    Barry can certainly handle that 360 he makes it look so easy Your Beet must. Have cropped very well next Year. Your loading facilities will be a. Lot better when you get all those planings. Down Andrew your certainly on the ball getting all those jobs done just takes some organising Your always thinking ahead which in your job you have to do every credit to you and another fantastic video

    Hello Andrew, nice up date from you today. Looks like good news considering how late you planted. My goodness what a difference these new machines make compared to the old Standen gear I'm used to, True that was 40 years ago but even so! Thanks for your time and look forward to the figures on the returns and see you next time. PS thanks too have got to go to Barry, without whom you would be in dire jeopardy. Hi is a very goot operator no questions asked!

    Good update and some nice footage. Just as well there wasn't a shovel loading the beet. That set up looks as though it has got it sorted with a slower approach. Looks by allowing the traces to get that wet muck out. The 360 hasn't left much of a footprint either. Win win situation? Did you consider asking if the spreaders could distribute some of the beet cleanings? 😉

    Great video. Once you've soloed & subsoiled that beet land, I'd find a power harrow drill from somewhere and be straight in there getting it drilled.

    Cracking update again Mr Ward. I spose the good thing loading with a swing shovel is Barry can tidy up as he goes which is good. Many many years ago when I was at home working we grew sugar beet and once we gave up milking we used the old silage pit for storage for the beat it was perfect for the job. My brother is a big contractor down here and he’s just picked up a contract with south west water spreading sewage sludge.

    Andrew, thank you again for a great video
    Your videos really are my type of classroom, you clearly explain the where's, how's and whys
    The grab bucket you showed early on in this video, would that potentially be another level of screening alongside the cleaner loader
    Thanks again for catering to us non farmers
    We had our first frost here this morning, more an air frost than ground, but a sign winters fast approaching
    Take care all

    Thanks Andrew, yet again an informative video. Barry's skill clearly demonstrated. I am not so sure the Ropa Maus Beet Loader would take that much more soil out. I have used it albeit on much lighter and kinder soils, but would rather have a Barry !!

    Great video Andrew, good to see Barry doing a good job with the 360. I have seen a machine out at Stickney and near Deeping St James that drives slowly along the beet heap cleaning and loading as it moves along. Hope you get some dry weather to get the land work done. Looking forward to the next video.

      It’s called a Maus but the trailers need to tip in a narrow line, not 2 trailer heaps wide as ours was. Great machine in the right conditions though.

    Busy week for you, good to see beet off to factory with little disturbance to beet pads thanks to using the 360 digger But extra costs that you could do without

  • @fredsmith2474
    @fredsmith2474 4 часа назад

    Super crop of beet again, despite a smaller bucket 12 mins is still efficient loading and gives cleaner chance to do it's job properly.
    Those clam shell buckets are widely on the continent on wheeled excavators. Pity Barry didn't have time to track across and load the sludge. Telehandlers are just to heavy when the soil gets wet.

      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  4 часа назад

      You’re right, a 360 is much better to loading sludge but it needs a good operator on one, like Barry. We’ve had it in the past when the contractor has brought a digger but dug too deep, taken some of the top soil and left a pond. The spreading contractor always provides the loading equipment.

    Hi Andrew another good video of what is going on at this time of the year on the farm , have you tried your 5 leg simba with the roller up so it would leave the ground standing up and give it a better chance for the air to get in and dry it out , or may be a pigtail cultivator and then the combi drill to follow works very here for us .

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  45 минут назад +1

      It doesn’t have any depth wheels so wouldn’t be able to. We’re going to drill it this week and the roller broke up some lumps and levelled it out ready for the next pass.

  • @robdavis5711
    @robdavis5711 6 часов назад

    Another smashing update! Do you plant a roughly even spread of, eg, beet, wheat and OSR each year or is there a bias toward one particular crop in a given year? You seem to have mentioned winter wheat a fair bit but maybe that’s just the crop rotation, time of year and weather. Of your crops what’s the breakdown across the farm for next year, roughly… eg is it something like 40% wheat, 20% beet, 20% barley, 10% beans, 5% SFI, 5% Cereals Event???

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  3 часа назад +1

      Hello Rob. Wheat is the biggest crop, it usually gives the best returns, that’s why we grow wheat year after year, known as continuous wheat, on the clay soils. You can’t do that on the sandier soils though because of root diseases. You have to have a break crop, oats, beans, rape, sugar beet or other legume, in between. We’re about 70% wheat.

    Wouldn't it be possible just to plough and combi drill?

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  4 часа назад +1

      The soil has a lot of silt and clay. It would work but it would still need a couple of passes of something between the plough and the power harrow/drill.

      Please Do Explain Your Comment ??
      More like Efficient Modern Farming, No one is going to have labour to load 29 tonne lorries of Beet by Hand with Forks. What would your solution be ??

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  4 часа назад

      Ditto, haven’t a clue what’s wrong with how we loaded the beet. 🤷‍♂️
      I’d say because it’s so wet, which is out of our control, we’ve caused less damage to the environment and soil so farming at its best.
