I lived in Hanau as a civilian from 95 to 2000. I used to go to the bowling alley all the time. Great moment in my life always have love for Germany. Had many friends that I miss thank you a thousand times for your videos.
I was stationed at Fliegerhorst Kaserne 1971 to 1974, with the 2/75 th Field Artillery. I enjoy your videos of the Hanau and Frankfurt area. Thanks !🐶🤡
I was there that day in October of 1986 when they had the ribbon cutting ceremony for the opening of the new PX & Commissary. What a magical moment....Now here it is 33 years later and it's all gone...makes me beyond sad.
I was there for the ribbon cutting also. I worked at Military Clothing Sales at Pioneer at the time. About 2 weeks after the PX opened they kept pulling me to work at the PX. When eventually they permanently moved me to the PX, boy did I miss MCS though!!
@@pattib1914 Patti....Happy to know that one day back in 1986 you were at the same location as I was who knows maybe we were standing near each other when they were cutting the ceremonial ribbon for the grand opening....I miss all those great memories! I'm so sure you do also! Here it is 35 years later and boy do we live in different times...Take Care.
@Tony Taylor I was just a kid. We were there from about 1984 to 1986, then we went back in about 1990 to 1992. I was around six or seven years old and my mom would take me to the old PX and i barely remember it. Then I was in middle school by the time we went back and I loved the new PX, the bookstore, the arcade, the video rental store and the skating rink.
WOW! I worked there from 96-99. I was the reorder associate for the sports, furniture, outdoor living and toy stores. Hit the bowling alley every Wednesday for league and Friday for the bar. 😁👍 WOW! So different! Thanks for posting.
Thank you for the trip down memory lane. We have family trips there as mom/sister go to the commissary and Dad/the boys go to the PX, mainly books and comics. Still one newsstand comic I'm missing to this day from Sept 2001. Shipments got tight then, it exist since the next 2 years they delivered but never saw that months comic.
Would love to see Frankfurt Elementary #1, Palmengarten the Frankfurt City Hall square and Frankfurt Hauptbahnhoff. We were there from July Dec 75-July 78. I love your videos.
Hi. An Elementary school #1 video is in the channel's archives... Go back to the first-two-columns of vids posted, and there you should see it... BTW, I was also a student there in the late 1970's. It's my pleasure meeting other alumni from the school of the Bobcats. I had a lot of fun there all the way around, got decent enough grades so I could be on sport's teams, and was even, oddly, made a Captain of the schools Safety Guards… LOL! I loved that early-morning and after school duty, and as a result, I took it way too serious! Especially when I was a hallway monitor and/or street crossing guard. LOL! I eventually got "relieved of duty," for yelling at kids who wouldn't wait for me to stop the cars, with the little flashing stop sign that I had, before they darted across the street. I got put on restriction at home, and almost cried my eyes out... All for doing my job… SMH. However, I learned a very valuable lesson back then that I still respect and refer to today... That is, LET PEOPLE DO WHAT THEY WANT TO DO - even if they might be putting themselves in impending danger. LOL! Thanks for stoppin-by!
Hi... Love your comment… mainly because it's unusual from most post that I've read since 2013, when I started posting vids of deactivated U.S. MILCOM locations… Most USAREUR/MILCOM family members are disappointed, saddened, and maybe even depressed as a result of them seeing how much things may have changed since they were a part of the U.S. military's constituency in Germany.
I lived down the road from there in 1981 and went to Hainerberg Elementary school (3rd grade). Looking at pics now, it's unrecognizable but so many great memories of my time there...
Thank you for you uploads it's so weird seeing this now (80s military brat here).I've wondered so long how it looks there now.Im show my family your video's thanks so much!
Thanks for your videos. Makes me homesick. I have a video request. I was stationed in Hanau 84-87 and lived on DaimlerStr by the HBF. Would you please video the HBF and surrounding area. Thanks
Thank you for this video but it is so sad. We were stationed at Fliegerhorst from 1985-1989. I would sure love to see it again but after seeing all the videos I’m not sure I could do it!
As a german kid of the 80s/90s I loved to stray around the Hanau Wolfgang area. You could spot cars that weren't usual in Germany, you could buy clothes, food and softdrinks, that didn't exist in german stores. And the pizza slices at the little shop (Antonys Pizza, if I remember correctly) inside the px were outstanding :D. But with the awful event that took place on 9/11, everything was restricted.
Does anyone create videos that you may know of for the K-Town and Ramstien area of Germany? I was in the US Army in K-Town from 1974 to 1976. Thank you so much for sharing your videos. I think that they are awesome!
1981-83, Fliegerhorst Kaserne. HHC 503 ABC, transfer to Bravo 503 ABC, Budingen. returned to Fliegerhorst later on. Good times and friends I never will forget.
I was stationed in Francois Kaserne in Hanau. Do you have anything on that. My wife was with me in 1973-1974. We love your videos. Keep up the good work!
Hey, Joe. Great question. And, if you are interested in what the Hanau-Wolfgang PX compound used to look like, check in the channel's archives, and look for a vid titled something like: Hanau PX shopping area in 2015... In that vid is included all the pictures that I could legally use to show how the PX & Commissary compound used to look when it deactivated in 2008.
I am truly sorry about the problems You had doing these movies. The legal situation is quite simple: As long as You are on public ground (street, sidewalk etc.) You can film whatevere You like unless You focus in on people. You can focus in on buildings, businesses etc as long as You don't climb a ladder or hold Your camera above Your head and therefore above a wall or hedge or enter their property. Period. Advise anyone who is accosting You to call the police - and You'll see what is NOT going to happen. BTW: I worked in 86/87 for a Dominoes Pizza franchise halfways between the PX and Pioneer. Great times!
thanks for the video. nice to see this area, sad however its changed. probably best to leave and take our funding with us. lived in bldg 2 barracks and worked on new argonner kaserne 2003-2005.
@joebonsaipoland: Hey, Joe! Hope all is well over there in the great country of Poland! Just want to share my 2-cents to your comment... Elementary school #1 was in Frankfurt and in Platen Housing area, as you mentioned. Elementary school #2 was in Atterberry Housing area and in Frankfurt, right across from the 97th General Hospital (now the U.S. Consulate), on Freidbergerland Strasse. I was a student there, which makes me now a Bobcat alumni, during 5th and 6th grades (LOL!). BTW, an Elementary school #1 video is in the channel's archives, if interested. Thanks for stoppin-by Frankfurt Knight & Eagle!
An Elementary school #1 video is in the channel's archives, if interested. Elementary school #2, which was located within Atterberry housing area, has been torn down since the middle-2000's... A huge, popular shopping area is there now. But, if you'd like to see what that area looks like, check the channels archives for a video titled: Edwards & Gibbs Housing, Betts Kaserne, Earls, Etc... The vid was uploaded about 5 1\2-to-6 years ago, so it should be in the first two columns of video posts. BTW, the title is not exactly like I mentioned, but it's similar. Thanks for stoppin-by!
