The chicks were both horrified of the giant hand appearing in their nest as well as astounded by the fact that their siblings have returned. Priceless reactions.
Mr. Kes is such an amazing creature, taking on a role that he wasn't made for to make sure his chicks survive. I'll always wonder where Ms. Kes went, honestly I fear the worst but nature is unpredictable. Thank you so much for taking such great care of all these chicks and giving Mr. Kes a helping hand, 6 beautiful and healthy chicks
Mr Kes is truly amazing considering Mrs Kes left. She may have fallen victim to a predator. Nature can be cruel at times. Sometimes human intervention is necessary to ensure that birds such as kestrels survive.
It's rare that this specie actually have sexual differences. Normally same behavior makes the genders to be the same, and it will be better if both of them do the 2 roles, like other species of bird of pray. At the end everything is random and evolution don't look for perfection but "just works". Nature isn't perfect. Mr. Kes it's amazing
What an amazing dad bird. Most dad bird would just drop off their kill and wouldn’t know what to do with it but this is one caring dad. Glad to see all the chics doing well with your helping hands.
I cannot begin to imagine the time and patience that’s involved, doing everything that you do, Robert. Just filming and editing this video alone takes more time than most everyone realizes or understands. Thank you for your loving dedication. I always look forward to your latest adventurous endeavors.
Such an amazing story to watch unfold. So sad to have lost Mrs. Kes but very special they had an expert wildlife rehab human to help. We are so grateful to see their success.
The siblings reaction to the appearance of the other three is priceless🥰 The Dad most probably thought "Its a miracle where were they and they just appeared"
Rob, it was heart wrenching to loose Mrs Kes 😢just after her six chicks had hatched 🐣. Mr Kes with your help honoured her by raising her babies to fledging, what super dad he is. Such a happy ending to a sad beginning. I still laugh every time I watch Mr Kes calling for a new mate & all the babies zoom in, “ok dad we’re here, what’s up?” The surprised look on his face was hilarious I felt he was saying “oh come on, you’re cramping my style, I’m an empty nester now, so go away & live your life”. ❤ 🥰🇦🇺
No. Robert is NOT trying to be a father, he doesn’t want that bond as they are better raised in the wild. He is more of a short term ‘feeder’ as even he said he wants as little to do with them as possible to avoid that. Stop putting your own sh!t prejudices and jumping on anything to make yourself feel morally superior. Jerks. Watch out, your own ‘tolerance’ is showing.
@@chickenlittle5095 no one said anything about Robert being the second dad… we are talking about homosexual kestrels lol please calm down. nobody is being ‘pre judiced’, nobody is being a ‘j*rk’ and nobody is wanting to seem ‘morally superior’ as you are ac cusing us of. No idea how you manage to react so vioIentIy to a simple statement that kestrels can mate in male to male pairs much like many other bird species
The contrast between those chick that have had human contact and those who have not is fascinating. The fear exhibited by those without the human contact is so evident (at 4:35); and those with human contact are just taking it in their stride...maybe confused. Beautiful and amazing work by all those involved.
One year we had a kestrel nest in our pine tree. It was glorious to see the parents come and go. Less glorious being woken up at regular hours during the night with the chicks shouting to be fed! But it's an experience many don't get and I know how hard Robert worked being the extra parent. A fabulous video about one of our beautiful birds we should treasure.
What an amazing 👏 story of your passion for wildlife!! I voted for Mr Kass to get father of the year for Father's day! Those chicks were lucky to have two great Dads! 💕💖❤️👏👏👏
I am always in tears when watching a video of this very special family. To me it's heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. The surviving, wonderful, adorable keslets. The very sadly lost mum, amazing Mrs Kes. The beautiful, amazing, astonishing, astounding, loveable dad, Mr Kes. Mr Kes, my love. All my love from the bottom of my heart to the two dads, Mr Kes and REF!❣❣ My respect and admiration for REF has no end. Thank you so much!🏆🌟
I Really Admire what you are doing Mr Fuller! I too have taken Care of a few Wild Bird Babies here in Hawaii to help them Survive. They are So fragile when they are So young and Can Perish quickly within just a day or two if they don't get enough food which can easily happen with the most Frail little ones. God bless you for your Work!! I have to say now this Great Video Really gives me a little Hope for the World and these Beautiful Creatures specifically! Thanks again Mr Fuller..
Robert your channel is one of the best wildlife channels on RUclips. Thank you for all the work you put into these educational videos, and for caring for all the wildlife. You make a difference in this world.
I'm so happy when I get a notification from you. I really look forward to your videos, thank you so much for all you do especially all the hard work and dedication that goes into the wildlife. ♥
It never ceases to fill me with wonder in how Wildlife & Nature are so exquisitely embracing of additions into the nest, such as so perfectly demonstrated here, with our glorious Mr. Kes. He doesn't bat an eyelid - He just gets on with the job in hand - And he is magnificent in his work. I believe the world can learn so much from wildlife & nature. Mr. Kes epitomises an ideal in his super noble acts; He is a gentleman bird, who I find so ecstatically inspiring. How I love him. 🥲
Such a beautiful story to watch unfold. I remember when we were all watching patiently as each chick left the nest, only Jeff remained and eventually he went as well. Pure magic, Robert! Great work!
My heart was 💔 when I did not see Mrs. Kes return with six🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥needing food and warmth. Your intervention was key to their next step to survival. I am 🥰overjoyed to view such full crops 😋😋😋😋😋😋and a sibling 🤭huddle. Thank you for your advocacy and compassion. 💯❤🩹❤🩹❤🩹❤🩹❤🩹❤🩹
I really enjoy your blog, your a Saint. I'm really impressed by how the male Kestrel has stepped up to the plate taking care of his chick's. He's amazing how he has taken on both roles of mother and father. With your help the fate of the populations of Owls, Kestrel and now Kingfishers are in good hands. Thanks a Million Mark p.s. The valley in which you reside is stunning, it's so beautiful...
Astounding that Mr. Kes was able to rise above his instincts and realize that without Mrs. Kes around to tear up and feed his chicks the prey he brought in they would not be able to eat and die, and actually learned to take on the job he had seen his mate do! I don't know how common or rare that kind of learning is in birds outside of the Corvids, but I bet it's previously near-unknown among kestrels and other birds of prey with defined roles!
Everytime Mr. Kes returns to the nest, he looks to the chicks and think to himself: how is it possible that all of you are getting fatter than me? 😂 A big thank you to the "helping hand".👏♥️

The shock and horror on the older chicks' faces when he reunites them.
It was amazing to have a camera in there to see how they reacted!
I was thinking that horrified might describe the reaction 😂
"They seem a bit stunned by the siblings' return". That was an understatement. 😂
I think maybe it was the"Big Hand" that terrified them!
AAAAAAAHHHHH!!!

Ive never seen a bird look so confused in mu life
"WHAT THE HECK! What are you doing who this umm.. space plz..."
That's what I think they where saying as the siblings where renited.

Yes. Unfortunately she probably fell victim to a predator. Nature is harsh at times.
I think Ms Kes went to go get a lottery ticket.
What a dead beat mum
