    I am grateful for my curiosity and imagination. Every time I’ve gotten myself in a scrape (and there have been many of those!!) they’ve helped me climb my way back to a place a little wiser than where I was before.

    hey friend...I am grateful that I came to Canada learned ENGLISH therefore understood native people who told me a lot about creation and life and the seven teachings ..from that I created my own morning prayer which is as follows... Grandfather( god) Tunkashila I am thankful for the light of the day for the crisp air the water the food all plants and the animals and people around me...and please give me the respect (1)of the buffalo ..the courage (2)of the bear ..the love (3)of the eagle and the humility(4) of the wolf so I can gain the wisdom(5) of the beaver to speak honest (6) like sasquatch the truth(7) of the turtle....that gives me every day peace of mind and makes me think about my actions ...

    Weeeeellllll...... You DO have a way of keeping it live and real time, my friend! Something that has slowly been working its way towards my consciousness, is that I am 'grateful' for the efforts I've been making to increase my tolerance and respect for both other people and situations that were and sometimes still are uncomfortable and even irritating. But, with lots of introspection and work, I'm starting to see some positive changes in my real self that I can actually feel good about, and I'm glad and grateful I've been able to just keep on chipping away at whatever blocks were in my life-journey's way. Thank YOU for being such a helpful member of our growing lifeways community! Peace, John, Ana, and Little Forest!

      One of the toughest things we humans can do -- examine our own beliefs and judgments! You inspire us in that direction as well, as you always seem to be able to both have your own ideas and beliefs, but also to be open enough to question them or see that they may have more nuance than our judgement imagines. So glad to have you as part of our life adventure!

    I can take that challenge! Though I do often fall prey to my own self doubts and place too much emphasis on my identity=work, I am grateful that I am always looking for the magic. There's so much mystery and wonder in the world, little miracles occurring all the time, or just looking at the world through the lens of our ancestors. The world is alive and teeming with magic! Having the capacity to imagine it, acknowledge it, and appreciate it. Happy Gratefulness Day!

    I'm grateful for minimalist nature and sense of adventure. And for that reason I view money as a tool, not a goal. I believe this frees my mind a way that will help me achieve what I seek most, a sense of true freedom and ultimately to reconnect with nature as I believe people were always intended to do. This life is certainly one unique experience, and I would hate to waste any of it.

    Gratitude is like onions, they have layers and makes your eyes watery! Gratitude like much in life has layers and depths, the restaurant you spoke of is a very surface level gratitude. It´s right up there with saying "How do you do?" while you really don't care at all. Real gratitude reaches deeper, it´s a gut feeling.

    • @ReWildUniversity
      @ReWildUniversity  7 месяцев назад +1

      YES!!! So difficult to try to point to that feeling, but when we've felt it, we know. And as you say, it has layer upon layer of new discoveries waiting for us =)

    I am grateful I am kind. I was just told last night that it was a trait I have. It can backfire, but it’s better than being the opposite of kind.
    Be thankful you can pee! An early sign of what turned out to be MS in my sister was an inability to pee. We don’t usually think about it until we can't. Imagine feeling you need too...but your body isn’t cooperating.

    Thanks for the video! This reminded me of one of the stories in the book Grandfather by Tom Brown Jr. Have you read it or any of his other books? I feel like you must have. Anyway one of the stories in there talks about when Grandfather learned the difference between being alone vs being lonely. He learned to be alone without being lonely. It came down to him really loving himself and how amazing he saw himself and the capabilities of his body.

    Thanks for this video. I sometimes ask myself, am I permitted to be a bit selfish here? Feeling grateful about something about myself gives me similar thoughts, I'm much better at putting myself down. But I also tell myself, without some selfishness, we could not function as independent organisms.
    Sometimes I get a strong thought and feeling that it's just good to be alive. It's a powerful feeling, it'd be nice to have a richer vocabulary for it. I like the onion metaphor someone made. Other times there's a related feeling (shallower?) but it's immediately followed by a melancholy about those who are gone. Just like there can be a real feeling of gratitude for being able to walk that stands on its own, which is distinct from a similar feeling that is followed immediately by sadder feelings for those less fortunate (or even relief or guilt at not being that way).
    I'm grateful that despite my self-critiques I still somehow retain enough confidence in myself that I'll be able to handle a variety of possible new challenges in the future, and not break under existing ones.

    • @ReWildUniversity
      @ReWildUniversity  7 месяцев назад +1

      These were powerful words, my friend. I think many of us feel that -- it can feel "right" to put ourselves down, and feel self-aggrandizing to say that we're grateful for whatever positive traits we might feel we have. For instance, can I call myself eloquent? Some people seem to think so, and appreciate the way I weave words when I speak on these videos. But on the flip side, I can easily look at other people who are much more eloquent than me and say, "well, Kenton, you basically puke words out without leaving anything that will really stick in people's minds. Certainly nothing worthy of a quote!".
      I think for people like you or myself who can feel uncomfortable discussing our positive traits, and it can be a wonderful thing that helps us to shift our self-perception and to learn to enhance our positive traits. You, I wager, will never be in danger of being a braggart or overstating your skills -- that's probably not something we have to worry about. But if we can acknowledge what we're good at and focus on getting even better . . . then we'll have even more gifts to give to the world =)
