    Man it’s the heavy sighs for me…😂. I just made a video talking on the surface about this issue. I told my folks this subject goes deeper. I’m surprised with all of the national outrage about Coach Prime leaving, how this video doesn’t have over 50K views at the time of my comment. Great work coach. I’m glad you took a sip of your drink, cause yeah you almost let one slip. Hahahahaha it’s frustrating i know. But bringing attention to this and we keep speaking is helping to move the conversation in the right direction. Our lil voices are going to become bigger and bigger. Keep up the great work.

I don’t know how yet but in the background I’m trying to find ways to start helping. Start trying to find solutions. You’re a coach so I’m sure you’re on the front lines and doing a lot. So if there’s anyway I can help. We can team up, to do something, I don’t know what but something to draw more attention and find solutions. That’s what I’m about. So let me know please. I want HBCU'S to have thriving athletic programs, but the institutions would not exist without the academics. Who will attend the school if it loses accreditation, NO ONE! Monies have to be diverted from athletics to ensure the preponderance of student enrollment has the bare minimum. I would like our institutions to be viewed as a beacon of academic prowess first and athletic second. These schools were not founded to produce young adults to chase a ball around a field or throw one through a hole.

    • @Lorenzo-wc6iv
      @Lorenzo-wc6iv Год назад +2

      You miss the point. Academics are important but athletics is the front porch of your school. You invest in athletics and they do well that's free publicity for your school and academics.On national televised sports games there is usually a commercial highlighting the academic programs of each school also look how much revenue athletics bring in that the academic benefit from since the athletic department don't see a lot of that money it goes into general fund(which I disagree with). You focus is right acredidation is important but you are missing the bigger picture which is usually the problem

    • @BLKnPrd67
      @BLKnPrd67 Год назад +2

      @Lorenzo No, I did not miss the point. The Ivy League schools do not offer athletic scholarships and do very well. We know about Tuskegee, Spelman and Howard, not because of athletics but academics.

    • @Lorenzo-wc6iv
      @Lorenzo-wc6iv Год назад +3

      @@BLKnPrd67Again your focus is incomplete. Look at the endowments of the Ivey schools and the schools you mentioned. Harvard, Yale and Princeton have a combined $130 BILLION in endowments so who needs athletics as of 2020 even Howard had over $800 million. So these schools can focus more on academics. If Jackson state played two games a year against P5 schools @ $2 million/year in three years that 10% of Jackson total endowment of $60 million. **You are stuck on trying to prove a point without looking at the big picture in CONTEXT

    You can have criticism of HSBC's Athletics all you want, but if our community is not going to games and not donating or sponsoring our HBCU universities, then why do we have so much big expectations. The PWI schools communities and Alumni support their schools. When we start putting 70,000 fans in the stands every game, then I'm sure budget will get better. State funding schools don't give money to athletics from state funds .They have to make their budgets from tickets and student fees. We need to more research less criticism.
    Power 5 teams with 40,000 and 50,000 students, get a lot of student fee to run their programs. Plus all the TV contracts.

    • @coachsimmons

      Not true. Pvamu gets more state money than any other fcs school in Texas. The problem is we don't monetize or create or own products. I get looking deep into to breakdown of spending on the athletic programs and I totally understand the breakdown between conferences and pwis.
    To me it all goes back to we are trying to do the most with the least and expect power 5 type product on a damn near Div 2 budget.
    Our overall revenues can't compare to other institutions nor can our game revenues. Yes we have the highest attendance in the fcs level but damn look at all that must be done with those revenues. Heck we out draw northwestern university in attendance but they have other streams to work with (and you may as well say that they don't have scholarships because the athlete has to be able to get admitted to the university on the same level as a regular student. They openly tell you that they dont relax the admission standards for athletes).
    Yes we have to come up with other revenue streams but it takes a vision, plan and a charismatic person to bring all on board to help realize the vision.
    I would like to see a compare and contrast between our budgets and all of the other fcs schools that routinely make it into the playoffs and post season play.
