I would be lost in the drone world without this channel, this is where you come to compare and decide what you are going to buy, because it’s all here with the needed info to help you decide, it’s really hard to know what to buy, you really do make all that deciding part much less taxing on the brain. I had the first one in my cart for a few days. I keep thinking there was room for improvement and now they incorporated FPV that made a huge difference but they got to get the display on the controller and data in the goggles for me to be seriously interested.

When you watch the video, look for when I display the words GOPRO Footage and FPV Video to see which is which
regarding the swan K1 with dji Caddx Air Unit - does the dji camera installed instead of the default camera? Do you see video on the RC screen - or only in the goggles ?
do the goggles connect to the flight controller OSD or do you use the skydroid default receiver ?
The DJI CAMERA replaces the usual camera so you no longer get a video feed on your controller. The goggles connect to the CADDX AIR UNIT and there currently is no OSD feedback.

Such a shame that the transmitter range is a woeful 1.8 - 3 miles at best. I would have considered buying one for sure if it wasn’t for that, looks like a nice piece of kit.

I get the distinct impression that this aircraft is a bit like a Parrot Swing on some *VERY SERIOUS* 'roids, hahaha!!! ;-)

Seems there is no real cooling airflow around the Air Unit, doesn't it overheat?
Only if the drone is not flying and it is sitting for a period of time. When flying it cools.
What is the problem with the System having an OSD? For ages DJI FPV had a bare bones basic OSD. I believe it’s better now and functioning pretty well with DJI System and other boards. Now the SWAN has no OSD, but they are working on getting it. What seems to be the issue. I would have thought that this OSD issue should have been rectified a long time ago. It must be nice flying with a clear screen but for me not having a direction home, distance to home, etc etc is a deal breaker. I will just stick to flying my Quad which has a working OSD.
If they used a Flight Controller (F4) unit from any of the major brands than OSD would be there and you'd be able to set it up in Betaflight. However, their telemetry system does not come from an F4 flight controller and it is not setup in Betaflight, so that is currently the issue.

You get that digital fpv system if you buy the DJI fpv, is that correct? I need a new drone, considering that DJI FPV. I crashed my Evo, ripped camera off of the gimbal, gimbal still tries to work, and the drone flies perfectly, but no camera. I have 4 nearly new batteries and the fancy charging hub. Autel won’t even respond to an inquiry on the cost of a new camera. I hate to waste shipping it to them only to find out it’s not worth the cost to repair it. I don’t want the digital system for the Evo, but I am very interested in fpv in general. I figured that system will work with any fpv , like your using it here.
I know an Evo and the DJI fpv are radically different. Stabilized camera drones certainly have their place and I miss my Evo terribly, I do want to go beyond just smooth level flight and simulated banking with a regular drone.
The unit shown in this video is the one they sell with the DJI FPV Goggles and DJI AIR UNIT in the SWAN (comes ready to fly).

I have DJI goggles V2 and was considering buying DJI air unit and using it on the cheaper non-fpv swan. How would this go?
Yes, but just remember that your DJI Goggles, out of the box, are set to the Camera Drone hobby and you need to go into the menu of your goggles to the ABOUT tab and change it to the RC FPV Hobby (it is worded differently, but you'll figure it out).

NO, it only flies for 33 minutes, absolute maximum in ideal conditions. I've tested it many times.

Body is waterproof but the electronics are certainly not
Why you put a GoPro on it when you already have a FPV sight in your googles?
In the FPV Hobby, you have a camera for the PILOT and you add a camera for FILMING.

To my knowledeg the transmission from the remote to the plane itself ranges up to 12 km, whereas the connection from the FPV googles to the camera within the drone itself is only stable up to 5km. Do you have any solution on how to improve transmission range btw Google and plane camera, maybe to build in another camera into the plane?

Thanks for the video. For the FPV camera on the Swan K1, are you using the DJI Air unit camera or the Swan stock camera? I mod my Swan K1 with DJI Air unit as well but I have my Air unit mounted on the outside of the Air frame. I found the Air Unit over heated very quickly when I mounted on the inside of the air frame like you did. The over heating happens when I have the Swan K1 on the ground before take and I'm waiting to get satellite locks on the Swan.
Mine was installed straight from the factory. If you purchase the Digital version, it comes as shown in this vid. It does get hot for sure, so I usually fly the plane around for a couple of passes before plugging in my goggles. The FPV unit is cooled by then.
Lol I got the same problem. Hot is an understatement for where I am.

Hey Steve! just a question, will they be adding the telemetry to the DJI FPV version as a firmware update or is it coming later in newer versions of the SWAN? Awesome video again Steve!
My guess is it will be in newer versions. However for existing versions they can easily just add voice from the radio that reads out speed and height and distance (just a firmware update necessary).

Strange they left the gopro mount low enough to have the strap in the FPV - I'm guessing they will revise that or 3d printing community will come up with an adapter to get it up out of the way.
Specs say 3-5 km RC range, you talk about miles FPV range. This is misleading, don’t you think?

@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I fly FPV planes and drones for 8 years, but, please, enlighten me: if the build-in RC link is only good for 2 miles, then how does the 8 miles DJI FPV range make any difference?
@@eolinium Let’s see 1.6 Km is pretty much a mile. That makes 2 miles just over 3 Km. The RC has telemetry up to 5km on a good day, and if you use the Waypoint software mentioned in my first vid, you can send the drone off for 40 km. I can tell by your question you are old school Analog and not DJI FPV. Out of the box DJI FPV will give you a few miles in range. Simply changing the antennas on your goggles and DJI air unit will give you a crazy range. If still lost, just watch one of the thousand DJI air unit range tests.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 You crack me up, captain )). I flew digital long before DJI FPV. Connex ProSight, fpv.blue, OpenHD, only then DJI FPV. FYI, DJI FPV is not 'few' or 'crazy' miles in range. It started with a hard limit of 4 miles, and then over a year ago it had changed to 8 miles at the 50 Mb/s bitrate setting. Wether you actually get signal all the way there depends on your antennas and how you put them on the craft and on the goggles.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 GPS flying doesn't count as the true range, of course. Very few amateurs fly GPS missions, I don't know a single one. It's freaking boring. The true range is the shortest of the RC or video link. All my planes and quads have DJI FPV and FrSky R9M RC link, so my range is indeed 8 miles, and I fly there.

I do wish there was away that you could get the digital video feed on the controller vs having to rely on Goggles...you don't always have a spotter with you plus the entry price would be a bit less expensive if you didn't have to buy the Goggles upfront....and yes I know you could go with analog but I don't do analog..that's soooooooooo 2019. 😉 Also it would nice if you had an option to fly this with 4G like the Parrot Disco mod when you REALLY need long range flight...I'm jussayin....

One of our club members in AZ has a 12' version that is Completely Autonomous.
He programs it with a computer and launches it Vertically out of it's cradle. It does it's thing all by it's self. The Battery is the size of a Motorcycle Battery.

When this video was made, everything was stock out of the box. The only thing these older models suffered from was slow GPS acquisition.
As I understand, this machine can't stay at one place and take video(camera will take picture from the sky)
Hmmmm..... are you missing something here? The nose of the drone points straight up, so when hovering you are taking a picture of the sky.

Good video. Nice to know I didn't miss anything. But I haven't flown mine much because of the heat. Now if I come out to Canada you have to let me do a Chase video with my DJIFPV drone. I like chasing new and exotic aircraft.
I only have one set of goggles or I'd let someone fly mine while I Chase it.
I have tried chasing the SWAN with an FPV drone and it all depends on the pilot of the SWAN (in the first vid I attempt a follow with the DJI FPV drone). So far I have not had good luck due to newbie pilots flying the SWAN and changing flight course plans at the incorrect times.

K1 Swan became really popular so fastly because of its various amazing features it has!

@@FahadKhan_3007 i'm not too attached to brands, so DJI FPV yeah its a consumer fpv drone, not really special when you fly fpv already, the SE was just the mini targetting lower budget regions (cf captain drone's video)- the nano and lite are just smaller/affordable versions, sure some of us can now buy them thats great but flying wise ZzZZZZzz
