Quite the metaphor about western so-called affluence. BTW, it's built on debt. Love your channel.🙏

Robert, just returned from Medjugorje after spending 7 months out there. Now my pilgrimage really begins. Your videos aspire me to begin evangelising and promoting Medjugorje. However, I fear Scotland is at a point of no return to its traditional Christian roots. It would take a disaster of biblical porportion to make Scotland see the errors of its ways. I suppose with God anything is possible 🙏

Agreed...I always looked at wealth as empowerment...it enables and reveals what's in the soul

Affluence is an issue across the global West, not just Ireland. We take so much for granted because of easy access to comfort and wealth.
Yet, a crisis of meaning abounds amongst our affluence as drug ODs, suicides, etc. increase.
There must be something more for us that is not material.

It’s the other way around. People will have money, but nothing to buy after the illumination of conscience.

Do as St Paul, who learned to be content in any situation, whether in plenty or in want...
Here in the US, we are seeing an increase in trash discarded along roadsides, too
In the 1970's the gov put out a crying native American advert that was quite effective
    Time to bring it back?

In Brooklyn, NY many folks here do not return empty soda bottles to obtain the deposit.
I was born pretty poor and although I don't collect empties for a living, I do bring back my own empty bottles.
I notice that many who have little education, particularly Asian immigrants, work full time collecting empties.

Years ago when I lived in NYC (in the hay days) we used to leave cans on our steps for the needy to collect. In Manhattan most places would not take back your cans like they were supposed to. It became not worth it to go grocery shopping with your recycles, you ended up needing to bring back home, along with your groceries. I barely purchased sodas or waters anyway. It was custom back then to leave your cans on residential steps or put them in a public trash bin for the needy to collect.

I'm lucky I don't need a passport to get into Manhattan. It was always too expensive for me.
      Now it's insane.

I pick up beer bottles thrown away at there's only 8 cents deposit on them here in Germany. If i leave them they get kicked to pieces. They should increase the deposit.

    True.
But it is hard to ignore that the bottle return is still a climate scam tax.
Very frustrating, but turning a scam into a good cause is maybe the best way to look at it.
