@Gohan Lopez the legal versions don't get played in tournaments anyways. There's hardly going to be many cards at all in this set that will be, it's for collectors.
i started playing magic around the time you speak of and latley wizards and been making konami look good with some of the prices and decisions they are making. i love both games tho

No you don't. You just don't collect yugioh cards like some of us did. This collection has already been released 10+ years ago and they are just reusing the same cards as promos. Only the quarter century rare is a new thing.
The worst part to me personally is that they reprinted the old cards in the booster packs using the modern border and holo foil art style. They also used the ugliest and most reprinted art of dark magician and blue eyes of all time. This is criminal for a "collection" like this. Almost nothing about this screams retro and collector to me
FYI; the pull rates are HORRIBLE for these old packs. And they really kept it true to it. Almost nobody is pulling holo foil cards. Holo foil cards are the best ones.
This would be a GREAT gift for someone who grew up with Yugioh back in the day and hasn't followed the game these past few decades

Was really looking forward to these as I'm an absolute sucker for the old Duelist Kingdom/Battle City era of cards. I really wish they'd have reprinted the original Starter Deck holos for the standard promos, and make the 25th Anniversary Rares have alt arts to feel a little more special. Your pulls were motivation enough for buying one or two for nostalgia though!
i think making reprints of the og starter decks period would have been incredible, an amazing fit for a legendary decks type box but with 100% faithfulness to the original tcg products
And I wish they updated all the card texts too

I was thinking about purchasing this product because I collect Blue eyes, Red Eyes, Dark Magician and God cards but I seeing the low value of the quarter century cards I decided to buy all 6 cards separately. Cost me less than $60 instead of buying 6 or more mini boxes for $32 each.
Wish more people had your sensible mindset.
I have never bought a booster pack before. And the chance of getting 1-2 good cards for the cost of the pack scares me like most boosters. I need to look up the QCR costs. Could just get a Blue Eyes and Obelisk and might be more satisfied than pulling regular rare cards that I or anyone would never use in a duel.
As kids. We made a type of mana system to make lower level monsters useful. Basically, instead of tribute summoning, you got 4 star points per turn. So you could summon 2 level 2 monsters in one turn, or 4 level 1. Or save your points and summon a level 8 the following turn.
You guys got way lucky. I’ve opened 4 of these boxes and have legit only pulled one ultra rare insect princess. That’s it. Three 25th anniversary slifer and and obelisk. You hit the jack pot in one lil box
I'm typically a nostalgia head but 32 for 1 qtr rare and a bunch of old cards doesn't seem super worth to me. It didn't come with card sleeve, mat, rule book, binder, just 6 packs and 7 cards
tbf it is considering if you wanted these packs they are liek 20 bucks for one pack rn

i also thought this set was over priced, i was thinking it was going to be 20 or 25 a box retail and was surprised when i got to the register and still bought a full display case. I wont buy anymore of this product just because of the price and will buy the last few cards i want as singles of this set

In France we have a TON of missprint.
The secret rare miss the name of the attribute.
Some of the attributes of the secret rare are in german
The box have a missprint: Râ is in english while the 2 other gods are in French.

I'm in the UK and had the same with many of my 25th foils. The cards were English apart from the Attributes 😅 I found it hilarious so put them in my binder 😂😂

Vampire Baby used to be called Red Moon Baby in the TCG. You might be thinking of Vampiric Koala or Vampiric Orchis, which were originally given the name "Vampire" in the TCG but were later changed.

I'd wait for prices to settle, and then just BUY a Quarter Secret.
I think the goal of this is to target people who grew up with the first anime and haven't touched it all that much over the years. This box is what set me on a path to coming back to Yu-Gi-Oh! lol after like 15 years or so. I always wanted to have these illegal god cards even though I didn't play much, I just think that they're cool so this box was Perfect for me. Was really hyped and am happy to now have them :)
My century rare is Obelisk. Would've preferred Ra, but ultimately happy with any one of them
In the period of a couple of months when I preordered a 25th anniversary box I went from a person who only played back in the first anime + GX days to:
- Having binged a Lot of Team APS (and I mean tens of hours a lot lol. Going through "Larry in the Hole" now. Rare Hunters was Epic)
- Learning what sleeves are with Dragon Shield being a pretty good brand apparently
- Learning XYZ, Syncro, Pendulum, Link mechanics
- Played Many hours of Legacy of the Duelist Link Evolution on my switch (made this pretty simple yet surprisingly effective Skull Servant deck lol)
- Starting to play Master Duel (for fun, not competition :P), made a Ra deck with its new support which I think is really cool (Mega Ultra Chicken!) Thinking of hunting down the physical cards for this deck when I'm done tweaking with it
- Hunting down the 3 tablet tins to make my tablet as a nice piece in a dedicated corner of my home which would also house my cards
(fun fact, the pack which comes from the 2022 tin was the very first Yu-Gi-Oh! pack I have ever opened. In my childhood we only played with printed paper cards stuck to some cardboard as not only have we never seen a Yu-Gi-Oh! pack they were probably only available in dedicated toy stores but even then should've been pretty rare. Not that we could afford much of them anyway, that broke back then lol)
- Ordering Slifer and Obelisk structure decks
- Nagging my cousin to at least play some GOAT matches with me :D

Just lucky 😂 I opened two this morning and got Buster Blader and Skull Archfiend then one Super Rare. The pull rates are just what they use to be……which I guess makes it more nostalgic
I would be get it if the original artwork for red eyes, blue eyes and dark magicianwere included instead.

Love that you got the Italian attribute on the 25th anniversary red eyes. I got that on my Slifer and Red Eyes. Is a common misprint. Know a couple people who got english ones but is a fun one.
This was actually the first set that my local card shop didn't mark up above MSRP. But, they're not selling the displays as a whole, you have to just buy five at $31.99 a pop.

I don’t get the point of this set, to be honest. It’s just a rehash of what we got in the Legendary Collection set back in 2010, but with the 25th Anniversary logo on it.

i bought 2 boxes of this set and got the 25th Dark magician and obelisk but got only one super (dust tornado) and all regular rares out of all the packs I got. imo it'll be cheaper to buy the 25th edition rares than buy the sets.
PGD or MFC would've been the best choice over DCR.
Found out recently that in the past they have said these six sets are the six best selling sets of the era and I find that INCREDIBLY hard to believe considering how nothing DCR is while PGD has so much useful stuff and MFC has DMG.
And yeah, even something like LON has a lot of main arc anime cards. I can't imagine anyone is obsessing over the Guardian cards or the worst Dark Magician fusion that, while admittedly pretty cool looking, is probably the worst Fusion as a whole in the entire era. DCR is the most literal filler pack I think has ever existed in trading cards in the sense that it is basically just all the cards no one really cares about from filler arcs of the anime while things like Eatos, the Kuriboh Brothers, and the Dragon Knight Fusions didn't appear for ages and others like the battle suit cards still don't exist.
Also, that is the best Red-Eyes art. No idea why they ever print it in anything but that original JUMP promo art because it is the best one.
In terms of the collection, if they were going to update the design anyway, what they should've done is update the packs to modern standards again like they did with them when getting a Rare and holo was possible. In other words, eliminate Rares from the sets and guarantee Supers.
Specifically by increasing the rarity level of everything but Commons and Secrets to better match modern set layouts.
Rare > Super
Super > Ultra
Ultra > Secret (keeping the original 2 Secrets as well)
Then make all of the Secrets available as QCS Rares as well at a rate of 1+ guaranteed per collection box and 2+ guaranteed per box in the boxes later in the year. Would've been the ideal anniversary printing.

Went a picked up a box the other day and was really hoping to get the Quarter Century rare Blue Eyes or Dark Magician, hell even the god cards would have been alright but nope I got a Red Eyes... along with Flame Swordsman and Black Skull Dragon as holos when I Joey's my least favorite.

Magic/Spell Ruler did come after Metal Raiders. Spell cards weren't introduced until Spell Ruler and Metal Raiders had no Spell variant to Magic cards.
Metal Raiders was released 26th June, 2002
Magic Ruler was released 16th September, 2002
Now you guys should do a sealed duel challenge using two of the remaining boxes.
metal raiders came before magic ruler. MRD is the second set released in the TCG
Nostalgia aside, I wished they used the older card stock on this product. The newer cardstock feels cheap and thin compared to what you would get opening previous reprints of the retro sets -_-

I saw your video on the OCG 25th anniversary collection and ordered a quarter century secret downerd magician, so much more worth it to have the rarity on a card I like. Gotta say the tcg release is pitiful in comparison especially since we aren't even getting the original binder packaging.
Bought two and pulled Gate Guardian and Mirror Force so I'm pretty happy. haha. Mirror Force can go in my edison deck :P
My friends and I used to play with the illegal god cards using the anime rules lol. Had some epic duels.

@@Adamame93 Target and Walmart go through MJ Holdings. They have to make a profit so they have to charge more than they purchased it for.
Granted, they don't need to mark things up by sometimes something like 80% like they currently do but if you're buying them there they could never be MSRP unless Konami were to stop distro rights for MJ Holdings and work with the retail stores directly.
Which I'm not even sure if it's possible because they are literally the retail trading card god company for North America. Retail stores might very well be locked in a contract to only sell such things via MJ Holdings. All trading cards you see in such places currently are only there because of them so it wouldn't surprise me if they've got an exclusivity clause in the contract.
Pulled a Gaia the fierce knight, Axe of despair and Jinzo. Got red eyes too ( which is the one I wanted.) I was gonna buy another one but saw that I got really lucky ( like you guys) and decided to keep my money
I pulled a Tri Horned Dragon and Red-Eyes Black Dragon from LOB. Not Red-Eyes B. Dragon. Red-Eyes Black Dragon. I can’t tell if that’s a misprint or a new print for LOB. I would love for it to be a misprint.
Not a misprint - the cards that have received erratas were printed with the corrections - Red Eyes Black Dragon and Black Skull Dragon are how these will be printed

You should build decks out of the cards you pull whoever loses have to give the winner there rarest card and their can be 4 players in the tournament club I think the tournament club would be a challenge for the players and God bless you too and congrats on your pulls and peace out

I’ve been clamoring for Legacy of Darkness AND Labyrinth of Nightmare.
One time my friend asked me why he couldn’t negate Exodia. It took me 20 minutes trying to explain to him that the duel is over so you can’t respond to it and I still don’t think he gets it.
if they lowered the price from 32 bucks a pop, I think this would be a greater product considering 70% of the cards in those packs are either not used in current decks and the strong ones are banned lol

I got one of these purely for the Quarter Century promo and I too pulled Red Eyes but given that red and black are my favorite colors I’m not too upset about it 😋
But I will say the quality control on them is pretty bad. The card itself is beautiful but the one I pulled had some nasty print lines down the center and the attribute was in Italian. Hopefully they step it up for the next set
I recently got it for around $27 and I’m okay with the set. I too got the red eyes but I wanted Slifer as a star light rare
I’m so tired of them using this artwork for Dark Magician. Always feels like it’s the wrong one.
I recall Konami saying they’d hook you up with free merch so given that relationship you should ask them for stuff like this instead of shelling out for it. Just a thought.

I feel like the biggest issue with this product is that this doesn't feel like a legendary collection but instead just feels like another "OK" reprint set. Which is far from what it should be.

Regarding Mangu Ryu-Ryan, I believe the effect should state that it's always treated as a Toon Card.
I think I'll get one and maybe some extra Dark Crisis packs. For the rest I'll wait until the reprint is released.

I only watch yugioh content from afar, so could someone explain to me what's the point of the god cards with no effects? I know they have effects on the show, so do you just play them and mutually agree what the effects are? Why not just print them with their effects, I doubt it would break the game.
The God Cards have a bunch of effects, many of which you can't properly replicate in a real life card game and could require multiple cards worth of text on one card.
You can really argue more that printing them with their effects at all was the wrong thing to do since they not only shouldn't (for some semblance of balance) but couldn't print them properly.
Obviously they did eventually do so but it was years after this. This is the original printing from 2005 and therefore what they use for celebrations.
Really it feels like you’re just paying for the god cards, DM, BE & RE the packs feel like extra, if you manage to pull something cool then awesome! Or in general if you’re a fan of a certain card or set then I imagine it’s worth buying to somebody

If you mean the ones in July you are definitely not going to need that many. I generally buy 1 - 5 boxes and 5 for a standard set generally nets you all but a couple cards regardless of whether you're talking TCG or OCG.
6-8 is likely all you'd need unless you get incredibly unlucky.

I didn't even notice but you're right it says "FINSTERNIS" which is german for darkness, though it seems to be a rather common misprint. There are a lot of complaints about german or spanish misprints of the attributes on the 25th secret rares, I hope I won't get one too.

Well it is cool in a way for people who missed out on this. It's also kinda lame that it's just a carbon copy of an old product, just with one additional foil card.

Fun to watch and certainly will be fun to see you guys draft from. For me, the unplayable versions of the gods and the bad arts on the nostalgia ace trio really just left me uninterested in buying and pulling from this product though. Even adding some better chase cards with the quarter century rare would have made it more appealing
