  • On Tuesday evening November 1st, 2016, veteran journalist Dan Rather joined Friends of the LBJ Library members to speak about his remarkable career spanning six decades in print, radio, and television news. The program was moderated by LBJ Library Director Mark Updegrove.
Rather, a native Texan, has covered almost every major news event since the 1960s, including President John F. Kennedy’s assassination, the U.S. civil rights movement, the Vietnam War, the Watergate scandal, the fall of the Berlin Wall, and the 9/11 terrorist attacks. He was anchor and managing editor of CBS Evening News for 24 years. He now serves as president and CEO of News and Guts, an independent production company.
The evening was co-hosted by the Dolph Briscoe Center for American History at the University of Texas at Austin.

Dan Rather certainly lacked insight when he made a conscious decision to lie to his viewers about George W.Bush. Although I didn't care for either Bush president, Rather shamed himself forever by deliberately lying about W. And he was brought down by a man who simply knew the history of the Selectric typewriter. It's sickening to listen to this adulation of a man with no ethics.

It’s insightful hearing Mr. Rather thoughts on Nov. 2020. His thoughts were right on. We are living the worst nightmare.
