    This amp sounds incredible! Fender, please keep offering handwired reissues of your classic amps. Even if these don't fly off the shelves like Blues Jr, the pros and folks into the vintage stuff really appreciate having this and the American Original line.
    I love that Chase actually cranked this amp to show off the power tube crunch. I'd be happy plugging straight into one of these and not using any pedals. If the amp is cranked, you can do a lot with your guitar controls and with the reverb and tremolo in the amp.

  • @EvanBradleyEDB
    @EvanBradleyEDB 7 лет назад +103

    That is a _sweet_ amp. It also took me a few minutes to realize his guitar is strung in reverse (with the low E closest to the controls). Still blows me away how people play like that.

    • @jmparker56
      @jmparker56 7 лет назад +3

      I saw him in concert the Sunday night and trying to follow what he was playing and it just did not look right, and then it dawned on me playing left handed and strung in reverse. Instant respect! Real good player!

      In Denmark we have a guitarist who plays the guitar strung in reverse too. His name is Uffe Steen and his style and sound is very masterful and unique. See for yourself ruclips.net/video/ocS5LsycPcM/видео.html

      +Evan Bradley It is mind blowing. But if that's the way you learned, that's
      the way you play. Albert King, Otis Rush, Eric Gales, Doyle Bramhall ll, the
      list goes on. It's just what felt most comfortable to them when they first
      grabbed a guitar as lefthanders. They flipped it over and it worked for them.

    I have a 71' and it sounds just like this amp! As for left handed guitar, I am right handed and have a left handed son. I gave him a 69' telecaster thinline and he learned to play it right handed easily! He said it only makes since to him that you play the neck with your dominate hand because it has to do more complicated things. Makes sense to me because he's better than I am! Lol I don't tell him that

    I'm an old dude that had both a real-deal '66 DR when new in 1966 and I got one of these '64 Custom hand-wired models recently too. I was only 15 or 16 at the time but my Mom got that '66 DR for me. I honestly think that the new one sounds as good or BETTER than the '66 I had. The new'64 Customs aren't cheap but worth every penny. Hint: find one used on Reverb... 😉😉

    Man, watching this video breaks my heart because I was an idiot in the 90s when I had an original '64, but I needed some cash so I sold it to a guitar store that specialized in high-end instruments & amps. That was stupid. La Grange on this amp sounded just like ZZ Top. It was the exact tone.

    i bounced between 4 fender amps before settling on the 68 silverface twin. the new silverfaces will start to overdrive at 4,the blackfaces almost double around 7 or 8 in my experience. the deluxe and vibrolux both sounded great but did not have have the power to fill the room unmiced. The vibrolux came close but i was playing it on 7-10 and at that point there was no headroom left for cleans. you could litteraly kill someone with a twin or make thier day, its a specail beast. FENDER FOREVER!

    • @weschilton
      @weschilton 5 лет назад

      I love the Twin by man its SO loud and heavy... Seems that this amp was overdriving at 4 as well.... the cheaper 65 reissue has more headroom it seems, better for pedals and still sounds pretty damn good.

    Fender's biggest mistake in my opinion is not having ALL their tube amps made in Mexico with hand wired turret board construction. They pay the labor down there just over $6 an hour. Any amp can be hand wired in less than 6 hours. Having discrete components (NOT having pots built into printed circuit boards for instance) would only cost a few additional dollars. They could have all their amps hand wired for only around $100 to 150 more. If you could get a hand wired Hot Rod Deluxe for $850 for example, Fender would immediately dominate the amp market.

    Fender should be doing more handwired reissue amps.. Sweet sounding amp. They could sell a ton of hand wired 58 Bassman amps. ..Would you rather pay 10 grand for an original Bassman? Pay $2800.00 to some amp builder to make you one or spend $2800.00 and get a hand wired Bassman from Fender...? No brainer. .............BTW; sweet Tele Custom!

    • @withmygoodeyeclosed

      I bought a used Victoria 45410 for the price of a Bassman LTD, so you could go that route to get a handwired tweed Bassman :). Anyway, this Deluxe Reverb sounds great, just bought a vintage 78' silverface though.

    • @Avalanche1368
      @Avalanche1368 7 лет назад +2

      Great choice.. I'm just saying to have "Fender" on the front of a handwired Bassman, would be cool,. But if it came between a Victoria and a Fender reissue Bassman with PCB boards? The Victoria blows it away. No contest, no brainer choice! Victoria makes great, if not the best Fender vintage amp clones....

    • @withmygoodeyeclosed
      @withmygoodeyeclosed 7 лет назад +1

      Yeah the Victoria is a keeper for sure, not THAT heavy for a 4x10 too. Anyway, i played a Fender Tweed bandmaster reissue in a store one day and cranked it up, much to the dislike of the sales man and that sure sounded very fine, it would kinda make sense for them to also reissue the Bassman like that..

    • @Avalanche1368

      It amazes me that they don't do more reissues.... By not reissuing their great amps of the 50's and 1960's they left the door open to all of the boutique clones..Heck the amp I want to see Fender build is a handwired Blackface Vibrolux, but with a single 12" instead of the two 10" speakers. I'd totally buy one..
      I picked up a 1968 Super Reverb silverface "drip edge," "black line" locally off of Craigslist cheap. It's in near mint condition. You could eat off the chassis.The early 1968''s still have the AA763 blackface circuit as it was a transition year. Original CTS Alnico speakers. I really like that amp.. Freaking loud though...
