I haven't seen anyone else mention this, but you do not have to turn the wheel to unlock the 4 pro. You can long press to unlock as well. I found this on accident from muscle memory after using my other lights more often.
As a full time firefighter I have carried a seeker since they came out. Dont need a tactical light. Until they came out with the turntable switch I had problems. In fact, the model before that started the holster on fire. After that I would unscrew the flashlight to prevent my hip from starting on fire, which is worse the having to rotate the button. Maybe with kids at the beach thats an issue but in a real world situation, not so much.
Thanks for demonstrating the difference. I saw the mrgunsngear video right before this one and I clicked on the Olight store website. On their page I saw the seeker 4 pro first but then I saw the regular seeker 4 so I just bought the regular seeker 4 for $66.
I've been wanting a flashlight with a good throw and a less bright flood so the seeker 4 fits the bill.
I still have my 5 D cell Maglite flashlight that I purchased back in the early eighties(overhauled once) that it would have good throw that I could illuminate a road sign 4/10 of a mile away but it's too large unless I use it in a vehicle and can double as a billy stick(a cop's fav tool of behavior modification)
I prefer the magnetic charging over type c they should've added both like the Warrior X4
Harley, I understand your point on the switch, but I far prefer the on on the Seeker 4 Pro. When walking I can increase brightness to see something and then just dial it back without have to inconveniently go through other levels, either too bright or too dim. If the light is just removed from its holster, it can be turned on with a simple press. Or it can be turned on any time with a press and hold. Also when flashlights get this bright I like reducing the chances of unintentionally melting something. I think the Seeker 4 has its place, but I far prefer the Seeker 4 Pro.
The rotary switch is great! Just so much faster to use and control. Some people forget you can still use it as a button! Push and Hold to get moonlight and it'll cycle through the pre-set modes and push for off. It literally is best of both words. I now dislike all my button only lights unless it's a tactical tail button.
Dang it, I was in the fence, now I feel like I gotta get this one too!
Get the pro, much more usable light and can charge 2 different ways. I still like the magnet for sticking on things. If you want a thrower the seeker 4 isn't that good and sucks as a flood. Olight has better throwers available.
@@jascospeed I have 2 of the pros already
Same lol I have both. They’re both awesome
Seeker 4 pro is the best much brighter and the switch is great
I think you said it best, while the rotating switch isn't the end of the world, it's not intuitive. As the age old saying goes, keep it simple stupid, and nothing is more simple than single push button. It's also nice that this is more of a thrower than an area light. Nice quick review!
Forgot to mention, while I love the magnetic chargers on a majority of my Olights, being able to use USB-C is also great since 80% of my other devices use it.
Thanks for the review, I personally prefer the Warrior series of Olight’s.
Me too. With this one, I Can't use turbo more than 3 min.. Once it heats up. It gets very dim until it cools down. I keep going back to my olight warrior 3. It seems brighter and turbo stays longer
I absolutely love the Seeker 4 Pro and the rotary dial is fantastic.
The Pro smashes it in those beam shots. So good I have 3 of em 😉
Rotary dial is awesome! I wish my seeker 4 had one too
Hey brother I can turn my seeker 4 on while it’s charging! Just wondering if yours will as well!!? Thanks
The seeker 4pro is better. You don't have to rotate the dial to unlock it. You can push and hold just like the S4. The pro has two was to unlock. Yes you can keep the S4 unlocked but that's how people keep burning their pants bc they aren't using the lock.
I thought the Seeker lineup was supposed to be floods... now this one is a throw? WTF??? LOL. Other than turn it on, you can use the Pro button the same way. But being able to scroll up and down is really great. Very happy to see USB-C, but it should have both thought USB-C has ability to go MUCH higher charge rate.
I have both the seeker 4 and seeker 4 pro. They both have a 2A limit built into them I think. Charging on 4 amps takes the same amount of time
There’s literally nothing wrong with the rotary switch on the seeker 4 pro. Leaps better than the 3 pro
Except for the fact that you cannot manually lock out the flashlight. It has happened numerous times that I have put my Seeker 4 Pro in my pocket without waiting for it to automatically lock and it has turned on in my pocket and increased the brightness on its own, burning a hole on my pocket 😑
That is the reason why I don't carry the Seeker 4 Pro anymore.
(And no I can't use the holster because it is faulty. It doesn't lock out the flashlight, it just starts flickering.)
@@Aerox90You make a good argument for proximity sensors; especially ones that can be shut off for those who prefer that. I'd rather protect my clothing, skin, and battery charge. I would contact Olight customer service to see if a new holster or something else would fix your issues. My holster/light combo works as advertised. I did check and manual lockout by twisting the cap is not a viable option on the Seeker 4 Pro. My holster locks out with no flickering. It can be overridden if you push and hold the power button; so it is not total. I do recall a post by someone who could not use the holster to charge their Seeker 4 Pro, without holding it in place. I suspect their are some that are warped a bit or out of spec some other way. I hope you get it resolved because the Seeker 4 Pro is a great flashlight for walking around at night, etc.
Type c isn’t an improvement over any mag charging. Can’t charge any faster
I wonder if Olight offered a choice of endcaps,, magnetic or USB C charging, which would be the most popular? I like that the Pro version gives one a choice. At least the Seeker 4 throw version did a nice USB C port. Makes the decision a bit tougher. Definitely not to the ones that have to be covered by a rubber plug. Since they put a USB C charging port on the non-pro version it would be nice it it offered the option to be used as a powerbank.
I don't mind USB-C as all my other lights use it, but I'd prefer if they can keep both options like the new Warrior X4 or the seeker 4 pro with holster (which I have ) or at least keep the magnetic tail cap and have USB-C
