I love the little arm wiggle that every Tevye does.
It's actually reminscent/ part of a traditional Jewish dance, and the script actually calls for it to be kept in the production. But it's so great that why would you cut it anyway? =]
@@kyleburch6077 I saw the movie version and it took me 1 hour to realize he was jewish
Omg same!
The Road to Cosplay and Comic Con but like...fiddler is the most Jewish thing I know as a reform Jew
It is a staple of his character
I was just telling someone that there's nothing Anthony cannot sing, then I found this. He never ceases to amaze me, he's brilliant.
I've only just discovered Anthony Warlow. What a range of parts he has played. He has that russian/Yiddish timbre to perfection. Such a great talent.
Bass belter
@@gamer5101he’s a lyric baritone
@@ellefitzpatrick6339 he used to sing tenor
@@gamer5101Generally speaking, a Baritone can sing in the Tenor range, and I suppose Anthony preferred the Tenor range, but he’ll always be a lyric Baritone no matter what.
He’s the best in my opinion
My new catch phrase "I'm not really complaining After all with your help.... I'm starving to death"
4:17 just kills me. I was already enjoying this, but when he sang the line without actually saying the line, my heart soared. What a great performance.
Holy Crap!!! The Phantom, Mr. Hyde, and Dr. Jekyll singing this song...AWESOME!!!
And Daddy Warbucks
Anthony warlow forever🤗🤗😗😘😍😇
Yeah...holy shit, he’s versatile. What next? Sweeney Todd? Caractacus?
Flannery Monaghan-Morrs He actually is playing Sweeney Todd this year!!!
Neversmileatacrocodile that’s awesome!

Considering Warlow is not Russian, not Jewish, not old, and not fat, the acting itself in that was masterful!
And then there's his voice ... oye!
Normal people: I love the energy he brings!
Me, who has studied technique too much: hIS VOWELS AND HOW HE KEEPS THE ACCENT THE RESONANCE IM IN AWE
He really is impressive. I saw a version of this play live, but couldn't enjoy their rendition of this song because Anthony wasn't in it
this guy is everywhere! Jekyll, Phantom, Tevye!
Hargreaves Railway Films the musical god

ANTHONY WARLOW IS GREAT AT EVERYTHING HE DOES. PHENOMENAL.
Besides the arm wiggle, Topol (the actor-singer from the movie) move the hips, adding more joy and festivite to the song. Don't get me wrong Anthony Warlow performance is superb. They both good, but my favorite is Topol.
I saw Zero Mostel in the revival of "Fiddler"on Broadway just a few months before he died. No one ever matched him in this role.
I agree. Nobody shakes it as passionately as Topol.
Everybody loves the original of something - nobody can ever quite reproduce the magic from the original performer. I use Jerry Reed's guitar piece "The Claw" as an example - I've seen many play it, but they never get it the way Jerry did. The original creator and performer of a piece be it music or a theatrical performance, is always something special.
Honestly I would much prefer people mimicking his performance, just like how Mark Hamill has become the definitive voice of joker and most performance are just imitations
Anthony is an international treasure!!! I just love him!! God bless Australia’s favourite son!!❤️❤️
I would not have recognised this Australian stage singing legend. Such an amazing range. One classy gentleman.
This is absolutely masterful. There is a reason Anthony is an icon. ❤
Til this day, I feel so lucky to be able to see the legend, Anthony Warlow in one of my absolute favourite musicals live with my daughter.
MAGNIFICENT. Best version I have ever heard....and I saw Zero Mostel.
I still prefer Mostel, but this guy's right up there.
Please SOMEONE get Anthony Warlow back to the USA to perform. In ANYTHING. He was absolutely beautiful in Annie. We need to borrow him again!
OMG he played Annie ? I loved him in this clip, but that' s just incredible ! :)
Saw this last night. He is amazing. The first time I saw Anthony Warlow was when he performed as Phantom in Phantom of the Opera.
The pauses, inflections and stresses on key words are the work of pure genius. A brilliant performance. Topol definitely captures the soul of Israel but this is a must.
I have adored Anthony Warlow since I was a young child. He is incredible.
I think Fiddler on the Roof is one of my favorites
A GREAT VOICE EVER I MUST SAY, NO WAY! A GREAT PERFORMANCE EVER! Merci beaucoup! Emmanuel from Paris
I have toured with Fiddler MANY times and this interpretation is up there with the great ones.☺👌
He has an amazing voice!!!!
Wonderful, witty, daft and gently human song. Love it.
We have just seen this today at the Caiptol Theatre. Wow AMAZING!!! Andy Warlow and the cast.. REALLY WORTH SEEING!!!!
Wonderful performance which brought tears to my eyes.
margaretjcox
He was even more incredible the two times I saw the show in Sydney
I am preparing for auditions for this musical. These videos help me out so much to preview for the auditions. Just wanted to say great job and thank you!
ilovehorses 1026 good luck!
Thank you, BB TT!!
ilovehorses 1026 break a leg btw that's show talk for good luck
Cinnamon Crush so did you get role?
how did you go?
Amazing. Beautiful powerful voice and performance 🎉🎻 Anthony Warlow🌹♥️
Trivia: Chaim Topol Performed this song on the exact same stage during his 2007 retirement tour during its Australian leg.
He was awesome as usual. Got to see him live.
What a privilege. : )
I would have paid good money to have seen Topol on stage.
His sighs make this number.
Anthony is so amazing
I love it. This is a Master piece!
Hands down one of the best versions
Yo! How has Anthony Warlow played every character I love?
Just saw this. Amazing.
Absolutely majestic performance of this classic and amazing composition. My family originate from just such origins, coming over in the 19th century to London, England from Wolkowysk in what is now Belarus and it warms me so much that a musical of the quality of Fiddler on the Roof exists to reflect that simple yet paradoxically difficult era.
Excellent !
That was pleasant to watch .I have sang this song , since I was 10 ! And I know hes hilarious!
I've had the great pleasure to see Zero Mostel and Topol perform in Fiddler on the Roof. My favorite is Topol!
When Topol and Zero Mostel performed the "If I were a rich man" number they brought the house down!!!
This is amazing.
This is what I need my guy
Legendary!!! God I love this man so much
I love this man
Now he’s the best one I’ve seen! VERY TALENTED he is! 😊😊😊
loved this !! hi from uk!!
Brilliant!
A Greatest rendering that version ever! Merci Beaucoup for IT. A Great Voice Ever Emmanuel from Paris
More please!!!!!
This was a pretty awesome performance!
Beautifully done.
💕 I love Topol in the movie version. But this is good as well. Thank you. 👍🏼😍
After having never known of the song for years, I've grown fond of it. Though I may try to see the movie, because from the way Tevye describes Goldie, I'm half expecting his wife to be like the Scotsman's from Samurai Jack.
Una de las mejores interpretaciones que he visto. Felicitaciones.
Anthony Warlow played Tevye, too?! When's he gonna play Jean Valjean, then?
+BNSF1995 he is a lyric baritone and valjean is supposed to be a tenor..but i would love to see him as valjean!!
Anthony has a vocal range unlike anything I've ever heard, I do believe he could pull off Valjean. After all, him and Colm Wilkinson have shared plenty of musical roles (The Phantom, Jekyll & Hyde)
I would seriously admire him as Valjean, have you heard his Bring Him Home cover?
BNSF1995 Anthony needs to play Valjean and Colm Wilkinson needs to play Tevye.
BNSF1995 MAYBE JAVERT
Amazing!! He has so much talent!
Sensational
Incredible!!
Immediately clicked this when I saw it in the sidebar yes please I wanna see Anthony Warlow Tevye!
Oh the question of the ages!
Superb as ever~
This might actually be my favorite version of this song, most versions emphasize the music too much and gloss over Tevyre’s humble servant nature and he just comes off as whiney. This version still has the peak at the final note which I think still breaks character but I can’t figure out how to make it work
it is amazingg
this is now my favourite song
The same Anthony from Jekyll and Hyde?!
yep :)
Has Tony done Most Happy Fella yet? He might still be too young. God I adore him.
I don’t think so! But I’ve heard he’s done some songs from the show in concert, so hopefully it’s something he’s considering for the future!
This is AWESOME
Oh I can see... This is what the Phantom's wildest dream is about
Awesome!!!
Worth we’ll the wait! We love it 😍!!!
Yeah, I'm one of those idiots that didn't know this was a real song at first. I know this song as a Doctor Octopus meme from 2004. Then I came to find out that on Broadway, Doctor Octopus was IN this musical, in this role, which is why he sang the song in the special features of the Spider-Man 2 DVD.
Huge repertoire in musical theatre, but also has extensive one in Opera as well. Classically trained Baritone. He is the whole package. Right up there with The legendary Tevyes like Zero Mostel and Topol.
Love you anthony!!!!!!!!!
Thanks, Haelina Lee
wow this guy is good
awwww he did so well!
Great song from brilliant show - produced at Chichester Festival Theatre summer 2017.
It's not as good as Topol, but it's still absolutely amazing!
Brilliant
very good but no matter who sings this song they never get close to Topol, its HIS song and HIS performance that will always rule
Damn Warlow save some musicals for the rest of us haha 😄 awesome rendition though
This is really good :)
Very odd not to hear applause at the end of the number. I assume it was cut off right before it started, but it gives it a bit of a coronavirus feel, like a show with no live audience for online viewers only.
I assume from the lack of audience reaction DURING the number that there was no live audience present when this was filmed either (perhaps because good camera placement would not then have been possible). Agreed that the effect is odd. But makes it all the more impressive that he's able to invest so much energy and spontaneity in the performance without anyone having been there to react.
Zero Mostel was in the original production of Fiddler, and Chaim Topol in the film verison of Fiddler, and returned to the stage to star in the revival of Fiddler on his retirement last tour.
my dad loves the movie and my school is doing this as the play, just trying to familiarize myself with the songs
The part at 3:21 sounds like something from maybe a traditional song or something. If I'm right I would appreciate a name of it.
Nope... It's the songs own original tune
I think it’s the tone of the vowel and the vocal cracks that do it!
Well, that section is written as part of the original song (i.e. it's not interpolating another specific piece), but it's definitely referencing a characteristic melodic gesture of lamentation often found in cantorial and klemzer music -- one that makes a striking use of the descending harmonic minor scale, with its expressive fall of an augmented-second interval. It also stands out because the rest of the song is mostly in a major key.
Genial
Ole!............
Anthony Warlow is the singer for jekyll and hyde in the recorded version
Love this version but still sad they didnt use his version of the album for J + H
Fantastic! It's as good as Topol!
Not to take anything away from Warlow, but you should check out Zero Mostel's performance. It's on another level.
Good yar very good
I'm might be in this play
I felt this song, but if I were a rich girl.. hmm wait a minute
Çok hoş ya
Beautiful songs art Jewish
I played a role as a poor man in a elemtary school play, 4th grade crazy how famaous thus was. Wow
Dr. Otto brought me here
