Right on point. I am a police officer and started my career with a mild loss. Twenty years later, I now have moderate to severe loss. I do find myself isolated and lonely. I recently got a pair of hearing aids and learning to adjust to them. I waited so long because of the fear of losing the job I love most. I am now paying the price.

Thanks for the info, worked in many steel fabrication shops over the past 30 years, it sounds like people are talking jibberish, it’s so confusing, I try and guess what they are saying and it’s sometimes embarrassing. This is my main issue.

Hi Doctor: I have a question: If a patient gets a "hearing-improvement" device (e.g., Airpod Pro) other than the expensive prescription hearing aid, and as a result is able to hear very well and is no longer socially isolated, would that prevent dementia as effective as a prescription hearing aid?

Thank you for the lovely comment. I would recommend trialling the More before you decide to purchase as the latest technology almost always performs better than the previous generation.

i don’t know how bad my hearing loss is but i have tinnitus and sometimes it makes me unable to hear out of one or both ears for around 15-30 seconds.. i have a doctor’s appt soon so i will talk to him about my hearing but i’ve always assumed my hearing loss was very mild but after some research i’m not quite sure 😅
