Conan is honestly caring and empathetic as a human being. His jokes generally make himself the butt of the joke. Hes never punching down. If you look at his early performances, he wasnt quite as much this way, and I dont enjoy them as much. Hes still just fine, and kind etc. But hes honed his empathy throughout his career, and it make all of his humor easier to watch, and its heartwarming.
@@luminousdragonSmall correction - He punches down all the time to people in his circle. He beats up on Sona and Matt, and lets them beat up on him too. Conan also is happy abusing other comedians, but it's all in fun of course, and he doesn't treat "normies" like that.
Funny she says that about this podcast during COVID, her homemade videos just by herself with the piano (or some musician friend) was one of my comfort go-to videos during that time.
She is just amazing. One of those situations, if you had to choose the music of one artist to live with forever... Norah could be a great choice, it never gets old and almost every song is like a warm hug.
I really liked her debut in spite of myself, but her breathily repeating "Truth kinda hurts, don't it, motherf***er" on Mike Patton's Peeping Tom album made me her ride-or-die fan. ❤
That's just one of very many collaborations she's done. You should check out "featuring, Norah Jones" An amazing collection. In regard to that one, little known fact. Norah actually learned a little bit about herself, there. She learned she had more range than she was previously aware of.
jesus it's so easy to love Nora. such a thoroughly relaxing podsession, just like they say, it's intimate and friendly and we all get to see it. Brilliant
The “6 months is a long time” quip is probably the fastest, wittiest retort I’ve heard from Conan or anyone in a very long time.. that’s like Martin Short stuff
Jamming and riffing are similar because they both rely on an unspoken element of communication. To intuitively create art with others like that is an amazing experience... :)
Music and Comedy (or just being funny) are both things that can be universal, slap stick and instruments have no words, anyone who listens or watches can understand whats happening and enjoy it. They're two of some of the most special things in the universe.
Well, today I learned that I am deeply and irrevocably in love with Norah Jones. What an absolute delight this episode was, despite Conan committing an egregious series of HR violations during the intro
@AJ Santiago ehhh I feel like he crossed a bit of a line in this one. Unintentionally, I'm sure, but him talking THAT MUCH about Sona's breasts was a little uncomfortable.
I remember an interview years ago when Jerry Garcia commented describing a riff similar to what Norah was talking about - "yeah, we call it diving for pearls."
I should have included that Garcia added, "sometimes you times you find a pearl and sometimes you don't." Which, of course, was the point of the quote.
Norah Jones Norah Jones Norah Norah Norah Jones. Love to see her up to stuff. Genuine life long fan of hers. Wish I could thank her personally for all the wonderful years of music she's made, and for just being a wonderful person. I should probably stop at this point or I will rabbit on about why Norah's wonderful, for thousands and thousands of words... NORAH JONES!!!! [K, stop now]
but that wouldn't jive with the actual biz model of there being an incentive to it being a podcast. their thinktank puts these in line with being 'hooks' to get people over there.
I will always love Norah Jones for her bit on the Lonely Island's album. Her singing about a girl who looks like a big old bag of trash and Chex Mix will always make me laugh.
He's doing a full music month. Next week is the singer from Japanese Breakfast, then Neil Young, then Chris Martin and finally Billie Eilish and Phinneas
I mess around with music, although whether I'm "cool" enough to hang out in "the Music Yard" is probably debatable. Back when I was in Music School, the art department was in a different wing of our same building. After a few hours of the practice room grind, I'd swing by the art wing to see what the oil painters were up to. They always seemed more Zen and chill compared to us and I found that fascinating. btw, when I first heard Ms. Jones on the radio, I thought she was Bonnie Raitt. I wonder if she and Ms. Raitt ever hang out.
Visual art has all the chaos and pain inside, preforming art lets that all out. The painters seem more zen but they're just quieter lol, all the messy bits are inside and come out on to the paper.
Has Norah Jones done any acting since that Blueberry Nights movie? She was so sweet in that movie. Wished Criterion included that in the World of Wong Kar-Wai boxset
How's that movie? I've heard mixed things but Wong Kar-Wai directing an English language movie starring Norah Jones of all people always sounds fascinating to me.
not really. the faces are clear with no background distractions, which is ideal, especially for the desired vulnerable and realtalk model for which they are going.
you make youtube comments for people who don't like youtube comments. almost as bad as a soulless bot gps-chat who can't even hear the soul in something by definition
Conan actually handled a genuine compliment pretty well. That was kind of nice. Norah is magical.
This podcast has a real heartwarming vibe that I don't get from any other comedians.

Yes! The world felt a little bit less scary while Norah was playing on her old wooden piano.. :)

She comes across as a very talented and kind-hearted person. Great guest!
When she sang with Q Tip on Life is Better… wow. She’s very adorable in that video as well. Very soulful singer!
Man thanks for letting me know about this I have to look it up
I discovered her through Soon the New Day by Talib Kweli. Loved her voice in that one too

"Come Away With Me" was like discovering life on another planet. Few people born after 1990 felt that awe.
Why? People born after 1990 also get to listen to music for the first time.
The “6 months is a long time” quip is probably the fastest, wittiest retort I’ve heard from Conan or anyone in a very long time.. that’s like Martin Short stuff
Agreed! One of the quickest Lee Mack's type of stuff, caught me3 completely off guard like Sona!

During the early lockdown period, Norah was doing videos of performances from her home. Those were great.
Norah Jones is a Goddess, all her albums are great, but Come Away With Me is perfection.
I didn't know Nora Jones had her own, music based podcast. now I'll definitely need to check it out!
Norah Jones is a freakin' legend!

I love Norah, I think she is beautiful and amazing.
Everything he said about her is completely true ❤
She’s adorable.
She was such a cool part of the festival scene for years. She is amazing 👏 ❤️ 😍
Though a huge Norah Jones fan, I now wanted to hear the Kevin Nealon Returns episode of Conan's Podcast for perhaps the gazillionth time now.
That recent Kevin Nealon episode is the greatest podcast episode ever
Their laughs always brighten my day🤣🤣🤣🤣
You guys got Norah 🥺
What guys? She's the whole worlds lovely songbird, best we have. No one can own her, but she sure does own my heart.
The song she and Danger Mouse ….. “black” has been stuck in my head all day.
Norah's one of my absolute favorite artists ❤
Her podcast is great btw!
She is so awesome....really down to earth...
It was a genuine shock for me to learn that Norah Jones is the daughter of Pandit Ravi Shankar.
She does look Indian
Yep she is
