- Kinetic object with 32 independently moving lines. Controlled by an integrated computersystem. The video shows some of the constantly changing ordered and random structures that appear and disappear. Dimensions: 4.12m. X 2.49m. X 0.23m. 2007 - 2010.
Really beautiful. every time I feel that I "see", the structure changes and my optic ability changes with it. Could not stop watching this. Great piece of art.
It has 8 fixed points lined up in 2 rows x 4 columns. Each points has 4 equal length black sticks attached to them and each stick has independent movement. (Something like our wrist watch). Probably driven by servo motors and the movements are software programmable. Truly minimalist, simplicity and innovative at its best.
Can you explain to me what makes this dynamic?
Do you know how to reacreate it but unprogrammable? I want to reacreate it but engine driven..
And the size of it is the cherry on the cake.
This is the kind of "post-modern" art I like. Not that bullshit where they put random droplets of paint onto the canvas and call it a masterpiece.
Wonderful bit of engineering and programming. Just a beautiful piece of artwork.
Love the simplicity of its emerging complexity!
Watch carefully. It is actually like a set of eight four-handed clock dials. The centers are in two horizontal rows of 4. Because the "hands" are of equal length, and the length approximately equal to the spacing of the centers, the sculpture can create the illusion of up to 5 lines coalescing into one. The "hands" are mounted on co-axial tubes, just like in a clock. The lighting and photography help to hide the mountings. Everything else is programming for the drive motors - all 32 of them.
A most relaxing piece of moving art!
imagine a wallpaper out of this. amazing
CLARA
A beautiful and highly creative interpretation on self organisation. Beautiful work, thankyou.
I'd be interested to see the mechanics of moving all the pieces independently
Amazing I can't stop looking at it.
thanks for sharing
The sculpture has something meditative in itself.
32 small stepper motors, timing belts and relative gears ! Every 4 lines are connected via coaxial shafts. I'll be interested more in the software instead !
What a beautiful and simple machine. Fascinating really
Just looking at it seems there are 8 points, which each have 4 "hands" the same way a clock has 2 "hands" (3 with the seconds). 32 stepper motors controlling it. Simple in priciple, but idea is fantastic! and it needs doing accuratly to look good.
4:16 I figured it out, there's 8 points on the board, each with 4 hands that freely rotate around them.
perfection of art.
Absolutely amazing!
How does it move? Is there any videos or websites out there explaining?
FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!! Hypnotic.....
Вроде бы просто линии, а ведь завораживает!
I wonder if he sells them? I would love to get one for my husband. Incredibly relaxing ❤️
4:03 gives the mechanics away (I think). Looks like 8 sets of 'clock' hands type mechanism (concentric axles), except all the hands are equal length and each are individually moveable. Very cool!
At first I thought you were wrong and slightly crazy, so I looked more carefully and you are right. Also if you move your cursor along the timeline you can see more clearly there are 8 points that are fixed. At a number of points in the video you can definitely see 4 arms per clockface. actually simple concept, the distance between each is important
Can anyone explain the mechanics on 3:28 ?? I want to know how you get the "hands" to open and close evenly.. (school project)
Incredibly good!
Much better than a ball of string plonked in the middle of the gallery
Amazing constrution!!!!!
I could watch this my entire life....
This whole art installation is waiting for the DVD logo to hit the corner...
Great work!
at first amazed me as if camera thing as it zoomed out...
but real masterpiece.
how do u guys do it.
would mind spreading fundamentals of this science
.
HOW IS IT DONE IT MUST BE A REVOLVING STRUCTURE BUT WHAT IS THE STRUCTURE LIKE, UNMOVING
How I realize an installation as this? Is there an Arduino with Step motors?
Tem videos aulas pra ensinar a fazer essas artes?
can u please tell me the mechanism behind this
How is it work ?
Try setting speed to x2.
I might sound stupid, but how the hell can you do that?
Were it can be seen?
Great rendering.
Just GREAT!
Just perfect.
Wonderful. But you could tell us how you do it.
What is does to you is important, not how I do it.
there are no non moving axes... so no that does not help make sense of it
Sooo?...what is it that makes this dynamic, can anyone explain it to me in a simple way?
www.thefreedictionary.com/dynamic See 1.a)
Thanks but I figured it out awhile back
.... i want this. i want it in a pictureframe size to put on my best, and i want it fullsize to put on my wall. it's amazing what you can do with so little.
very good job
Image a ceiling made out of this...
Wow. So nice¡ I want one of those¡¡¡
Это просто невероятно!!!
Incredible. How is this magic done? The only way I can think of is a hd beamer. :D
if you focus on the "joints", the non moving axes... then you can stat making sense of it =)
Wow, very neat.
willem! nice work friend.
but they only remain non moving axes for a shot while then it all changes...
Это графика?
wish i could buy a copy to have it as art in my house.
Next level!
its great but the video should be sped up. i had more fun watching the thumbnail previews as i moved the cursor along the play bar
feelin' high watching those videos .... -◡-
micro controller and servo's probably
04:03 - there they are ^^
can i learn it......
-- Shanti stuff. Like it. --
Watching this with xU23LqQ6LY4 playing along in the background = amazing
Yes, perfect!
What music is this?
Anyone reckon i could build that in my home?
Very Nice
amazing.
love it !!
mind. blown.
who made it?
nou wat denk je... willem van weeghel misschien?
your mom
+provehitocobalt HAH GOTTEM!
hi
I love that.
Now this is cool :)
slide ur mouse/pointer along the grey buffer bar ;)
very goodddd
buenisimo!
Sure there is.. theres 8, and theyre pretty eaesy to see
I've got a couple of those
looks like something from xevious.
my head is starting to hurt
Im sorry to say but I really believe this is computer generated.
+Kasey Chrisman It's computer controlled, but the 32 clock arms are real.
And you would be completely wrong about that.
wish to have that at home
Hang your large screen TV on a wall and play this video in a loop.
oh. I think i see how you did it
Bad ass!

Bacana!
I think you just broke physics...
