  • Cows are headed back to the home farm for next 5-6 weeks. I want to get the home farm all grazed and trampled by end of August. This will ensure we can stockpile plenty of fresh grass for January February grazing. I’m really hoping to get down to 50-70 days of hay this coming winter but time will tell. Keep the cattle moving it’s really that simple nothing in nature stands still everyday all wildlife moves around. Humans are the only reason grasslands get overgrazed it’s all in the management. Thanks for watching

Thanks so much been very dry and hot this summer..we’re running about 100 day rotation right now. Spring time we do about 35-40 day rotation then once the grass slows in growth we start grazing stock pile. Work in progress each year we flex and change things somewhat and try to learn.

@@AlgiereRanch That's awesome. Glad to hear temporary fencing and geared reals are the secret to more fences for super cheap. We graze really remote with no perimeter fence on more than 3/4 of the land we graze. Once teh cows get used to daily moves or every 2 days moves they don't even touch the poly wire. then we have a cheap solar charger from tractor supply. In the winter though if you don't have fresh pastures soft wire doesn't keep them in I have learned that lesson a few times. Glad to hear your headed in the direction of lots of moves lots of paddocks.

Oh wow lol going for it man. We started with 2 dairy cross bottle calves lol. That’s awesome best of luck if it ever gets to stressful just cut back. Our farm ebbs and flows with stocking numbers. I really have to get some water infrastructure going next summer we haul them water or pump out of house well and it’s to much. I got to do a pond or develop one of the springs we have in the woods. Always something that’s for sure
