- Label says:
Fela Ransome Kuti & The Africa 70
Going In And Coming Out (part1)
Going In And Coming Out (part2)
EMI (S) 062N
This is taken from a 7" 45 rpm single of 1971.
So far i haven't seen this on RUclips.
I merged the two sides together to form one continious track.
The only thing is that it is a little scratchy especially in the first part (of the BOTH sides so you will notice this somewhere halfway along the track) besides that it's great song.
Enjoy !!!!!
Just when I thought I had Fela s entire discography I find this ..never heard it before God bless the internet and you who upload it !
The connaiseur no they just keep coming and coming .i started collecting fela as a kid. Im 38 now just now hearing this track .im always excited to hear a new fela track specially in my teen years. I have always heard fela had a lot of unreleased material. So lets look forward to more
Thank you for upload this beautiful baba kuti track for us that we haven't hear this track before you are bless
Hi, there, thank you for your reaction.
I must say it sounds more like 1974 and the label design is also more like 1974 but i saw it listed in 1971? (with a question mark) in 'This Bitch Of A Life' by Carlos Moore and also in 'Fela' by Michael Veal and the online Fela discography at :
biochem.chem.nagoya-u.ac.jp/~endo/EAFela.html
they all place this recording in 1971 or at least early 70's so that's why i stated it as recorded in 1971 (which still might be the case)
You could be considered one of the true custodian of Fela's oldies, and I thank you very much for your collection. Do you by chance have Fela's Beggar Chant: Yara Sula La? and Yese?
This was a 45RPM 7" Single only and was never rereleased nor compiled on any album as far as i know.
I THOUGHT I'VE LISTENED TO ALL FELA'S TUNES, WHERE DID THIA COME FROM..
When you think about it, EMI Records didn't actually exist in 1971. The label was launched in January 1973, taking over the interest from the old Columbia Gramophone/HMV/Parlophone company.
I think it took a few months before the switch was fully made in Nigeria (maybe it was more early to mid-1973 than late-73) but any record with the EMI Records label on it definitely was not released before January 1973.
Well, you know Prof. Endo's discography is forever a work in progress but for a long time, most of the entries from 1963 to 1974 or so were not correct. I have recently submitted some revisions, but I didn't notice that this record was listed as 1971(?) so I'll submit that change too. Like you said, apart from the sound of the record, the label is a sure giveaway: the orange EMI label was introduced in mid-late 1973. Before that, it was the blue (or white) HMV label and HNS serial number.
I am one of Fela's greatest fans ever and I've never even heard this.
Is this one of his unreleased tracks?
nice one. thanks for the upload.
This record was actually released in 1974, not 1971. Thanks for posting it, though... It's a rare one!
Well, I guess that explains it then.
thank you!!!!!!!!!!
