    That is so dope that your Eagle turned purple where it hit a tree. That is something I would love in a disc if a company were able to replicate it. Love the new Barsby Eagles on forehand btw - such consitent fliers.

    The consistency of your throws is very satisfying. That’s something I’m working on.

    Great video as always Cole! I'm personally a Teebird guy, but the slight increase in stability of the Athena definitely looks sick.

    as you said, the Athena is actually a mislabeled 8402. when the mold is finalized and the disc disappoints in distance, manufacturers sometimes downgrade the speed category and at the same time up the glide by 1 (who would buy an 84 0 2 knowing it doesn't get more distance than a 7speed?). As for me, I ordered a Teebird today, metal flake champion. because I'm a lower arm speed, and I know the Teebird with a 17mm rim will do better for me than an 18mm. btw, a famous example of massaging the numbers is the River: calling it a 7 7 instead of an 8 5 is really helping their sales - those who don't know any better, are really impressed with that "7" glide and telling everyone about it

    • @patrickclark4456
      @patrickclark4456 Год назад

      River does feel like the glide is unique and hence the 7, but I agree with you. Never thought about it that way since it really does carry more. You also don't need much arm speed for the river to fly proper for me

    I have a lot of Innova and Champion, if it's somewhat filmy (not crystal clear) they tend to be a bit more grippy. I have a Dart, MD (made by Innova for Discmania), and a couple others I can't recall offhand that are like that. The Teebird that I bag is in Champion, but it's the same type of plastic as that new yellow one you have, and it's decently grippy, but not quite as grippy as the slightly filmy ones.

    I throw teebirds and I agree, they are a little more understable at times, especially with with or a good snappy forehand. That’s why I was interested in the Athena, hopefully for it to hold the true numbers with wind or more snap. I really enjoyed your review because I think you hit the nail in the head at the end regarding star vs champion plastic and I agree, the new star plastic is flimsy. One comment about the camera angle… I liked it better when the angle was more from the right side vs staring on. Also, some channels use their editing software to zoom in on the flight after it releases the band, might give that a shot. Thanks for the great review!

      Thanks!! Love the feedback! Yea I haven’t tried that right angle before but that way did turn out pretty neat, I’ll definitely do that way some more. I’ll work on getting some more throws zoomed in when I edit them in future vids too!

    I sidearmed the tee bird the other day just bsin around and I almost aced a 214 foot hole with it. It was about 10 feet from the basket

    Currently doing research. I am a beginner with a DX tee bird. I let my friends use it as I am trying to get them into disc golf and they hit many trees. It's kinda beat and I feel its def turning a bit on me. I have a store near me that has champion tee birds and Star tee birds for decent prices. I almost bought the star today. I didn't because I felt my dx tee bird still has life. I also bought a discraft buzzz a few weeks ago, which I love for mid ranges so far! I kind of want to try an Athena though after your video. I still have a "slow" arm I feel. I have a destroyer which I am still working on throwing well but for some reason is still my best distance driver. I just got my Star wraith which I hope to make my main distance driver as a newbie. In your opinion should I go for a new tee bird and give it another shot? or go for an Athena? I love my buzzz so much haha.

    • @colebordis
      @colebordis  Год назад

      Hey David, yea a champion teebird for a slower arm speed is usually always more over stable new, compared to a star tee bird new.
      The Athena First Runs that came out after I filmed this are pretty nice I don’t find them to be to over stable at all. If that shop has the Athena’s and the star tee birds, feel both and see which one you prefer since they do feel a little different. Then make your decision off that since flight will be similar!

    Nice video but I just didn’t see a good reason to spend more money to change from the Teebird. But if you think the Athena is more over stable maybe they both deserve a place in the bag.

    It's called Gummy Champion or Star plastic. In some cases it's more durable and longer lasting than stiffer plastic.

    • @colebordis
      @colebordis  2 года назад

      Ahh I see! I think if they had a better way to distinguish between a gummier blend and stiffer blend, Instead of putting them all under the same plastic type it would better.

    The KJ Nybo tour series teebirds are some of the most ridiculously overstable fairway drivers ive ever thrown. Ive bagged one for like 4 or 5 seasons and it really hasnt changed in stability at all. My arm speed isnt what it used to be, but still
