    Thanks for the video, well produced as always. I'm sure by now, you have found that the red LED in the bag is for testing and demo. Mine had a capacitor included for testing and demo too. I thought the 3 metal pins were spares but... they turn out to be for calibrating. Put one pin in 1,2 and 3, hit the yellow button and it automatically calibrates. Cool, huh?! 👍😃

    A transformer doesn't surprise me. It identified an 18V zener. That means it needs to be able to generate at least 18V to measure the breakdown voltage.

    2. I have been using this one it was a kit. And I know that you like kits. Mine has a black case that I prefer but the clear one is nice too. Just don't drop it in water. It will die. Don't ask me how I know this. It is available on Amazon.

    I just followed your link to buy another one. The funny thing is that I have three more versions, from the first monochrome that came out, a curve tracer, two scopes with built in component tester, a totem of test equipment and a platoon of handhelds that can test everything an electron can pass through.
    Either way, it's not only useful, it's also an interesting toy.
    ...I think I lost control of my addictions.

  • @TheEmbeddedHobbyist

    it measured the 18V zener, so it look like there is a boost converter being formed with the inductor/transformer.

    The pins are supplied are a test plug to do the calibration. Put them in (do not separate them) to connect 1, 2 and 3 on the socket together then press start. The device will go into self-test mode. Follow the on-screen prompt to remove the test plug.

    the LED the small cap & the 3 pin thing is for calibrating it if it needs to be calibrated. i had the Danui version of this one. blow it up by mistake with a non discharged cap. . felts like crying. have the one the has a square wave out put and duty cycle on it too. its named after the main chip on them. but show of sent off for a new chip of Danui when i "KILLED" it all that time back.

    8:23 charging built into it? i think it's the battery protection for the battery. maybe the charging circuit i.e a buck converter for the battery is on the main pcb which explains the transformer like inductor on the pcb.

  • @pault6533
    @pault6533 Год назад

    I have a newer one and the inductor isn’t present. The board is a dark blue on mine so a newer revision. I replaced the dinky lithium cell with a 2400 mAh mammoth. Had to remove the connector and solder the wires directly to the board, otherwise it fit just fine and charges great. USB Doctor says 5V 630 mA going into the microUSB.

  • @Tech-Relief
    @Tech-Relief 2 года назад +1

    Yeah... But you leave it for a week or so and it is dead; the battery is discharged since it has a standby current. So on mine I put a little toggle switch on it to disconnect the battery. Now it stays charged almost forever, also it is not very accurate for testing capacitors and inductors and the range is limited. However, I tend to use it often to just test if a component is functional or to check transistor pinouts.

    9:03... My bet is that is a step-up transformer since some component tests seem to be well above the 3.7V DC the battery supplies. I assume anyway. ;) I just got one of these testers for basic use (T7-H)... not expecting it to be super accurate... but still useful.

    I'm pretty sure it was a 324p since it had 44 pins compared to the 32 pins on the 328p chips that I see. Also, I bought a LCR-T7-H and I have a 328p which is supposed to be worse than the 324p in both power and capability, but the T7-H is supposed to be an upgrade over the T-7 so I think I also may have gotten scammed.

    I have one of these but it's called a TC1. I have a few different ones but this is my favourite although I had to install a proper on/off toggle switch as the battery was always flat when I wanted to use it. Even the IR code reader helped me diagnose an intermittent incorrect code being sent by a remote control.

    I think they're getting worse. I bought one last year and it works fine. So then I decided to buy another one for my other tool kit a few days ago and it doesn't even work the same exact way at all. In fact when you try to turn it off all it does is change the stupid language. From English to Chinese. Whereas the first one I was able to shut it off by pressing the button for a couple seconds. Also the first one did use the IR detector. The second one this new one, doesn't work at all and I paid more for the second one piece of shit is what it is how can you trust it if they keep changing the firmware?
