Hey, great video. Something I noticed at the end of the video and some feedback for beginning portrait photographers. For hair lights or backlights, you usually don't want the backlight hitting the nose. If, as you shoot, you notice some weird highlights on the nose, move your backlights. Just a thought, but each to their own style. Thanks again for a great vid.
Mark.... you should probably wear one of those Newsboy hats ( backwards, of course ) when talking about lighting, It seems to work for Zach..... Oh and agree about the shirts , and the fact that you probably have the best vids !! ;-)
Haha. I rather like your simple wardrobe Mark, nice and comfy. Another very well done and informative video. What's the distance from your subject/model to your backdrop?
Hello just wnt to sknwhat kind if lught is you using in this tutorial,, and what about the camera setting that we will apply,, that you use in this tutorial,, thank you so much its verry big help for us to understand more ,, in photography,, more power and God bless
ONE QUICK QUESTION FOR ANYONE!!! Where can I find the first tutorial videos from Mark. I want to start from the beginning. He is an amazing teacher. I was a school principal...I know what I am talking about.
On the Adorama learning page. Left side you will see the link to the series "Digital Photography One on One. Sort them by date then go to last page and work you way back. Hope this helps! Koffee
If you only had Two Nikon SB-910 flashes how could you make a situation featured in this video work or is is a totally wrong approach? Can this be done with Speedlights and light modifiers ?
For all those amazing free videos teaching that Mark gives to the comunity, can any designs or Clothing Advisers can PLEASE give him a all new and nicer rack of «Polo shirts» !! A sponser maybe? ;-P (GREAT VID AS ALWAYS) A fan from Mtl, Qc
The shadow from the "Adorama tv" logo at the top of the set always makes it look blurry (rather than 3 dimensional). Great videos though - perfect for their target audience.
Hey, have you considered "photo SFX art" (search on Google for it)? There you will find a smart free video explaining the way to make outstanding photographs. It helped Daniel to make photographs that leave you with a wow-effect after you look at them. Perhaps it will work for you as well...
Thanks Mark I’ve learnt a lot from you over the years. Great teacher.
Awesome!! Still relative today if you want your photo to be the best. I am glad these episodes are popping up.
This is what I tune into this channel for. Great concise video. Much better than vids about toys for iPad. Thank you Mark.
I've been following your videos since Episode 1. Love your teaching, Mark! You are a great teacher, if not one of the best.
Hey Mark, you're great! I viewed all your videos in just a few day so I catch up with the new ones. Thanks a lot for all the help.

How do you determine how close, how far, and what amount of power from the light to the subject.
Great video thanks.
Why are the back lights/(hair light) are large soft box while key light is small softbox ?? any particular reason ?

The fire inspector would like ask you about the blocked EXIT.
No. He most likely leaves them all on. Look up episode 17. Specifically a little after 4min in. He talks about blocking ambient light.
Suberb 👍
mark i like your green dress
you are tremendous
Mark reminds me of Chuck from SOA.
Mark likes to gesticulate very closely and intimately to his model sometimes they flinch a little from fear of being hit. Haha
:) thanks!!!!!
Hahaha!
