  • Decided to tune my baritone nui (tenor guitar) from DGBE to GDAE. Had an old set of ball end classical guitar strings that I used. I found some info online of what someone else had tried (see below). It seems the strings need to be high tension, and I lucked out having a set already.
    Low E guitar string --- G
    A guitar string --- D
    G guitar string --- A
    B guitar string --- E

Wow. Outstanding tone. I had never thought about a tenor with nylons.

I've just restrung a tenor uke to CGDA.
    I'm absolutely loving fifths!
The tenor guitars with steel strings sound fine but I really like the sound of nylon strings (classical player here).
I'm tempted to try it on a baritone uke or get a nylon tenor guitar but I also want to try dropping down to a concert size uke to get more notes right under my fingers and make some of the bigger stretches I'm doing a bit easier for faster folky type stuff.
I can't help thinking the lower C string and all the extra tension would work really well on this Pono.
The tenor I used is just a very cheap tinny thing (solid spruce top though) but it absolutely came alive with the heavier strings.

I recognise the Forked Deer, so your plectrum works isn’t too bad 👏👏👏

Are you using the thumb to play the 2 low strings and the index and middle to pluck the melody? What fingerpicking pattern you're using.

Yes, using the thumb to play the 2 low strings, index on next and middle on highest string. Not really a picking pattern. Picking to fit around the melody.

Hi, beautiful playing. What is the model number? Thanks
