I love this machine. Getting ready to do a 100-hour review. Put it in ECO mode and it won't rev the engine like that when you start to move. ECO mode makes it maintain the same RPM on the engine. Well, I see you found that. LOL! When digging stumps, turn ECO off and it can dig like a boss. That travel alarm switch is a beautiful thing! The regional VP of sales smiled when that was the first thing I thanked him for it. I'm a big dude (6'2" and 230) and the cab is a bit small. Yanmar has it going on for sure. Glad I bought this unit.
Nice. I think it’s a really good little hoe. I’d like to have one. Check out my brand new Facebook page. Yanmar excavator owners. Join if you would. It will be another outlet for people to find out about their equipment before and after they purchase.
Awesome! I definitely want to see a video of you moving the block, as I’m in the market for a mini and looking at the SV40 and a VIO50. I’m waiting for the 6 way blade on the SV40 which my dealer says should be available this spring. The other machines I’ve narrowed it down to is the Kubota Kx-040 6 way blade or a used Takeuchi TB-138 FR. Anyone have any feedback on those machines? Keep up the good work! Thanks, Jeff.
Hitachi / Johndeere are good machines but pricing in the area is stupid 1 dealer for multi state territory. Kubota seem to be making a name I would say #2 or #1 in my area for units in use up there with Deere Hitachi . Lots of dealers but never been impressed with the machines. Kobelco Used to own a 50 I loved how smooth it was, seemed to run nicer then any rentals I had for the Kubota. But I don't' think the entire state has a dealer any more. Honestly looking for something to use on my property - maybe hire out to others off and on. I have a day job not quitting that but this Yanmar is spiking my interest and if I could make a few $$ every so often wouldn't' be a bad thing. Love the videos so far :)
Id run a 24' or maybe a 30' tooth on it. Its normally faster to be able to handle the bucket well than it is to pile more material in the bucket. But that's just me. It depends if you are wanting to use it all the time. It would run it but it get tippy when your in wet material and in hard to dig ground you will slow down that much more.
@@skidco Thank you for the reply! Our souls conditions out here are mostly sand and light loam. I’m looking to pick up a little volumetric efficiency without having to jump into the CDL world 🤦♂️
If you didn’t want the extra weight of my machine I think it’s a really good excavator. I’d probably have a hard decision if I didn’t already have my 50. I do allot of pond repair and kinda need the extra weight to pick up heavy stuff. But If you don’t need the capacity. I think it’s a good competitor. Almost as much reach as my 50. But my 50 with the angle blade weighs 11,150 pounds. I had to look it up.
@@skidco I was very curious as I was between the 40 and the 50. I went with the 40. I think the next one I purchase will be the 80 or 100. One part of me wishes I went with the 50 because of the wider footprint, but for what Jobs I do now the 40 works.
SV 40 gets you 8"-9" of additional reach and dig depth over a VIO 35....that's it. 1,300 more pounds heavier thna an SV40 to get you that. 14 more HP and less digging force than a VIO 35....Haul more weight, burn more gas, FOR NOTHING. SV 40 is a turd by the numbers compared to a VIO 35.
9” addition reach makes a big difference. 1300lbs helps when you try to lift bigger rocks and stumps especially with the counter weight. Hp is the biggest plus for me. Vio35 struggles pushing dirt and climbing

Oh. . .that air and heat freeze and burn me out. Balance is my biggest complaint.

Great video of the SV40!!! Looks like a capable machine!!!
I thinks its going to be a very popular machine.
Nice. I love Yanmar. The SV40 is the perfect weight for towing on a 14K trailer to stay under the 26,000lb GCWR rule to tow without a CDL.

Nice video. So you said that it boosted the hp (fuel delivery) when tracking. It's rated at 39 hp. What does it boost to?
they told me it raised it 2 horsepower. its 34 horse net at 2000 rpms then when you track around it moves it up to 2200 rpm and makes 36 horse net.
@@skidco that's interesting. So 41 hp gross I guess?
@@wpog8453 39hp gross I believe
Have you tried running a 30” or 36” trenching bucket on the 40? If so, how’d it handle it?
If you are talking about the shallow bucket it will run both just fine.
@@skidco I was referring to a tooth bucket

@@ryanslipper7869 It should be fine unless it really wet but of coarse you would already be carful with wet heavy material.
I can hear it
Is that an 18” bucket?
Yes
Is there more leg room in the 50 or the sv40?
about the same. I like the new style pedals in the sv40. I'm ordering them for my 50.
Ya I’m having a hard time deciding between the 40 and 50.. I have a 35 right now and the cab is a little tight
not really. they both have plenty of room for me. pedals are pretty easy to run on both. I like the new style pedals. I'm switching mine out.
