Great video! I’m currently nursing a Madame Jeanette plant to maturity to get some fresh seeds to try some crossing experiments. I picked the original pepper myself while in Suriname so it’s a bit of a legacy/project thing!
This is the first time I saw a good video on plant breeding. Sir it would be better if you explain the traits of parental (mxf) plants and what traits you are intended to combine in the offspring.
Great video!! This summer, I did all my crosses outside and I had about 50% success rate. I hated when your taking the last antler from the flower and you knock the stigma off. arrggh!!
This year I'm trying to cross Cayenne x Giant Habanero White and the one I'm the most excited about is Bell Pepper x Red Savina. Hopefully the they will bloom at the same time so I am able to collect pollen and cross breed them.
I'm just curious if you have an update on the Bell-Savina? If it produced a giant pod with thick walls and Savina like heat and flavor, that would be a dream come true for hot sauce makers!
I would really like to know how it went as well. Suffice it to say, this year I am going to be making a boatload of crosses myself. Perhaps even recreating the wheel i.e. this cross being shown in the videol
Good video! The F0 as you call it is also called the parent plant or parental generation among many botanists or even simpler... the P generation. The f1 seed as you mentioned is found within the parental generations fruit you pollinated with your pollen donor. I've made a few crosses with both Jalapeno and Poblano genetics myself. A quick google search for Greg Mendel and the words parental generation and filial generation should bring up a lot of that information. Great video by the way and thanks for sharing!
@@chillibrotherspimentas denoting the generation or generations after the parental generation. Filial1 would be the first generation after the Parental cross P1 x P2 equals f1, f1 x f1 equals f2 and so on.
Really good. Thank you. I believe I just crossed a Pinguita De Mono X Farmer's Market Jalapeño. I'm pretty excited. I hope to have multiple crooses by the end of the summer.
Gonna try the reaper cross and a jalapeno, if my reaper will hurry up and bloom . I may have to do a Cheyenne jalapeno instead, thanks for the detailed video !
I´m trying to cross a Hamik F1(thats a sweet pepper like a snack-pepper) with a cayenne The goal is to make a sweeter cayenne thats also a little smaller and to create a hot snack-pepper(the hamik)
Does it matter which way your cross your plants, or does it make a difference which is the "papa" plant? In other words, will WxY make a different variety than YxW, and if so, why? By this, let's say I want to cross a giant sweet bell with a small hot. Will one way give a larger hot pepper, and the other make a smaller, sweeter hot?
In theory they should be the same but if they are different species like chinensis vs annum they can be a little different because the genes don't pair up quite right, but that is a bit suspect of an explanation. Some plants may still have some heterozygous genes left as well. Two of the same species will generally not matter which way you go except the part where the fruit has to grow on one plant and that plant might be way more likely to drop the fruit. In my pairing of two different annum cultivars, one parent has dropped the cross every time and the other one has 7 of them set and about to start ripening.
I don’t have a RUclips video but I use rooting solution and water - following the instructions on the bottle and that works well if the cutting has leaves and it is in a sunny spot
I'm pretty sure that this is the best cross-pollination video on RUclips.
Thanks very much 🙏

Very nice how to video! This winter I’ll will finally cross some peppers indoors . Gonna save this video for reference
Thanks much Rob! I can't wait to see what gnarly creations you come up with!

I wish you kept uploading, I loved your content
Thanks buddy- one of these days I hope to be back!
One of the most in-depth tutorial on how to breed properly..! Thanks a lot for the knowledge! ❤️🏆😇
Thanks I appreciate it!
Great to see that you're back. I learned a lot!

P means Parental and F means what?

Farmer George, most excellent name. Cool video too 👍👍

Thanks .I'm gonna try it.God bless.

Do you know if root system have gotten improved by breeding or if some plants are more drought resistant?
I'm planning on crossing Sweet Banana with Jimmy Nardello and Jimmy Nardello with Thai
Thank you so much I'm looking forward to giving this a try. Keep us updated I'd like to know how it tastes
For sure! Good luck - what do you want to try and make?
@@FarmerGeorge I was thinking about trying to mix a couple of different peppers with a coolapeno maybe even a hot pepper or two to see what happens
Niiiice keep me posted!

I love that idea. Sounds very appetizing
Thank you!
Thanks for watching! What are you going to cross?
Do you think it's possible to crossbreed a pepper in order to make it hardy to zone 4A?
Imagine if you had to work for a seed company doing cross pollination. Do you think you would succeed ?
You’d be a millionaire if you applied the same focus to cannabis.
Haha appreciate the thought!
Upload more dude!
I will be uploading a new pepper catalog video as soon as we get Internet! We are in the middle of a move. Thanks for watching!!!
I really wanna crossbreed a scorpion chilli with a ghost pepper, then breed the result with a Carolina reaper to make the Devils Nutsack lol

Would crossing a chilli and a tomato work at all? Or would i be wasting my life even more so then my current state
I wouldn’t try it...

Why have you stopped uploading?
That’s a great question! Life is getting in the way of my RUclips career at the moment…
What happened to the chart of peppers that are compatible with eachother that was mentioned?
Josh L it’s the first link in the description. Let me know if you can’t find it.
Favorite pepper??? Mine is thai chili pepper 🌶
Mine is an orange habanero 🥳

Wouldn't that be f1, f2 show the traits from multiple generations
Great video, how is your journey to make the worlds hottest jalapeño?
I'm gonna grow the hottest pepper in the world!
Do it! Good luck
