Great video, well done! From the picture of your pedalboard it looks like the wah is placed before the ds-2, try placing it after the DS-2 and the Big Muff instead...you'll hear how it sounds...John Rules! 😜
Great work and brought back some memories of old riffs I learned but forgotten. I never took the time to try the effects I just loved the parts for playing - but good job mocking up similar sounds and I love how John used certain effects like the chorus with a fairly high rate but would play busy riffs that disguise the lfo predictability
Good stuff. I think he usually has everything cranked on the DS2. Volume, tone, and distortion all the way to the right. I’m not sure it’s not every song but he’s known for doing that.
You have a great tone. I love it. But I think without the Boss CE-1 you are missing the most important device for a John Frusciante board. I bought a clone very late because it is so expensive. Today I would buy it first.
Great job! Everything sounded quite accurate except for the chorus. Something still wasn’t right on that but I think it was maybe 75% of the way there.
I liked your parting comment Jason, somewhat pre-empting RUclips naysayers who can always do better. You did a great job....did you totally nail everything, of course not, your great isn't exactly the same for starters. However, in terms of demonstrating 'close enough' with just a few pedals, albeit John doesn't have an array of crazy rare pedals anyway, that was great! Perhaps the greatest difference here was the amp, but then again it just shows unless your aim is to be a John clone only, you don't need everything to be the same, to play some John. 🎸🎸🎸

Excellent work. A hidden gem of a channel
On the tube.
john uses mode 2 on both his ds-2s and it sounds much more john like when everything is at max
That "under the bridge" sound, awesome play Dude.

Some very cool classic sounds that bring back some great memories. Very cool video as always
Nice video, very in depth and inspiring. I've been following Frusciante's tones for years. My favorite of his is Wet Sand, that solo screams
I’m more a Frusciante fan than a RHCP fan, and I really appreciate this walkthrough! Thanks.
Them together is where its at
Me too. He’s got some nice solo albums.
Nice job man! Never knew that the dynacomp is used that many times. It really sounds like the quintessential Frusciante pedal 🌶️
Once you hear it in his tone you can't unhear it.
Awesome. Amazing job and playing. Loved it.
super helpful!
Great video! Not a Chili Peppers fan at all but love seeing how to get the tones. I think you nailed it! Solid work!
Thanks man
Great demos and explanations, big RHCP fan trying to learn all their stuff, thanks.
great playing and demonstration mate, really appreciate it!
Enjoyed! Thanks!
Thanks

Yeah, I didn't copy his settings because I'm not running through the same amp and other gear. I just used my ears.
Nailed it
Out of those pedals I have three of them. I sound nothing like John Frusciante. Hahahahha

@@mrpeanutbutters5728 I bought a CE-1 since making this video
Great video!!!
Thanks 👍

Probably the amp, he uses old Marshall Plexi's and silver jubilee's.
on the dani california solo, john plays it on the 12 or 14th fret
and for the wah at the end bit, that wasn't the solo, that was just going up the fret board. john does like a blues thing
Doesn't John use Mode 2 though? I personally use it on Mode 1 as I dislike mode 2.

Thanks man, good to hear from you
Very informative. Not to be super negative, but I feel that John has a much throatier tone than anything I heard here
I've since learned that he uses his DS-2 dimed going into this already driven Marshalls
What’s your take on the mxr micro amp or do you recommend the comp more
Well, I know he also uses the micro amp. I'm not sure if he uses it to push his amps or as a solo boost.
6:50 - Champagne Supernova vibes!
I think you left a lot out, you definitely missed a lot of the By the Way songs,
That was a personal decision, I'm not really a fan of that album and it hasn't really stood the test of time.
