren't coffee snobs... we are exemplary connoisseur of meticulously brewed caffeinated elixirs, with an unwavering predilection for the most refined and ethereal coffee experiences
Home-made coffee is always better than Starbucks!
Love your channel and would love to see more cheap coffee maker videos in the future!
Same here
Homemade coffee ☕ is the best
If you spent $17, you spent too much. Next time get everything at the Swap Meet ☕️😂
mine from walmart was 36.00 couple weeks ago - it is difficult to clean and is only 5 cups we're trying to find a coffee maker with grinder -- this pot doesn't not gets a full 5 cups i need info on a good coffee maker tired of pods that we've used for years
Most people looking on a RUclips channel that is reviewing a cheap coffee maker probably can only afford a cheap coffee maker just fyi
Thats true but this one isn't the one!
How very discerning of you, picking the one box off the shelf that ''looks like it's been tossed around a bit''.. so you could add a snarky comment. Even the user manual drew ridiculous comments, obviously you assume anyone who buys one of these is just ripe for ridicule from 'connoisseurs' like you'
I had an ancient Mr. Coffee, and broke the glass carafe. The carafe in these is an exact clone. The coffee maker complete was 12.88 on sale. Kept the carafe, threw the coffee maker away. Go figure. I looked at the more expensive coffee makers at Walmart and could not find one I liked. I like disposable filters. Nor do I want a Rube Goldberg coffee maker.
How much BPA exposure, I still hope to have kid's someday.
I purchased this from Walmart about 5 years ago. I'm not really a coffee person, I purchased it to brew iced tea in, getting the large Walmart large tea bags and put it in a gallon pitcher then fill it with cold water.
It died on me about a week ago, the water reservoir developed a crack and about half of the water ended up on the counter, but considering the price and how frequently i used it I'm about to purchase a second one simply because my "ergonomic" coffee pitcher will work in the maker allowing me to have a spare in case i get clumsy.
It looka like they modified the water reservoir, so maybe I'll get six years out of this one
I have a method with that Walmart machine, I leave the carafe out set a timer for 2 minutes stir and then place the carafe. It can make it taste a bit better on that maker. It does get way to hot I think
This coffee machine is $9.99on eBay. I ordered one after becoming a coffee drinker full time
Short cords on appliances is a safety feature to prevent people plugging them into a faraway outlet, particularly across a walking area, creating hazards. There are regulations around the length of these cords preventing manufacturers from making the cords longer. It isn't about cutting costs this time.
Honestly, did not know that. This is a good comment that positively impacted my life. (not sarcasm)

I'm glad I left the comment. Have a great week!
why is so much water at the top? i know this video is older.. but when i brewed with it, there was a lot of water where the filter is 😭
I love this coffee maker. I've had mines for almost 3 years
If you've been using it for 3 years, I'd say you definitely got your money's worth. It's not the best but it's cheap and if it works then it works!
It’s okay, I like coffee snobs, and pretense😊
They brew so slow after a couple of months.
I had this same maker in highschool I got as a Christmas present with the front fill and it was awesome. Wish they stayed with that design instead of going with the top fill. The shower head was bigger and you didn't have to remove it from it's spot.
Imagine that, drip brew coffee isnt that bad. Not surprising since this design of coffee maker has to be purposefully designed wrong to screw up.
However i must say, i never thought I could ever feel so inferior based on my coffee preferences.
Hey no need to feel inferior. If you have this coffee machine and you like the coffee it makes, then who are we to say otherwise? I will say there are methods of preparation that are.... objectively better and will help you open up new horizons in the world of coffee. But not everyone is into that so enjoy what you enjoy bro!
Coffee REQUIRES 200 degree brew temp. NO WALMART CRAP EVEN COMES CLOSE TO THAT.
Had a Mr Coffee from Walmart that last 8 years, and it woukd brew a hotter cup than many $30+ Ive tries lately.
What is worse that that, is when a $70ish dollar name brand Keurig can't make as hot or good of a single cup as a $45 Hamiton Beach.
The standard of quality is so much lower on so many products today than it was 30 years ago.
I bought this about 3 years ago after my Ninja coffee maker broke. Paid $9. I was overwhelmed by the selection of coffee makers and couldn't decide which one. Figured I'd get this dirt-cheap one and use for a few days while I did more research. 3 years later I'm still using it. But I use decent coffee. This and my aero press work for me!
That's a hell of a value, to be honest
I'm actually looking for a good brewer since living on my own. Never ordered from Starbucks before but recently I got a decent coffee by asking the guy to fix me a decent shot of caffeine that taste good without too much sugar. It cost me 6 bucks but it was good and just what I needed before my long walk home. I think I'll try a cowboy coffee pot. The review here was worth watching and thanks!
Look into manual brewing methods like french press. The results will be much better
the snobbery here...jeez
Were you impressed?
just for measuring the coffee you guys won the Like 😂 and is Great Value Coffee not Great Taste haha 🤣
haha thanks! We didn't take this one too seriously. I must say it's amazing how they are able to produce an entire functional coffee maker, sell it for $12 and still make profit. Pretty crazy
I"ll never get back my 15 minutes. Wasted...
This is a mean comment and my feelings are hurt. Hope you're happy
I have a Walmart coffee maker from 2012. It still works fantastic. In those days it was called Rival not Mainstays. It was only $9 so cheap stuff can last. The only issue is the white does stain overtime. The inside of my filter tray is brown. I would recommend buying a black coffee maker. I will next time.
Wow. The end was very rude. #CoffeeMakerLivesMatter
😂
Thank you it was educational I do think the Great Value Fresh roast would have been a better choice.(Even though I am curious about the Robusta coffee now. I will try it and see what I think about it.) I am going to try that That said I used the smaller version of that coffee maker, I washed it out before the first use. I am guessing that was why i didn't get so mach of that plastic taste. Better filters do help a lot as well (I noticed a more paper taste with them than other brands I have tried. Anyways just wanted to say thank you!
Had gotten the Great Value brand mocha, since thats all Walmart had instore. It tastes burnt, though might just be the flavor of that coffee. Saw this randomly pop up as I went looking for the difference of price on New England Coffee. It is interesting what sort of prices coffee makers are as well
I love your reviews I feel I learn so much by your in depth explanation of things you try!
Sara Lee makes Great Value Coffee
I bought one and after about thirty uses equipped trip and ride
Sorry to hear that! For the price it's still a decent value though if you think about it
🤣😂🤣😂
you guys are hilarious you made my day better with this cheap thing! 🤣🤣🤣
❤️❤️❤️❤️
I just bought this machine in april of 2024 and it is NOT 12 cups! It is marked on the carafe and the reservoir 12 cups but only holds 8 cups. This isn't a deal breaker for me but it is false advertisement from the manufacturer. Buyer beware!
