I'm 57 years young and I work as a custodian at a nursing home only making nine dollars an hour and get paid every two weeks I hate it!! But I love sewing and haven't done it in years but it's what I love ❤ so I'm pretty sure I still can I just got my sewing machine and table and I got too set up as soon as possible and start my own business with making clothes for kids I just gotta stop and step out on faith!!!

I stop applying for a job a long time ago and during the pandemic I had the time to focus and spend all my efforts putting things in order. I’m a Special Education Teacher and I create a Safety Education program for individuals with disabilities. This program will be conducted online as well as face to face. We launch in a few weeks.

I appreciate this video. I’m a nurse and felt inadequate when my counter parts picked up extra shifts and travel assignments and told me how much extra money they were making. I work only 3 days a week and spend my days off working on myself ( gym, meal prep, reading, online courses, hobbies, etc. )
You are not inadequate. You can use your nursing experience and start a You Tube fitness and wellness vlog.
Don't look at those who are chasing the dollar. They left their family for 6 weeks and more at a time. They are working long hours living in a hotel and zooming their children before bed time. That's no way to raise children. May I mention they are also at risk for Covid and the toll it takes on their health is not worth it. I know because I see the generation before me chase the money in travel nurse and it shows now on them. Many are in poor health, arthritis from lifting pts, diabetes from eating junk food. You seems to have a balance life . Just learn about investments and invest your money. Many travel nurses retired without an income outside of social security. RN here with 30 yrs experience. Invest your money. You will be ahead of them.
Wow, as a new grad nurse I felt that. I want nothing to do with bedside nursing. I think a clinic setting would be best suited for me. I have hobbies and interest outside of work and chasing the money is not it for me.

@@kokoalaska9888 i will also add that they are not enjoying the places they are visiting because the hours are long and they sleep on their days off. If you live in a state where salary is high travel nursing is not worth it. Those states are NY, NJ. MA. CT and CA.
Learn about dividend stocks and create a diversified portfolio. Invest a portion of your pay weekly. Open a Roth IRA or Roth 401k if your facility offers one. Look at fees before you put in your money. Look on line for information on stock etc. Start now by the time you are in your 60s you'll be okay.

I am a 60 years old black guy and I am among you girls. Some days ago I discovered Stephanie's RUclips Chanel and I felt in love with it. I had lost my business oneyear before the pandemic and I was trying to set up another one after it. The pandemic ruined my expectations and I had to look for a job being 58 years old. Thank God, I got a decent job and now I am restarting a new business little by little because I do not have access to banking credits anymore. I hope to settle my new chemical free vegetables farm by Poas Volcano in Alajuela, Costa Rica the coming weeks. Hi Stephanie, You are so correct in so many of the points you made. I started my mental health clinic in 2017. I stepped out on faith and hard work and I have never been happier. I now have seven employees and since COVID, I took my business online and I now only work three days per week from 9-2. So, next month, November, I am flying back to Italy to find and buy a home. I have also signed up for your RUclips challenge.

Look into the "digital nomad" lifestyle. It involves working jobs that only/mostly require Internet access and a computer. Also look into freelance work that can be done primarily online. Good luck!
Well said sister! I spent my whole life in corporate America. I only met 6 other Black men in my field in 40 years. I did extremely well, but I had a high demand skill set. My next job will be a business!
I went to college to make a six-figure salary. No one told me that age would deter my climbing the corporate ladder. It would have been better to join the military, retire and see the world through writing, travel and books at a younger age. Marriage was not fruitful for me. I would tell my younger self to travel and cease looking for a husband. It was not worth it. My next job is a business in helping women build their self-esteem and own their own business and property; plan ahead and travel.

Whatever you're doing extra for free for your boss, you can be doing that for other clients where you will be getting paid what's your worth!!
No no slavery over long time. If you work for free you will not be valued.
The time you are giving for free could be spent acquiring extra income somewhere else.
This was awesome & divine! We have an Errand & delivery service. It's been slow lately. I started doing Wal-Mart deliveries for supplemental income. My account was deactivated for no explanation, and my metrics were almost perfect. This was easy work.
Anyway, I prayed, and asked God what I needed to do. I came to RUclips for something else, and here you are! Geeesh! God is so real!!

Just a suggestion for the writing: don't forget the option of dictating your work (whether with voice-to-text software, apps, or transcription service). Keep your mind open to thinking outside the box and I'm sure plenty of ideas/solutions for building your business while dealing with chronic illness will reveal themselves. I planned to stay at my job until the end of the year and save a lot more. But CHILEEEE this video was reassurance I needed considering everything that’s going on with covid19. Life is too short.

I think it’s for each person to decide if they want to run a business. I was running my business for over 15 years. A retail company offered me $90,000 to work from home and I took the contract. Along with running my business and doing real estate photography. It honestly helped me slow down and gave me a much needed break from it all. If someone with a entrepreneur spirit wants to work with you that’s a plus. Running a business is not for the weak. Lol

I just found this channel and I love it. I am a white woman who lost her job during the pandemic. And I can't wear a mask nor want to be vaxed. I have always had a small business going on here and there, but never had the time to put much into it. Now I have the time, just need to be able to connect with others. The government position he was placed in wasn't even advertised. Needless to say, I resigned last Friday. Ready to build my business!

Just find out what's your passion and do it one day at a time
When it gets discouraging, remember what examples you are showing your daughters on persevering for your dreams and dealing with adversity. How your confidence and value isn't determined by others, to be taken away on another's whims. The suggestions for a coach is great. Good luck!

Quick side story: I was exiting a Costco and one of the salesmen asked if I was interested in solar power for my house. I replied that it’s not of interest to me because I don’t have a physical house and he immediately frowned and said “aww I’m sorry, don’t worry you’ll get there!” and I just laughed at that bold assumption! And the conditioning around what we should want and how we should live in American society. Anything outside of the traditional system does not get much respect or regard. In my videos I talk about how scary it is for people to accept the unknown. I do believe we are all doing this internal shifting work at varying levels for sure.

Thanks for making this video. Some excellent advice here. Can we talk about health insurance? I feel like self-employed RUclipsrs never talk about what they are doing for health insurance. I'm pretty sure health insurance is why many folks hang onto jobs, especially if they have health challenges, or children with health challenges.
Think of it as transitory. At a certain point when you make a certain level of income you can pay for health insurance out of pocket. Realistically benefits are valued from $2,000-$5000 so take a look at your base and add that so that’s what you need to make at least 2 months straight for you to quit and expand. You got this

Cobra through your employer or Obamacare. It's cheaper than Cobra.
That's one of the main reasons I was advised to "keep my day job" and do my business on the side. Because I needed health insurance, pension when I retire, etc.
This is so true. I am working full time and have a special needs son, so the businesses I have on the side, which are viable, I have not been able to focus on! I want to be profitable, but to get to the money, I need to be more focused.

I started an online boutique that I want to eventually open a physical boutique soon I stopped pushing my business when I got pregnant and became a little discouraged and have kind of a abandoned my business but my husband has been motivating me to keep going start back and don’t give up so once we move I’m gonna start it again and keep pushing at it! Stephanie, this message is so powerful. One reason I pulled back from my business is because I became very stressed out while trying to grow my business and work my full-time job last year. There were other factors that came into play as well. But now that I have a handle on my new full-time position (teaching), I think I'm ready to get back into the swing of things. I was truly overwhelmed, but I stepped back a bit to reevaluate my boundaries within my business and life in general!

I was "led" here after deciding I want to pursue entrepreneurship, yet going thru so many emotions including confusion, self-doubt & analysis-paralysis. It's mentally exhausting trying to figure out ALL the steps on my own. I'm definitely getting a coach.
I know my businesses can make money, they're just not making money right now and i have bills. That's why i want to get a job again.

I stumbled on this video and It blessed my soul. I just took another position and I honestly asked myself, "Why the hell am I doing this to myself? You are running back to the same pattern and position you really are good at, but honestly aren't feeling fulfilled in and really can't stand!" LOL I am going to look for a coach this week. The statement pertaining to "only certain occupations are valued" is ringing so true with me. I know someone who has a small house cleaning service for busy professionals and seniors, who are not ambulatory. She's killing it!!
I always say, don’t wait for permission! That is how I was able to get out of my head and take the leap to get started. My business consults travel & lifestyle content creators that wants to grow their business.
I think some should also consider investing in already existing businesses if starting one isn’t the right thing for you.

Thanks for this video. I guess I'll take this as a sign. I kind of regret giving in and recently filling out a job app and starting a new job. I do want to take the next step. Maybe one day I'll find my next big opportunity where I won't have to really work for someone else. I was thinking the other day that I hope I never have to use a resume again. I'm working on it. I need to learn to take risks and leaps of faith. I need something different than what I've been doing because this isn't working. I don't like who I become when I work for other people!
I hate working in corporate America and started working on my business this summer. I took on another job after getting a severance from my previous employer and started focusing on that instead of my business. I give myself permission to work on my Virtual Assistance business. My affirmation this week has been “I am strong enough to follow through.” I’m scared (for whatever reason) but I’m tired and beyond ready. Also, I have a cousin who is a business consultant and I just signed up for his assistance while listening to this. If I want out, I’m going to get out!
