    Is that why they sag as we age. That's what I'm thinking.

      No. It's due to Cooper's tendons that hold up the breast. They are known colloquially as "Cooper's droopers".

    Unless you’re like me and you’re 40 and have heterogeneously dense breasts. In which case I got DCIS and had a single mastectomy. All clear tho now and doing quite well three weeks post op! 🥳

    I am 61 and have Extremely Dense breasts. Each year before the mammogram they tell me that they will get less dense. However, afterwards when they see the results they say I have the breasts of a 30 year old and they are still extremely dense! The doctor should also have said that density can cause increased breast cancer risk.

      In my country the standard for dense breasts is mammogram And ultrasound. The older I get, the more often I have to do the ultrasound to keep watch…

    Why would you lose tissue? Why does it become all fat?

    • @DrLizORiordan
      @DrLizORiordan  9 месяцев назад

      Because your hormone levels drop when you reach the menopause so your breasts aren't being stimulated to function and they turn to fat

      I've had saggy breasts since I was around 20, I think it's because I sleep upside down or to the side. Also, I don't drink a lot of water.

    • @steamyvegetables1445
      @steamyvegetables1445 Месяц назад

      @@vpu2 I heard it's because of genetics well for my case, cuz as soon as I got boobs they sagged😭😭😭.
      But for you it can depend on weight gain/loss, pregnancy and breastfeeding also just having large boobs in general. I don't think your sleeping position matters or the amount of water you drink.

    I wish the doctors told me about this when they removed one because I couldn’t nurse my 1 y old only child at age 25y Total breast mastectomy 7 lymph nodes taken out ,fast heavy chemo and radiation along with a tram flap tummy tuck. Sure he matched both breast by stuffing damage one with my belly fat but at now age 57 I am way lopsided and weird plus lopsided fat belly .

    So if I am 47 and have dense breast what does that mean or do for my mammograms once per year?

  • @steffa648
    @steffa648 3 месяца назад

    Great visual!! So why would mammograms be advised when fat absorbs radiation?? The older you get, the more fat in the breast, the greater likelihood of breast absorbing radiation because of more fat.
