This cover is very beautiful, my friend. I've watched the youtube SY playing the acoustic version of Starpower. based on this version of the SY I heard I can say that you did very well in this cover. Starpower is a song that comes into my heart, even though it is deceptively simple. My best friend calls me Starpower, is so sweet...And besides Starpower is a song from the first album I've known / heard of SY (EVOL) :)
Awesome Bud! I wish it was more of a tutorial... but you played it freaking great.... the droning sound and impossibly tuned guitar chords... amazing job! 👍☠️
@artdecade1984 - Starpower? Really? Sweet :) And thanks again. It's a really nice track yeah. One of the best on EVOL in my opinion. Heck, all of the 80's albums are strong as hell. Can't choose a winner really. Maybe Sister but on another day it could be Bad Moon or EVOL.
Nice job, especially on the dissonant break down. What gauge of strings do you use? How do you tune the first string all the way up to a B without the string breaking?
I know. I've had the same concern. What I did was to just tune the low E-string down to a point where I felt comfortable and when I found that point then I decided that it should be my starting point on the F#F#F#F#BE tuning. With that, the D-string won't break and you are able to tune it higher from there just bit by bit. So, in the end you have the right tuning but in a lower key. But that doesn't matter when you just want to learn the song, right? :) Good luck!
@GuakiaKe - Hi, and thanks a lot. First, you should just keep on practicing and then you'll get very familiar with the tunings and the how-to's soon enough. Then second it wouldn't hurt if you get familiar with the different scales from fret 0 to 12 on the E, A, and D string. It's a good way to learn how do find the right notes, which way to tune, up or down and so on. And then, practice :) Good luck!
Hi Bill and thank you. The strings are way old so I don't remember the gauge actually. And I'm not using the same set always. Sometimes I just use the ones that are cheapest. The first string you are talking about is that the high E? If so, then it shouldn't be a problem.
Nice!!! I just tuned my guitar to play this song. It's so difficult to me to figure out these alternate tunings that sonic youth use in their guitars. Any special tip that would you recommend ?
Excellent rendition ,theres so much to feel here ❤
Thank you, Sir - much appreciated.
I have made a more detailed version with three guitars recently if interested :)
Im scared to tune the D string up 4 to hit F#.

It' ok. It's not the most difficult of them.
