Jackson was one of the hardest puncher of his division but he was not a technician in any meaningful way. He basically relied on his [devastating] punch--with both hands. And this is why, in this fight with McCallum, he went after McCallum right away, because McCallum is a boxer.
That's just terrible. You just win up to that point possibly the biggest fight of your career only for some bozo to announce you as another man's name...

Julian Jackson got his body snatched that night Lmmfaoooo Thomas Hearns Roberto Duran Sugar Ray Leonard maybe even Marvin Hagler was scared to fight this guy
Jackson was suitably menacing, and probably would have steamrolled 99% of junior-middleweights that night, but McCallum was brilliant, as usual: cool, controlled, granite chin, adaptive, slamming the body, then unleashing that first lightning 1-2, then those sustained body-head combinations--beautiful.
McCallum will always be kept in the shadow of the Fab4 because they all ducked him. He would beat up Duran, KO Hearns and probably outpoint Sugar Ray. Hagler might have unpicked him, but we'll never know. A truly great fighter.
Hagler and Leonard had a chance, he definitely would have knocked out duran and hearns EASILY but with duran it's not a bragging right cause your talking about the greatest jr middle of all time against probably the greatest lightweight of all time. I don't mean to blow too much smoke but there is a possibility that he might have beat all of them, McCallum is a beast an all around great fighter and people can easily see it when they know their boxing. Either way Leonard and Hagler were the only ones with a chance along with terry norris and Benitez who would have been fun challenges also
I think the referee could've given Jackson another opportunity, but McCallum had a granite chin, an almost unrivaled skillset and punched deceptively hard. I rate him alongside the Fabulous Four.

@@DiegoVillaOntiveros don't ever mention that clown wilder alongside mike & julian. disrespectful.
They say it was controversial stoppages, for me the ref do his job right. Jackson is not responding anymore and he got hit multiple tines while on defense.. Good call for ref
Bruh Jackson's shorts were so high the belt line was at his pecs
This fight should have more views. And do yall see how high jackson shorts was…he wAs askin for it
Watching this it’s hard to see Hagler Hearns or Leonard beating Mcallum
Maccallum couldn’t even beat Sumbu Kalambay
Imagine stopping JULIAN JACKSON and not getting any real recognition until your 39 years old🤨
On paper McCallum was vulnerable to a guy like Jackson. He was not the type of fighter who can just stay away and box he liked to stay inside and mix it up so he was going to get hit especially with right hands. Also a guy who throws a lot to the body is opening up his head to get hit.
McCallum just had the better chin. He got stunned a couple of times but took those punches and then when he had Jackson hurt he poured it on and got him out of there.
Stopped prematurely, but Jackson was going to lose anyway. McCallum had him figured out.
The thing is that at the stoppage jullian didn't go down but wasn't punching back and even if he did he was missing with his punches, great effort by both fighters, thanks 😎
I thought Jackson would blow Mike away.. McCallum was a very underrated fighter.
Mike “The Body Squirsher” McCallum
WAS A BEAST
Mike McCallum was a very good fighter it's a pity that he didn't get the opportunity fight the Thomas Hearns Ray Leonard and those guys that would been very interesting I guess we would never know now
mike wanted to fight them but they were too afraid to fight him
@@kingpro5857 Garbage
hagler may've beat mike thru sheer brute force, but hearns, duran & leonard woulda struggled.
@@georgegreig8054 true then true now
@@garrizelpinnock2692 I agree with iceface original comment but to say they were scared of him is shite. He was just not a big enough name at the time. Brilliant fighter though and he could have been competitive and might have beaten Hearns and Duran. Not so sure about Hagler. He would have had a chance against the older slower Hagler that Leonard fought.
Jackson was one of the hardest puncher of his division but he was not a technician in any meaningful way. He basically relied on his [devastating] punch--with both hands. And this is why, in this fight with McCallum, he went after McCallum right away, because McCallum is a boxer.
The body snatcher!! Now I know where errol spence got his style
Definitely see the influence
Incredible win.. well done. 👏🏼 👏🏼
Probably the two most impressive records going into any fight ever.
True legends.
Ring announcer announced the wrong fighter as the winner.
That's just terrible. You just win up to that point possibly the biggest fight of your career only for some bozo to announce you as another man's name...
i know he must of been high on something.
@@antoineemory6772 everybody was hahahah
What an unexpected pleasure to watch this fight without the distracting commentary. It feels more like I’m actually at the fight.
Fantastic fight, and Great ref awareness to save Julian from taking any more Power Punches!!!!
If you could have combined Julian's power with Mike's skills you would basically have the perfect fighter.
If you look up the word CLASS in the dictionary it says : Mike McCallum.
despite this flawless performance by Mike the judges colluded to give the decision to Jackson
No credit to Mike McCallum!! He was a great fighter. Took JJs 0 before Nate got him. Didn't panic..and those body shots! Damn!!!
If you watch McCallum vs James Toney and McCallum vs Jackson back to back, you really get a good idea of the monster chin that McCallum had. Ate some vicious shots from both guys who were destructive punchers. Plus the overall skills and body punching was top notch. Complete fighter.
Julian Jackson got his body snatched that night
Lmmfaoooo
Thomas Hearns Roberto Duran Sugar Ray Leonard maybe even Marvin Hagler was scared to fight this guy
I haven't since it originally aired.Bodysnatcher killed him with body shots.
damn they really announced Julian Jackson as the winner at the end way to ruin the moment lmao
Jackson was suitably menacing, and probably would have steamrolled 99% of junior-middleweights that night, but McCallum was brilliant, as usual: cool, controlled, granite chin, adaptive, slamming the body, then unleashing that first lightning 1-2, then those sustained body-head combinations--beautiful.
what a great fight jackson threw 200 bombs and mccallum dodged them with ease and counterpunched his way to victory absolutely brilliant
Worst ring announcer of all time! OMG! Great fight! Stoppage might have been a bit early, but the writing was on the wall.
He hurt him badly with a shotgun jab!
yeah mike's jab was 1 of the best ever.
McCallum will always be kept in the shadow of the Fab4 because they all ducked him. He would beat up Duran, KO Hearns and probably outpoint Sugar Ray. Hagler might have unpicked him, but we'll never know. A truly great fighter.
Hagler never ducked him.
Either way Leonard and Hagler were the only ones with a chance along with terry norris and Benitez who would have been fun challenges also
@@Omar-if1cu hagler the only 1 who'd start as favourite imo. a motivated benitez would be epic tho, loved el radar.
remember that mike pretty much ended don curry's career too. and curry was proper class.
Mike Maccallum LOST to Sumbu Kalambay in his middleweight debut lol
I think the referee could've given Jackson another opportunity, but McCallum had a granite chin, an almost unrivaled skillset and punched deceptively hard. I rate him alongside the Fabulous Four.
Good stoppage. McCallum was a sharpshooter and Jackson was in trouble. Both went on to become a legendary hall of fame champions.
Benefits of going to the body.
This is Spence vs Crawford
Did I hear correctly? They announced Julian Jackson as the winner by TKO! Wtf 😆😆
yes i heard julian jackson jackson
Yup the announcer screwed it up.
Tough loss for mccallum !

"These commentators are straight garbage truck juice!"
Haven’t seen much of him but he was very good 👍
Such an underrated fighter. If he was from the US he would have gotten far more recognition and glory. I would have loved to seen him step up and fight a prime Marvin Hagler. Hagler would have probably beaten him (similar to Mugabi) but Mike would have given him a hell of a fight. Thanks so much for posting! "The winner and new middleweight Champion of the world, Julian Jackson, Jackson!" Damn, was that a sound bit from another fight? McCallum won and he was defending the WBA super-welterweight title. Weird.
That fight should not have been stopped.
Mcallum was one of the most gifted boxers ever
