    Man i just wanted you to know how much i appreciate these videos. I slowed down and nearly stopped painting miniatures the past 6 months because i felt like i was really bad at it and the miniatures will look better unpainted than painted. Any painting videos I couldn't even follow along after the priming but your videos solved that.
    With the speedpaint you introduced me to, walking me through step by step, and excellent video editing so i know what exact color to use and where is saving my hobby. My minis went from 4th grade acrylics to some intermediate adult painter with 3-4 year of experience in a matter of a week lol. Thanks for saving my hobby man

      Hi George! Firstly wanted to say thank you very much for taking the time and sharing your story, I can totally appreciate that you can come up against a brick wall when you just cant get something to come out right, even after spending a lot of time on it.
      Im so happy to hear that my videos can help someone just like you out there and it's comments like this that really do spur me on and i want to do more to help others too.
      You are always welcome here and if you are struggling with anything or have a question then please don't hesitate to ask as i will try to help where i can, and also there is a nice community on here also which would chip in with some questions and answers too :)
      Hope you will enjoy painting your next set of minis! :):)

    Great video, thanks! The OSL looks really good, this is one of the next techniques I want to try, but I am worried of ruining an already painted mini. I may try it with oil paints so it is easy to delete!

    • @SwordsandBrushes
      @SwordsandBrushes  Год назад +1

      Sounds good, ive seen oil paints work well for that reason :)
      Id say also if you have a scrap model that has seen better days then try it on there first, just to get you started :)

    Bravissimo! I painted a Frodo mini over 20 years ago, when I was just starting with the hobby, figuring out techniques just by try and error. This brought me so many good memories!

    Man, even with a sharp tipped Rosemary and Co or Monument hobbies pro sable, the eyes on a mini will always be an annoying 15-30 minute endeavor for me lol. But once I got it, I feel like I need a beer. Great job btw, and look forward to your vids with the new fanatics range!

    This is helpful! I just tracked down a second Battle in Balin's Tomb set (for only a slight markup!) that I'm going to paint up for a gift for my sister who is a big LotR fan. I learned a few things that will make these come out better than my first set.

    Hi Swords, I love the brown base coat. Good choice. That's funny, I use my finger too! Thank you very much for providing the different paints and their names. I like the way you highlight. Very effective. The skin technique is cool too. I've never seen this approach before. I'm not a fan of source lighting. Unless it done very judiciously (and with the proper colors and source), I find it dulls the model and the paint colors. You did a pretty good job with this. All around this model 'sings' with color and character. Thanks for sharing some tips with us. Very helpful and encouraging.
    PS I'm slowly getting my Fellowship together and some of your other videos will need a watch!

    • @SwordsandBrushes
      @SwordsandBrushes  Год назад

      Thanks very much! Yeh i try to use a variety of paints, methods and techniques across the videos - just because variety is the spice of life haha
      Yeh i just tried something different for skin - before it was solely using flesh wash but i like the extra colour on there such as red or purple.
      Ah grand i hope that you enjoy painting up the fellowship, is it this plastic set you are doing or have you got any alternative metal ones?

      @@SwordsandBrushes Hello my friend, thanks for the reply. I've only been into the hobby for a couple of years now and have yet to paint a metal model. I do like the different posing that they offer. I've seen some really cool action poses. I started with the Pelennor set and am adding as I go. I fell in love with MESBG. I'm in the middle of making a board. I'm anxious to get the Fellowship in the game for various scenarios. Thanks so much for a quality channel with great content. See you again buddy.
