No. I’d say she treats this relationship as Platonic Love instead of the carnival one. This drama is to depict how Ruyi as a historical protagonist expresses her attitudes towards love. She loved the emperor at first but soon realized that how transitory the love in the Forbidden Palace is and her relatively “modern” attitudes towards relationships and love are considered abnormal and unfitted in the age.
