- In 1901 an opulent hotel was built along the banks of the New River, across that river from the coal town of Thurmond. This hotel went on to host political conventions and provide the liquor, gambling and women banned by Thurmond.
Today we tell the story of the Dunglen Hotel, part of the history of Appalachia.
