Linda Evans is such a beautiful blue eyed blonde gal, and nice to watch her in this video She lip syncs it well. Women looked so elegant and feminine back then in dresses, instead of wearing unflattering men's pants and speak with vulgar extreme swearing like many do today. Both Garner & Fain were plucked off Malibu beach by Director William Asher to do surfing stunts and provide atmosphere for Beach Party (1963) the very first of the Frankie & Annette flicks. As the beach movies became wildly popular, a core group of surfers and bikini-clad starlets emerged as audience favorites. American-International signed them to contracts and began promoting them as the 'beach party gang'. Ed Garner and Johnny Fain were part of the gang, along with Salli Sachse, Patti Chandler, Mary Hughes, Linda Opie and Michael Nader (who would one day star in Dynasty). Fact check. Linda Evan's aka Miss Sugar Cain is not the one singing on this track. Nor is it Donna Loren although she did sing it on her album release of the movie. The Real singer behind this track is Robin Ward who at the time did a lot of uncredited session work in the industry. She did have a few minor singles and a import cd compilation but New Love remains either lost or unreleased to this day.

Robin Ward (Jackie Ward) is the voice. She was a one hit wonder, as they say. Donna Loren recorded the song and I think Annette did it in a different movie. Music and movies, how very like "That Thing You Do!"
Robin Ward was the female voice in the Partridge Family. Her voice is on many hit records.
Jackie Ward also dubbed for Natalie Wood in two movies...odd but this does not sound like her.

Really like the song. Too bad this MOVIE version isn't available on CD. You could rip it from a dvd but unfortunately it has Frankie and Annette talking in the middle. :-(

@@davidleigh443 It might also be a reference to the fact that Donna Loren recorded the soundtrack album for Beach Blanket Bingo (instead of just releasing the songs from the film, it was common practice to have one of the cast members record the soundtrack album. So Donna Loren recorded the songs from Beach Blanket Bingo, Annette Funicello recorded the songs from Bikini Beach, etc.). So the only commercially available version is Donna Loren's cover

Fact check. Linda Evan's aka Miss Sugar Cain is not the one singing on this track. Nor is it Donna Loren although she did sing it on her album release of the movie. The Real singer behind this track is Robin Ward who at the time did a lot of uncredited session work in the industry. She did have a few minor singles and a import cd compilation but New Love remains either lost or unreleased to this day.
