A month before this in Dec 93..The Imago records person was at the Phoenix show in a club... She invited me and a few others to go on the bus after the show.. Aimee looked a bit put off as if she was being forced to do this meet and greet with fans... She signed my WHATEVER shirt "To My Love God" During the show I kept screaming for "Ive Had It" and her face really looked like she didnt wanna do it... At the very end she finally gave in..man that was some experience... I was 23 and that day I had just arrived in Phoenix from Ca. where I had seen her play The Coach House ..i think it was called. I was actually moving to Phoenix and had no idea she was gonna be there..i just picked up a paper when I got into town and was shocked to find that Id get to see her again only a few days after the Ca. show. Thats my story..
I agree she is so under appreciated I was blessed to have met her a couple times when she flew out of LaGuardia airport and I worked there she was so humble and nice and kind she was more than shocked a fan approached her she really has no idea how amazing she is 🤗
It's been nearly 30 (god) years, but I had the peculiar experience at the time of its release of hearing and loving this epic breakup album from the perspective of the one breaking up. It didn't deter me. I knew there would be a time I would be in Aimee's shoes. I was, about 3 years later. Beautiful album, one of the tops all time.
Saw her in Munhall PA a few months ago. Aimee Mann, Andy Partridge, Kirsty McColl, and Elvis Costello are the greatest lyricists of the later 20th/early 21st centuries.
What a great song. It takes me back to my college days in 1993-94 and a beautiful girl who broke my heart. But this song always made me feel just that little bit better! I love Aimee's songs and wish she'd play live in the UK-Ireland more often. She is hugely underrated as a songwriter.
@@katwashere194 OMG I feel 💯 the same. I’m in NYC but I will travel anywhere to see her I was so lucky to meet her in LaGuardia airport when I worked for TSA LOL 😂 I yelled her name- I’m in full uniform it’s 5 am & I was so excited 😆 she looked terrified! But then when she realized I was in fact a fan she was so humble & cool& she was happy I recognized her 🥰- of course not one co worker around me - knew who she was - they were all like 20 something and listened to garbage music lol I was like OMG THAT WAS Aimee Mann!! I wish I got to talk more with her that day - but still happy I got the chance to meet her 🙂
It took me literally years to acquire a taste for Amy's voice, which I kept insisting on because the songwriting was simply superb. So glad I soldiered on.
Yes! And one night several years ago, at a little club in LA called Largo, she was taking requests, I yelled out “Stupid Thing! It’s the best song ever!” She laughed “Stupid Thing it is, for the woman who said it’s the best song ever!” She said she hadn’t played it in years. I cried! She sings it regularly now.
Anybody know where to find the video of her performance on a late night show for "I'm with stupid"? Not sure of the song, I just remember her performing in shiny foil spaceman pants. First time I heard her, been enjoying ever since.
David Morgan Search for "No Choice in the Matter" on my channel..... it's there. There is also a playlist with both clips that I've uploaded so far, which includes that song, as well.
@@LaughingStock_ hahaha what is your problem? What a douchebag! I’ll call her bass skills killer and you can call them whatever you want….Tiger. You must be so fun at parties
What an amazing performance. Absolutely killer playing by Jon Brion here too. Thanks so much for uploading.
You're very welcome! Thanks for the note of appreciation :-)
She's an all around fantastic musician and song writer. Highly underrated.
Not underrated by me
Underrated by who?
What’s her rating?
One of my favorite songs of Aimees😊❤🎤🎸

Wonderful. I could listen to her all day long.
An incredible triumph of power and great beauty.
I love this song, thank you 😊
Mann she's great.
A songwriter, Bass player, Guitar player, Singer, heavenly heavy sound.I advise you to LISTEN

She is a great musician. She should be better known than she is.

Yo pienso lo mismo
Do you know the song voices carry?
perfect as usual!

The musicianship on show here is amazing, particularly Aimee and Jon
I love Aimee, and I love Jon Brion. I hope they'll work together again soon.
Gorgeous solo.

Wow!! If I met her I would not be able to even speak 😂 I just love her music, her intelligence, her kindness, her coolness...on and on and on
Love you Aimee. Love you Jon. Miss you guys.
This is amazing.
Jon Brion on TWO instruments of course :D
+Uyen Phan He's one of my favorites. So talented!
Which guy is Brion? The short haired guy playing the Strat or the long haired guy on the left?
Long hair on piano and then guitar.
Such an incredible musician 😀
Man, I love her great fretwork as the song comes to the close.
Such a Unique Composer ! Thank you for this video !
AM is a great and underappreciated songwriter, but JB's performance and solos are remarkable.
Love this by Aimee Mann and Scarlet
You sound awesome Aimee us singing bass players gotta stick together.....great song ...
Damn. This is great.
Absolut geil...
Still my favourite!
Genius
The guy goes through piano and guitar.Quite nice.
Im in love aimee

I loved her voice from the first time I heard it!
That first album is great.
Wow....
This song resonates so much with the person I stupidly fell for.... 💔 😑
Three guitars!
I saw you play at the Empire Shepherds Bush about 30 years ago when you were working with McMannus
Coming over soon?
Shh...voices Carrie ❤
Female bass players dont get known ...Tina Weymouth from the Talking Heads is another. She was Til Tuesday.
is it the best song ever?
No

She is a great bassist and song writer..
does anyone know where her performance of Rip In Heaven from Letterman is???
Rest in Peace Milt...
Her bass skills are so under rated. She’s a killer bassist
Absolutely! The bass lines she created for the songs in “I’m with stupid” are pretty remarkable.
Easy, tiger, she's adequate, that's all - and that's all that's needed. To describe her bass skills as "killer" is WAY over-the-top.
@@LaughingStock_ hahaha what is your problem? What a douchebag! I’ll call her bass skills killer and you can call them whatever you want….Tiger. You must be so fun at parties
@@LaughingStock_ condescending mansplaining douchebag 🤣🤣🤣🤣
What's that weird thing that she's doing with her mouth at the very end of the video. I didnt know she was capable of that
basically a yodel harmonizing with the lead guitar. does sound good.
Steven Wilson on acoustic guitar? Lol
Just once I want to inspire someone to write a song this eviscerating about me
Jon Brion on piano. Who is the guitar player?
Something odd here as she is wearing a wedding ring but didn’t marry until 1997. Does anyone know why?
I got my red vines❤
Dont know what to say 🍯
Strat solo is way too loud?
Opal, it is you!
how is she
I am looking for a girl who reminds me of Amee Mann
Lets surf malibu...
Whatever that acoustic player is chewing needs to go.
