So he talks about believing in God and praying and people think he comes across as crazy or shy/nervous. Seriously? It's just Prince being Prince. Simple as that. He seems very sincere to me.

+Maggi B ur so silly old lady, I go the their churches almost every Sunday, and I also study with them, of course they believe in the after world, in fact they are the only church who teach people about about the after world, if someone have faith in Jehovah and baptized, and if they may die they will be resurrected

+Morena G. thank you, you see there are a lot of people who need to understand that the jw are not bad as they seems to be to people, therefore I can bet those celebrities who sold their soul for fame these people goes after them, but when it comes to know Jehovah people hate and refuse him, im 17 and I grow in a home without any parents only my grand mother, I couldn't read not to mention spelling my name, and they taught me to read and write, they taught me so much I didn't know about life and I thank go for sending them to me, but therefore I'm not judging any other denominations its not right, but I'm saying that people should not judge them and hate because they never take the time out on a Sunday to listen their speech, whatever they say trust me it will happen because they follow what god says in the bible

Thanks, MTV for airing a bold individual sharing his Christian faith. So many people and institutions are against the Christian faith but will accept anything else. The Artist was for sure a very special person who did not let the system of this world sway him.
TJTAMPA2000 He wasn't a Christian he was a Jehovah's Witness. They deny Christ's divinity.
Fair but in the 1980s Prince held Christian beliefs. It wasn’t until the mid nineties really after his son’s passing, he and his wife’s miscarriage of another child, and subsequently their divorce that he became Jehovah Witness.

I work in mental health and he comes off a bit like people I have seen who have suffered some form of parental abuse. He looks like he's struggling to stay present, which makes him come off as shy. As if there's a war going on inside him - he WANTS to be part of the world, but he just can't quite do it. That's why so many of his songs are so deeply personal or heavy on storytelling. I wonder if his way of dressing was a defence mechanism protect himself from criticism because for obvious reasons, he couldn't handle it. We all have our shit to deal with. Prince was no different. Art often comes through struggle and pain.

I'm not a JW so I'm not necessarily on the same spiritual page theologically as Prince was, BUT I DO admire his boldness in declaring his belief in God in an industry where it's considered weird and "uncool" to do so. Since Prince was and still is a highly respected artist it makes it seem okay for him to be outspoken about his beliefs and that's inspiring for me because I also believe in God.

So many comments about his faith..yes he did proclaim his beliefs in many places. They may vary but I know I have always heard God's name and his belief in the afterlife in his music. So it's clear he believed in God. Anything else I trust God to sort out that's not our job to do. At the end of the day we are all creations of God, not apes or any big bang mess. We all will die just like most of us sleep every night. There's no arguing death. So whatever his belief I know God is just and the best to sort our hearts and affairs. Can we just respect a spirit has been called back. He's not even in the earth yet. As a Muslim we believe that this time before being buried is serious. He has much left ahead of him in this dimension of reality. Yes the body dies but the soul has to return. I respect him as creation of God and leave God to check his beliefs. Peace.

Many Prince fans and casual admirers think these questions were from a journalist. Not so, they were pre-determined, planned questions by Prince's management team and himself. I believe it was then manager Steve Fargnoli who asked the questions. Prince in another answer reveals his whole philosophy and approach to his music and then current projects, Parade and Under The Cherry Moon.
He did say he believed in God; he just didn't say which one. God, creator of Heaven and earth and everything in between, the one who gave His only Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins, the one who now sits at the right hand of our heavenly Father or the god of this world who has much power in this realm, including the power to give human beings what they want and making their dreams of fame and fortune come true if they worship him. I hope for Prince sake he didn't go that route. For What does it profit a man if he gains the WHOLE world but loses his soul

Who said that he really had AIDS to begin with. Supposedly, he caught the virus in the mid 90s, and his wife became pregnant twice during that time . Later on in the 2000s he got married again marriage lasted a while. So far, I don't hear anyone complaining. We will never know what or who really killed Prince. He is not here to speak for himself. There is a similarity between Michael Jackson and Prince's death. There was always a problem with Michael Jackson owning the Beetle's Catalog and Prince just brought his Catalog from Warner only two years ago and he just suddenly fell ill and died. The fact that it's taking so long to come out with the results shows that something is not right. Even if he really had AIDS, they have no right to disclosed his privacy to the public. This law doesn't apply to celebrities only.

I don't know why Prince always wants to make himself come across like he's weird in interviews. I have heard from people like Lenny Kravitz that Prince was a regular guy. He loved basketball, table tennis and practical jokes. However in interviews he deliberately adopts this weird persona. I wish he could just be himself in this interview instead of coming across as weird.

Exactly right. Not in 1985 during his Revolution days. He may have been monotheistic in his spiritual outlook with possible traces of his Seventh Day Adventist background from childhood but he was far more open and free-thinking. He was not what he was yet to become-highly judgemental, preachy, prudish over racy language, etc.
