I’’d like to add that the president of the NABJ said the equipment issue was solved fairly quickly but Trump spent about 40 minutes arguing about the interview being fact-checked in real time. When NABJ’s president told Trump and his team that he was gonna go out on stage and tell the waiting audience that Mr. Trump wouldn’t be appearing because he wouldn’t agree to be fact-checked, Trump finally gave it up and walked onto stage.

Living just 20 miles south of Washington, DC, at the age of 16, I was in the crowd for King's "I have a dream" speech. Believe me, the crowd was enormous, as we are able to see in pictures and videos from that event. My grandfather took me to hear President Kennedy give the dedication speech for Dulles International Airport. I had many visits to government agencies during my teen years. I visited the Capital numerous times. I viewed the Constitution in it's protective case. I visited embassies. Those experiences made me appreciate our democracy and our government. I vividly remember the burial of my uncle at Arlington National Cemetery who died at Pearl Harbor at the age of 19, shooting at planes with a rifle. My grandmother visited his grave at least 4 times a year, me tagging along. Rows of neatly placed grave markers make an impression on a young mind: all these people served our country in the military. Every time one visits Washington he is blessed by meeting people from around the world. As a young adult, I was invited to prayer breakfasts at The Pentagon. Yes, tough generals and other officers meeting for prayer in the nerve center of our military. God bless our troops.

The slurred eliminating the Dept. of Education interview section was epic weirdness. Trump went on to invoke Norway but not explain what is presumably good about Norway. Trump went further to say that not all states would fare well, that maybe 15 would be worse off. That’s almost 1/3 of the country which would be worse off. Those hypothetical 15 states are likely beneficiaries of federal redistribution and most likely to be ones with have a heavy fan base.
Tim Walz pointed out that he grew up in a rural town too small to attract the attention of private schools. A lot of farm belt states which are traditionally Trump-friendly are in the situation where public education is the only viable choice other than home school. A lot of those rural families don’t have the time resources to provide adequate home school. Good luck with home school giving children the math and science skills they will need to be successful in the increasingly technical business of farming.
