Please can you do a tutorial on how to create a frame for a phone cover. It would be useful for those of us that want to create mocks from a photograph
Great tutorial Greg. I have an issue, maybe you can solve, and then make a tutorial from it. I've got your creating frames hack down. Now I was wondering if you could make a tutorial about mockups? Specifically about placing an image, behind a reflection in a glass frame. I found one YT video on this, but it had no words, nor instructions. So I didn't really understand the steps. The YT channel I'm referring to is; Frame mockup using Photopea by Artjafara. If you wouldn't mind checking this out, and making a vid tutorial of it. It would be super helpful. I like the way you explain things. I hope you will give it a try. Thanks

Thank you for another amazing tutorial. When you make frames with canva elements that originally pro content, and bringing it back after converting to pdf in photopea, I can share with people with canva non pro account and they will be able to use it without problem, correct?
Yes, Ayaka, it should work. Sorry for the slow reply. And usually when you are converting a photo or graphic element into a frame that will hold something entirely new that would be considered a "transformative" use, but if you are ever selling/monetizing something and you have questions about transformative/fair use then that's when you'd consult with someone who understands copyright law. cheers, Greg
Hello sir I hope you can help me, been using canva quite a bit but pretty new to photopea . I don't have the "paths" option showing . I have layers and channels but no paths option.. Is there a place where I need to turn it on or is there another toolbar I need to go to to get it from? Thanks in advance"

it isn't allowing me to click the path button at the bottom of photopea, then when i click on current path under vector mask drop down, it is removing my image altogether and just leaving a transparent background. Any tips on this?
Hi, Tina. Yes, if you do not have a path created and active then when you do the Layer->Vector Mast->Current Path step then things will disappear. The key is making sure you have those 1st steps completed. If you aren't being allowed to click on the "Selection to Path" icon under the Paths tab then chances are you do not have an active layer with something selected. Return to the Layers tab and 1) Makes sure the Layer is selected/highlighted in the layers menu. All you have to do is click on it to ensure this...so if you are working with the "Background" layer then just click on it, otherwise click on whatever layer contains the subject/item you are using to create the path/mask. Next, 2) You want to Ctrl + click on this layer to load it as a selection (on a Mac it would be Cmd + click). You should see a dotted line appear around the item/subject in the main window. You also could load the selection via the top menu, Select -> Load Selection, click OK. With the subject selected now you should be able to continue with the other steps. Paths -> Selection to path and then Layer ->Vector Mask->Current Path. Hope this helps, just let me know if you still end up stuck and have more questions. cheers, Greg
Hello, will you be able to create a video on how to create a Canva frame in an image, such as a 16:9 size TV ratio, that is in a living room setting as if you have taken a picture and the TV is displayed at an angle. Thank you Carla, I'm glad you're finding the videos helpful. You can create a frame that matches any shape, but if you have a angled/skewed, non front-facing frame then ideally you would have a picture to go in the frame that matched that orientation. Canva, doesn't have a way to "skew" perspective like that but with other software like Photopea/Photoshop/Affinity Photo you can easily skew the perspective of an image. If you're interested in a tutorial on how to do that then I'll add it to my list and create one when I get a chance! cheers, Greg

I followed along the steps to create the frame using photopea but somehow when I open the pdf inside Canva, it’s not being recognized as a frame just an image. Which step went wrong? I tried 5 times and only once I managed to get a pdf that worked. The other 4 pdfs didn’t. But they are all based on the same canva png I created. Any insight appreciated!
Hi, Adelaine. Hmmm, not sure...usually if you've worked the outline steps then Canva should convert the vector mask into a frame. The only time I've seen this not happen is if it's a really basic shape like a rectangle or a circle. Or if you sometone missed a step. If you can some link to the PNG you're starting with or one of your final PDFs then I'll try to take a look and see if I can figure out what's going wrong. cheers, Greg

If you just follow my custom frame method, ruclips.net/video/zlIQ64HTuxg/видео.html, then when you import the PDF the area you turned into a vector mask should become a Canva frame. If you just want to simply cut an image, using the Image Merge app will be simpler than this complex frame. Canva is very simple, please don't make things complicated. :(
The Image Merge app will clip one image to the bounds of another, but it has limited free uses before you are forced to a pro account. The custom frame methods I teach can be done with free software and open up a lot more creativity and flexibility for users who want to be able to create their own custom frames that are reusable and will work with different images within the frame (and you can repositions within the frame). Also, the process is not much more complicated than the Image Merge App which forces users to upload PNG images they will use. But, I never push one method of doing things on anyone, it's really about whatever workflow works best for the each individual user and this is going to obviously vary across users. If the Image Merge app is works for your needs, that's great! cheers, Greg
