    Thanks for an actual frying video! All other videos I saw were for air frying and I wasn't sure if there was any tip to make it crispy in a normal frying process!

    What temperature for the first and second fry?
    I tired going by the sizzling of a test potato but within _10 seconds_ of the second fry my sweet potatoes were burned black😭 so I know my oil temp was too high

    You’re frying like my 11 year old son. I cut them and he fried them. This is exactly how he add them to the pot bc he was afraid of getting burn.

    Is there really some science proving that the double frying method is preferable to regular single frying?

    • @TheFlatCapChef
      @TheFlatCapChef  2 года назад +4

      Yep I have ‘experimented’ lots of times and to get that level of crisp especially with sweet potatoes it is the best way no doubts 👍

    What kind of oil do you use ?

  • @Cozycountry1
    @Cozycountry1 7 месяцев назад +1

    It's a good video showing the method, but without any spice mix on them it'd be really bland.

    • @TheFlatCapChef
      @TheFlatCapChef  7 месяцев назад +1

      Just some a salt is lovely but of course you can spice to taste 👍

    Temperature for oil?

    • @TheFlatCapChef
      @TheFlatCapChef  3 года назад +7

      160c for first cook then 190c to crisp up, if you don’t have a thermometer put a small cube of bread in and when it goes golden brown you should be ok 👍

    • @TheFlatCapChef

    Don't peel the most nutritious part

    • @TheFlatCapChef
      @TheFlatCapChef  2 года назад +4

      Agree you can leave peel on veg and I often do but getting crispy outside with the thick sweet potato skin doesn’t work in my experience, so have to peel them. Normal white potatoes you can leave the peel on 👍

    • @TheFlatCapChef
      @TheFlatCapChef  2 года назад +3

      Sweet potato skins tend to be quite tough and hard to crisp that is the reason I peel them, otherwise I agree skin on fries rock 👍
