  • What is the "eclipse mind"? It's a state of Beingness, when we feel fully present for the experience of life. Come along on my family's eclipse adventure and share in some of the experiences and realizations we had along our journey!

    Every time I watch one of your videos it gives me this nudge back in the right direction. Like a gentle reminder to be present and grateful, to see the good in people, to see the goodness in the world. 💚🙏

    Kenton, that was an important message. Well said.
    I still post videos on RUclips, mostly for documentation, but I'm not very social anymore. Thanks for reaching out to me the other day.

      Absolutely -- I can understand not being very social. My natural tendency is to have a very small group of close friends, so it's sometimes very strange to be "out there" with RUclips and such. Grateful for you!

    Thanks for this reminder about being present! It's so easy for me to miss all the fascinating stuff happening all around me while worrying about something else. Also, for weeks I've been checking the grocery store for pomegranates, to no avail, only to have you mention them here! Maybe *I* have just successfully rendered a pomegranate!

    So, so, SO COOL!!!! Way to manifest awesomeness! Lillee & I watched it from our backyard in Denver. We "Eclipse Bathed" for the duration. We played with shadows, paid attention to what the animals around us were doing, blew bubbles to see if they would look different. I love that you went to be in the Path of Totality!

    Hello! Glad you and your family are well, its been a hot minute since I've been able to visit the channel. Your adventure sounds fun! We were fortunate that we lived right in the path of the full experience. We made a sun sheild for our 1 year old and she seemed to have enjoyed seeing it. Our little magic during was helping explain what was actually going on to not just the kids, but several of our neighbors. And yes... like describing a venture with psilocybin, words stink sometimes! Haha!
    Please excuse my paragraph comment everytime... 😅 But while I have you, I need to look back through some of your older content regarding exercise and pain, I remember you had discussed it before. Life is changing again at our house lol. I used to be a decent athlete in my day, and now im experiencing the onset of "my thirties", and getting a little challenged by myself and the seemingly new injury every week. I probably just pushed to hard, but I have little time. With my blacksmithing business being young, and technically not "legal"(got the right paperwork filed, just doing stuff under the table at festivals and such) and yeah, now I'm using that to jump back into martial arts. MMA- Boxing, wrestling, muay Thai, all of it lol. Im coming on my 8th year off of all opiates and other downers.
    And love the anecdotes. In regards to our solar system, or even possibly our universe, how rare we are. How rare life, trees and wood are as a substance/building material, and be to able to see, well see at all. If that makes sense. And the mind, man oh man thats a topic... Take care good sir, im very happy and very grateful that I stumbled across your channel years ago. And thank you, cause I too struggle on being present. Life man... Words don't do it🍻

    • @ReWildUniversity
      @ReWildUniversity  2 месяца назад +1

      Indeed -- words don't do it!
      I'm sorry to hear about the injuries you're experiencing. At 52 now, I so often heard from people that I'd have to slow down -- not climb trees any more, not do handsprings, not do martial arts. It's almost as if people want us to induce the aging process through lack of movement! So it's great that you're keeping up with different movement paradigms. I do feel, however, like I needed to learn to "move smart" -- for instance, years of teaching martial arts and letting students practice their americanas and kimuras on me left me with shoulders that eventually needed repairs. Now I make sure that I train my students to have precise control, to feel the range of motion of a joint, and to always apply locks consciously. That means more refined skills for them, and no injuries for me. Of course, that's tough to "vet" people when you're training at public gyms, so at this point I only train with people that I've trained or people who I know possess a high degree of control and joint sensitivity.
      That's just one example, but perhaps it will help a little as you continue to sculpt a fitness regimen that will serve you throughout your life!
      Great to see you back on the channel, by the way! =) Kenton

    A homebody, or.. a forestbody, as the case may be. >>;=) Although I like to lounge around the lair, I can't pass a chance for a road trip. It's great to get away from home base now and then, and give some new perspective on the places you see each and every day. Both kinds of eclipses are cool, and the blood moons when they happen. Glad you guys got to take the trip. I know of a guy from MD that drove all the way out to see it. He had a great time. We had near total here, so I was here for it.
    I don't think you'd ever ever catch me driving any kind of self-driving car, even aside the not desiring to trust a computer with that thing. I like doing the driving, especially those trips across the country. Don't worry though, I don't tend to drive any faster than a 🐉 can fly, but I might refrain from telling you how fast that is. >>:=p The Queen of Gasoline is a feisty gal! 🤣🤣
    Being present in moments is something I struggle with, but I try to find things to focus on which are (or can be) memorable, even if they may seem insignificant to someone else.

    Minute 4&5 (an' I'm still listenin'!)..., "The Road less travelled..."
    Friend at Re-Wild UniVersity,
    Another Man that I (most often or very often) admire, an Aussie Named Max, Max Igan is fond o' sayin',
    "I find that when I set or even 'throw' mySelf 'into the wind'... I can 'ride' it. Like a Surfer rides a great, towering, terribly powerful wave, crashing towards the shore."

      What a lovely way to say it -- I'm not a surfer, but I often use that same visual of a surfer on a wave -- a moment of life that, if we resist it, will toss us like a leaf in the wind. If we release totally, we'll just be moved by the wave. But if we find that subtle middle ground, where we blend with the wave and add our own energy -- then we can work something that looks almost like magic =)

    Thank you for this. How do you remain present in our world of screens? How do you make your mind switch back to "present mode" when it has the chatter of "screen mode" running through it?

    • @ReWildUniversity
      @ReWildUniversity  2 месяца назад +1

      What a great question. Those screens are POWERFUL. Personally, I notice a significant difference between my mindstate during no-tech days and tech days. But even more important is what I use the screens for. Deliberate, educational screen time followed by reflection or discussion of the topic has only a small negative impact for me -- but getting sucked into "junk videos" is very damaging. So for me, at least, the answer to your question is to use screens deliberately at all times -- never to let them decide whether or not I'm going to view them, but always making the decision consciously.
