Semyon Bychkov is certainly one of the most expressive conductors of today. He is meant to lead one of the great orchestras in the world.

Twenty years ago, in 2000, my wife and I were married in Wien/Vienna. We attended a performance of "Tristan und Isolde" at the Staatsoper - Bychkov was the conductor. Since then, "Tristan" has become "our song" - and Bychkov "our conductor."
the visual director for this is an absolute beast! I mean even the band with the title and author was introduced meticulously and with perfect timing

The "fugue" of 15:54 to 17:30 oh my god, how can you compose and orchestrate like that, I can't even believe how good this man is, it's like a punch in the face, extremely powerful, extremely complex but very beautiful, I can't think in a better composer of that time, despite there were a lot of geniuses, it's like it's the perfect balance between traditional and new, other composers of that era tend to be so extreme on the "new" question or extremely traditional, but this man, oh my god... perfect balance. There's no doubt for me that R. Strauss is the best orchestrator of all history, it's unbelievable good with the orchestra, I've heard a lot of orchestral composers of all eras and nothing like this.

Merci infiniment WDR pour cette mise en ligne. Quelle performance enthousiasmante, à la fois très vive et ordonnée, sans parler du chemin initiatique jusqu'à la conclusion. Du grand art. Bychkov est probablement le meilleur straussien en activité.
Cette oeuvre est particulièrement dangereuse : certains chefs ont tendance à en faire des tonnes, ce qui est "facile" avec un tel effectif. Mais Semyon non seulement est, comme vous le dites si bien, enthousiasman t, mais il adopte un tempo rapide, ce que j'apprécie énormément. Vive Bychkof !

die Alpensymphonie ist ein symphonisches Ur-Ereignis und wirkt im Hörer sofort, auch wenn der noch nie etwas von Nietzsche oder Antichrist gehört hat.Das Programm spielt überhaupt keine Rolle, wenn man sich die Freiheit nimmt, sich diesen Klängen zu überlassen. Es ist wie ein musikalisches Vollbad. Es braucht allerdings ein spielfreudiges
und technisch perfektes Orchester, sonst gibt es Frust. Aber hier ist alles großartig und frustfrei und dafür danke !

Viel zu schnell größtenteils..
Ist jetzt auch nicht meine Lieblingsinterpretation der Alpensinfonie, aber deswegen gibt es ja unterschiedliche Dirigenten 😃 das liegt im Ermessen eines jeden einzelnen, wie er es interpretiert.
Vielleicht kennen Sie nicht die Aufname von Richard Strauss persönlich dirigiert aus dem Jahr 1941, hier auf youtube und die ist noch schneller. Eine wunderbare Aufführung. Schnörkellos und unsentimental.
Der Gipfel ist aber sehr toll gelungen. Bei vielen fehlt mir nach der Klarinette der deutliche Bass. Hier klingt es sehr gut!
Richard Strauss selbst am Pult war nach 44 Minuten fertig… er hatte wohl keine Ahnung😊
